I used to think G.S. was a "Big Man" away from a title run. Now i feel like they need a top PG and a Big Man still. Hopefully they spend the money wisely on one or the other instead of blowing it on someone crazy like Maggette.

they are still a big man away, hopefully they can use this money to get one. they wont overpay for maggette, there's only a small market for him anyways. if they dont get brand or josh smith, i hope they sign a couple 1 year contracts and go for it next year

I would love it if possible to get Shawn Marion, his style fits the Warriors much like the Phoenix.
Josh Smith or Luol Deng would be great as well....
        NFL
        5* 1-0
        2* 6-2-1
        1* 9-4
        total = 16-6-1

I like Marion a lot too. If there's any chance we can get Josh Smith, I say we gotta take it, that guy would be a beast in our offense

Mullin is a smart dude, so far he's made all the right moves in my mind, I trust he'll sign the right guy/s, if that's no one this year, so be it. We got young good players, we'll still be fun to watch.

I don't know if he talked to Brand, but there is no doubt in my mind that his agent spoke with LAC management. You don't opt out of a contract making, what, $17 mil unless you are 100% certain you can get it elsewhere. He wanted LA for his 'other' career and how ironic LAC stepped up less than 24 hrs after he opts out.

Even if he did talk to Brand, Brand didn't sign him to the contract. They may have made a 'pact' but he still needed LAC to pay up. I think there is more to this than meets the eye.

It will all become MUCH clearer to you when Brand finally signs on the dotted line with the Clippers!

Not sure what you mean as I think he will sign with them...but I do know Maggette won't be there!

I think letting Davis go is gonna give the Warriors a great chance to get the young guys on the court and playing with less "make the playoffs" pressure. It's also gonna give us the money to sign them to long deals and allow us to fully explore every possibility on the free-agent market...I've said it before and I'll say it again, the Warriors run isn't gonna be until 2011 and on...

Basically, letting Baron go makes it quite clear that we are transitioning into our "youth movement" and within a couple years the addition of the right star/s may be all we need to make our run. The West is too ***** right now, if we build for 2 to 3 years from now a deep playoff run will be much more realistic.

                      MLB 2008 (19-23-1) +3.0 units

                      NBA 08-09 (10-7) + 1.59 units

                      GOY (4-1)

I think the "make the playoff" pressure only came with high expectations as a result of performance. Like Wayne said losing BD to the clippers kinda caught the warriors with their pants down and now the pressure lies solely on chris mullin and his ability to replace the leader of this young warriors team.
I think Josh Smith is a GREAT fit with this team but he's restricted isn't he ? and ATL will do everything they can to keep him.
I think the warriors going after Brand is somewhat of a mistake, I don't think he's the right fit at that price for GS. But I think Brand will sign with LA....with MAggette headed to Philly.

The team that will end up getting caught with their pants down is LA in 2 years when the PG they're paying 15 mil a year to can only play in 50 games a season. I love his game, but the guy is injury prone and only toughed out all 82 games this season so he could convince someone he's worthy of a long term deal. He's already thinking beyond basketball (movies), and struggled terribly down the stretch this year because he played the whole season. I wish him the best, but honestly only think he has 2 great years left...there's a reason the team that has been through it all with him the last 3 years wouldn't give him a 5 year deal.

Josh Smith is unrestricted, he visited Philly today....I actually think Magette will go to Boston if Posey doesn't stay.

Brand and Baron obviously talked about this and Brand will take a pay cut, and the Clippers knew that. The Warriors did not get caught with their pants down, they hoped that Baron would play this season and then come off the books next year, who wouldn't want that, he's only got a few years left. The Clippers won't win shit, they brought in some excitement for a few years, but they won't make through the season without injuries. The Warriors will be fine, they still need some size, but Monta can run the point. I would love a Josh Smith signing, but I highly doubt it.

Whether or not the Warriors wanted to extend Baron's contract or not, they were no doubt caught with their pants down. If it wasn't the case, why did you hear about so many trade rumors with Davis? The Warriors were seeing what they could land in return which ended up being nothing. I'm also 100% sure that they would have tried to do something differently on or before the draft. They were counting on him for this season and if not him, someone pretty good in a trade possibly. I don't believe for a second that they saw this coming and i think they were 99.9% sure Davis was going to live out his last year. You guys are crazy to think otherwise. They have done NOTHING and if they knew Davis was leaving, i guarantee that would not have been the case. Would they have drafted a PF at #14 if they knew Davis was gone? Probably not when the could have traded up a few spots and grabbed Augustin or Bayless. It makes no sense to say anything but they were caught with their pants down. They cannot be happy with how everything went down and all their moves were made based on Davis being there. You can tell me all day how good Randolph will be but 2 PF's in the draft? Mullin never saw this coming guys!!!

I think all the trade rumors were just that. Mullin didn't want to trade Baron for a bunch of old scrubs. They needed the money to spend on Monta and Biedrens, and potentially one more piece. If they traded Baron it would only be for expiring contracts, so what was the point, they might as well hold on to him for one of his last good seasons. Were they surprised he opted out, of course they were, he was set to make 18 million this year, they thought he was a fool, but it turns out the Clippers are the fools. Randolph was far away the best player available when they picked. There was no good PG's available. They can always pick up a veteran PG like Arroyo and J Will. Bayless or Augustin won't be any better than Ellis, in fact I'm positive they'll be worse next year. Maybe Ellis isn't a true pointguard, but I've watched a shit load of games, he plays the point all the time and plays it well, he's getting better game by game. Nellie gave him tons of run at the point last year, knowing that Baron was leaving one of these years. If anything Monta isn't a true SG, he's small and can't shoot 3's.
