Leo Mazzone, is the best pitching coach of this generation. One of his philosophies was for his pitchers to throw MORE between starts. They'd have 2 throwing sessions unlike the one that most teams and coaches employ. Studies have been done on Mazzone coaching style.
CC pitched on Sept 19. His next start Sept 28 to close out the season. His first post season start was Oct 4. Then his 2nd post season start he got shelled on Oct 12. 8 days later. I'm sorry. I don't buy into the dead arm theory. 3 starts in 23 days????? And his arms dead. I don't buy it.
Really Dino because he has 3 no decisions in 6 starts and IN ALL 3, he had the lead and was in line for the win when he left ... only to see the bullpen blow the lead in ALL 3 GAMES. One game, he left with a 7-0 lead after 5.1 innings. The bullpen let the Giants of all teams come all the way back to tie it at 7 before the Cubs won in extra innings.
You guys keep believing what you want but your above statement couldn't be more false.

That was one game
His very next start against Arizona he gave up 1 run on 1 hit in 7 innings and they lost 2-0
Next game against the Marlins he gave up 1 run on 2 hits thru 5 innings and lost 3-2

Jesus Dino, the Cubs have scored 8 or more runs in 4 of his 6 starts. His era and numbers should give him a (5-1) record but it doesn't. Why? The Bullpen blew 3 leads for him. I'm not arguing or giving an opinion, they are facts.

When were those runs scored? After he left the game and didnt have a chance for the win?

Does it matter? He was in line for the win when he left and the pen blew it. Why is it so hard to understand or agree to. It is listed at any website, check it out. I know, i know, it is just easier than agreeing with me right?

If they scored 6 , 7, 8 runs in the last 3 innings and he had left the game when they were losing or tied ...yeah it matters
HE DID HAVE MADDUX SMOLTZ AND GLAVINE.I COULD PROBABLY BE A GREAT PITCHING COACH WITH THOSE THREE.I DO AGREE THOUGH HE SHOULD HAVE A JOB.HE DID WORK GREAT FOR ALOT OF PITCHERS THAT CAME FROM OTHER CLUBS THAT HAD BEEN GIVEN UP ON.
MLB 2012***100-98 +$215 OR +2.15 UNITS

I wonder how much these guys played into Mazzone looking so good 'cause he did nothing for the Baltimore staff!

On paper it looks like he did nothing for the Baltimore starters. However, if one looks closely at the stats.
Bedard 2007 ERA 3.16 2006 3.76
Guthrie 2007 3.70 only 1 start in 2006
Trachsel 2007 ERA w/Balt 4.48 w/Cubs 8.31 2006 w/Mets 8.31 2008 w/Balt 8.39
Of the regular starters in 2007 Daniel Cabrera is the only who pitched worse under Mazzone. I guess Baltimore was expecting miracles from Mazzone.
In the study on Mazzone the fact remains starters performed better under Mazzone then poorly after then left the Braves. Who the pitchers are is immaterial.

Compare they're stats prior to Mazzone and under Mazzone. Specifically, Maddux and Glavine. After his first year under Mazzone, Maddux had an ERA 1.56 and 1.63 in his 2nd and 3rd year under Mazzone.
Once again the stats prove pitchers perfromed better under Mazzone even 3 hall of famers.
