sounds good, but i'm down here wayne and the "big" talk of the day was how miami does NOT want beasley. Trades are always possible but they are saying they want Mayo. Who Knows ??

I personally have something small on rose going #1 that is all for now.

Rose is going #1 for sure. If I was the Clippers I would consider trading Brand and their 7 pick for Marion and Beasley. After all he's coming off a torn achilles, even though looked ok at the end of last season.

I think it is a smoke cloud and they would be stupid to pass on Beasley!

here's the thing...................................PAT doesn't want beasley, WHY? I think we can all agree PAT is all about defense and as good as beasley is, he does not play defense. They saw mayo and probably said wow at the defensive skills. I don't know what they are going to do but don't be surprised when miami passes on him.

BW. I know me and you both have a prop on rose going #1, but it's not final yet. Don't break out the jinx big

On the eve of the NBA draft, the Toronto Raptors and Indiana Pacers finally agreed to a trade.

Sources told ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher that the Pacers and the Raptors have agreed to a deal that, pending review of medical information, would send Jermaine O'Neal to Toronto in exchange for T.J. Ford, Rasho Nesterovic and the No. 17 pick in Thursday's NBA draft.

There will have to be another player or players added to the deal to make the salaries match, according to the rules of the collective bargaining agreement.

The Canadian Press also reported the deal on Wednesday, citing an unidentified person close to the negotiations. Raptors general manager Bryan Colangelo told The Canadian Press he was in the midst of "four or five" conversations with teams involving Ford and a combination of Toronto's No. 17 pick and/or other Raptors players.

Ford's contract makes him a "base-year compensation" player, meaning the trade cannot be completed until July 9.

The agreement was first reported by Yahoo! Sports.

                      Hollinger: A Win-Win Deal

The trade sending Indiana's Jermaine O'Neal to Toronto for T.J. Ford is a rare find in an NBA deal: Both teams may come out winners, John Hollinger writes.
                      Hollinger: A winning deal

O'Neal had surgery in April 2007 to repair torn meniscus cartilage in his left knee. He came back to start this season but occasionally played through swelling and pain. Before the Pacers announced his most recent injury, O'Neal said the knee hadn't fully healed from the procedure.

O'Neal played in only 42 games last year and at one point missed 33 straight games before returning to the lineup on March 31. He had his worst season with the Pacers since 2000-01 as he averaged 13.6 ppg and 6.8 rpg after averaging 19.4 ppg and 9.6 rpg in 2006-07. Team officials recently told the Indianapolis Star that O'Neal, a six-time All-Star, and his knee are healthy.

He was the star of the Pacers' team in 2003-04 that won 61 games and reached the Eastern Conference finals. But he was also involved in the Pacers-Pistons brawl at the Palace at Auburn Hills in 2004 that caused a meltdown of the Pacers that season and put the team in a funk from which it hasn't recovered. Since that 61-win season, the Pacers have missed the playoffs the last two years and haven't won more than 44 games in a season.

Ford has a history of neck injuries that began his rookie year. He collided with Minnesota's Mark Madsen on a drive to the basket on Feb. 24, 2004 and had to be carted off the court on a stretcher after injuring his tailbone. Ford missed the entire 2004-05 season and his backup, Mo Williams, emerged as a possible candidate for the starting job. Ford played in 72 games for Milwaukee in 2005-06 season as the Bucks made the playoffs, but he was traded to Toronto after the season for the Bucks' Charlie Villanueva and cash.

In his first season with Toronto, Ford played in 75 games, averaging a career-high 14.0 ppg and 7.9 apg as the Raptors won the Atlantic Division for the first time in team history. Last season, Ford missed 13 games with a neck injury after Atlanta's Al Horford knocked him to the ground on a breakaway layup. Throughout the season, backup Jose Calderon proved more than adequate and took advantage of Ford's injury to land the role as the Raptors' favored starter.

Nesterovic averaged 7.8 ppg and 4.8 rpg last year, but went from a regular starter for Toronto in his first year to a backup last year.

O'Neal is set to make $21 million this season and $23 million in 2009-10. Ford has $25 million and three years left on his contract.

The Pacers will now hold the 11th and 17th picks in Thursday night's draft while the Raptors will not have any selections.

Blazers agree to deal with Hornets for 27th pick

The Portland Trail Blazers have agreed to a deal with the New Orleans Hornets to acquire the 27th pick in Thursday's NBA draft for cash considerations, a Blazers source told ESPN.com.

The deal was agreed to verbally between the two teams on Tuesday night, according to the source. The deal awaits league approval and may not become official until Thursday's draft has begun, The Associated Press reported on Wednesday, citing a person who works in the NBA and is familiar with the transaction. The person spoke on condition of anonymity Wednesday because the deal hadn't been formally announced.

Blazers GM Kevin Pritchard has been very active in the past few drafts acquiring picks. Armed with the financial might of owner Paul Allen, the Blazers acquired the 23rd pick in the draft last year and drafted Rudy Fernandez. They also used cash to acquire Sergio Rodriguez in 2006.

The Trail Blazers already have the 13th overall selection and adding the 27th pick would give them five draft picks overall, including three in the second round. The Trail Blazers also have yet to see action from Greg Oden, last year's top overall pick in the draft, because of knee surgery that sidelined him for all of his rookie season.

It's unclear who the Blazers are eyeing at No. 27. One possibility is Croatian big man Ante Tomic, whom the Blazers have coveted for years.

Other potential targets are French swingman Nicolas Batum, who has slipped in the draft because of concerns about his heart, and Memphis swingman Chris Douglas-Roberts.

Hornets general manager Jeff Bower declined to confirm the trade, saying nothing is official until the league approves it. However, he talked about how the Hornets' could benefit in free agency by taking cash for their only pick in this year's NBA draft.

The Hornets fell one victory short of the Western Conference finals this past season, losing in seven games to the San Antonio Spurs in the second round. Bower said it is rare for a rookie selected in the bottom fifth of the draft's opening round to be a difference-maker on a team looking to contend for a championship.

"That type of production normally comes two or three years down the road," Bower said.

The Hornets' rebuilding years are behind them, however, and head coach Byron Scott has only two seasons on his current contract.

With a starting lineup that includes All-Stars Chris Paul and David West, along with perimeter sharpshooter Peja Stojakovic and 7-foot-1 center Tyson Chandler, the goal is to contend for a title next season. Conventional wisdom points to free agency as the fastest way to make the Hornets, who won a franchise-record 56 games in the regular season, a better playoff team.

"We have to make the judgment as to where we can get the quickest help," Bower said. "So we're looking at, really, from a draft pick at 27 or maybe we're better served looking at other avenues."

With no incoming rookies, the Hornets would add money that would otherwise have been spent on draft choices into their pot for free agency -- in addition to cash received from another team in a trade, which could be as high as $3 million under league rules, Bower said.

As of Wednesday, the Hornets did not have a second-round choice in the draft. It was traded to Houston last season as part of a deal that sent Bobby Jackson to the Rockets in exchange for Bonzi Wells and Mike James. Houston later dealt that pick, the 56th overall, to Seattle.

Wells will become an unrestricted free agent July 1.

Bobcats acquire Nuggets' 20th pick in NBA draft

The Charlotte Bobcats are so enamored by the depth of Thursday's draft that they sought out a way to get a second pick to fill two needs for a guard and a big man.

The Denver Nuggets were willing, trading their 20th pick to Charlotte for a future protected first-round pick.

In making the deal, the Bobcats now have the Nos. 9 and 20 selections in the first round.

New Charlotte coach Larry Brown told ESPN.com Wednesday night that after looking at the depth of their draft board from Nos. 1-25 he told president Michael Jordan that he needed another pick. Jordan said to go get one. So, they found a willing partner in Denver, which wasn't thrilled with its choices at No. 20.

The Nuggets now don't have a selection in the draft.

Brown said the Bobcats expect injured forwards Adam Morrison and Sean May back next season and hope to sign center Emeka Okafor. He said at No. 9 the Bobcats' top choices -- UCLA guard Russell Westbrook and center Kevin Love -- will likely be gone.

That means Charlotte will focus on a list of four players with the ninth pick: Italy's Danilo Gallinari, West Virginia's Joe Alexander, Texas' D.J. Augustin and LSU's Anthony Randolph. Gallinari and Alexander could be gone at No. 6 and 8, respectively. If that's the case, then the Bobcats will likely choose between Augustin and Randolph.

At No. 20, the Bobcats have a longer list that will include: Stanford's Robin Lopez, Congo's Serge Ibaka, Syracuse's Donte Greene, Florida's Marreese Speights, Nevada's JaVale McGee and Rider's Ryan Thompson. Lopez is the one player who will likely be gone at No. 20.

The Bobcats were also impressed with Georgetown center Roy Hibbert when he worked out for the team earlier this month. Hibbert is expected to go late in the first round.
