Does anyone really about the NBA draft?

It's just another way for ESPN to fill air time.

You are post 31. It is pretty obvious that some care. This draft is one of the best (imo) because it is quick and only 2 rounds long. It also can make or break a team when only 5 play and 12 are on a roster. Yes, i'll admit it, i'm very curious to see who my team gets!

I think Toronto just upgraded huge. They were already a playoff team, Calderon is solid, Bosh and O'Neal is a solid front line. They'll block a lot of shots. O'Neal's health is questionable however.

I like the NBA Draft. It's funny to me to see how stupid some of these GM's are. How many years is gonna take for them to realize they shouldn't draft slow white guys even if they're 8 feet tall.

I'm with you. We watch CBB and i swear, sometimes they make these choices much harder than they are. Some people make some really stupid choices. Sorta like Darco to Detroit when Carmelo was sitting there at #2

If Carmelo was drafted by Detroit, do you think they have 1 or 2 more titles right now? I seriously think they might.

They put too much stock in size IMO. I know I'm contradicting my earlier post about Beasley, but size isn't as important as they think, talent is most important. A 6-7 guy can cover 6-9, it's not that big a deal. With that said, a really small pointguard can get eatin alive. Everything has to be considered, but talent is always better than size. Go Warriors!

You are dead on with the white guy thing though. Seriously, who do we have in the league today for great white players?

By white, i mean american players, not foreign. I'm stumped trying to think of any. It isn't being racist, it is just how it is!

A lot of people obsess over the NFL draft but it's just not that important. Rarely does one player make much of a difference unless it turns out to be a Favre, Manning or Brady.

The NBA draft, however, makes or breaks franchises. Look how lucky New Orl was to get Chris Paul and Utah to get Williams.

Imagine if Portland had taken Jordan instead of Sam Bowie.

Some drafts are thin and don't make much difference but they do tend to be the most important determinant of NBA success.

Remember also that the Lakers got Kobe by trading for the rights to some team that was picking somewhere around 10th (it might have been the Hornets, don't recall)

It was the Hornets and Vlad Divac was what they got I believe

It's funny how one draft pick can set a team back or forward for 10 years. I remember being SOOOOO EXCITED when Boston drafted Len Bias. It was years before they recovered from that unfortunate death.

I don't think teams should ever draft for need, it should always be best available, too much is made about positions in the NBA, as if you need a shooting guard and a small forward, two good small forwards or two good shooting guards would work fine. Defense is what matters and what wins championships. If I was a GM, I would only draft good defensive players.

I really hope Boston gets somebody i've heard of and someone to get excited about. Probably not though that low in rd. 1

There's more than 30 good players in college hoops Wayne, it's all about figuring who's gonna develop. You'll probably get another solid tweener like Powe. Maybe Ryan Anderson this year.
