Do you think the "bloody sock" of Schilling was comparable to this??
I think they are somewhat similiar where you need your foot or knee to push off and throw a ball or swing a club. Not the same but similiar in their respected sports.
Not doubting he had some pain but I know quite a lot about the game and play regularly. I watched Casey Martin play on one leg, it can be done, its not like you cannot adjust and swing easier.
Most Pros have fought thru injuries, its part of the game. Johnny Miller tried to equate what Tiger was doing to Kirk Gibson. I just think it was overboard.
Anyone who plays golf or who ever has played golf knows what they saw on the back nine at the US Open today was incredible! And just part of the growing legend of Mr Woods. We are very fortunate that in our lifetime we get to see both the greatest golfer of all time and have seen the greatest basketball player of all time in his Airness. But what seperates Tiger from other athletes happened today when he spoke to Roger Maltbie. When asked about the chip in he said it really was luck and explained that anytime a ball hits on the green and bounces like that it is luck. He spoke of the long eagle putts as bombs. He was just very humble and honest. I am a golf traditionalist, and Bobby Jones Grand Slam to me is the greatest accomplishment in golf history. But when it comes to the Greatest golfer in history it is Tiger. We all know how much I hate media hype..............but like Wayne said he deserves every bit of it. And what we witnessed today, justifies any and all coverage the media gives Woods. He is incredible, and without a doubt the BEST ever!

Casey Martin didn't do it in the 3rd round of a US Open and he didn't come back from 5 shots down to take a lead with only 6 holes left. If Tiger played an average round, it might be different. To limp around and end this round like he did is what seperates him from the rest. An injury like that would drain most golfers mentally, especially in a major on a course where par is an excellent score.

Why is that overboard? Gibson only had to come to the plate and take 3 swings. He didn't even play in that game. He pinch hit once. Tiger has played 54 holes in 3 days with a bad knee and somehow he is leading.
Absolutely.....my god it is the US Open most guys crumble under the pressure at 100% health. Saturday at the Open and he plays almost the entire back nine on one leg, and has two eagles......nothing short of amazing!
5 shots back with 6 holes to go and he limps to the lead with a Eagle on 18
just think if he would have done this on a SUNDAY.MIGHT HAVE BEEN THE GREATEST GOLFING COMEBACK OF ALL TIME.NOTICE NO ONE WAS FALTERING REALLY IT WAS JUST TIGER GOING AND GETTING IT.WELL TAKE IT BACK ROCCO WAS FALTERING KINDA BAD

I totally agree! He is he best ever, he takes advantage of his breaks and the rest look like they are a bunch of pussies missing the short putts I saw today. Just wish the media would stop blaming his knee for every missed shot. WTF, is his knee then OK on his good shots??

Did you see Appleby??? He 4 putted from 18 feet, missed every putt today. Love faltered too. Mickleson was out of it but looked like a fool on #13. Trahan 3 putts 18 for a par.
Tiger will not beat himself like the others will. It boils down to putting and Tiger is the best putter.
I thought that commercial with Tiger's dad and pictures of tiger growing up was amazing. His dad kept telling Tiger that he will never meet a man that is mentally tougher than he is and Tiger goes on to do what he did in the final holes. It was so fitting and so true!
Some swings and angles may put more pressure on the knee than others. If you have played golf, you should know that.
Wayne,
I hate to tell you that I am a scratch player so I know that. I played high school and college golf and it is my favorite sport.
Of course Tiger will know which type of swing is best to work around any pain. The tough part is walking 18 holes on uneven ground, he was worn down at the end but I doubt he was in very serious pain. Making eagles certainly eased the pain I suspect he would have been hurting more if he shot 40 on the back nine

I knew you were a golfer because you said that earlier. I would love to see you have knee surgery and go to Torrey Pines 5 weeks later to compete. There is only one person in this world that would be able to do that and lead after 3 rounds and it is Tiger Woods. I'm more surprised that you as a big golfer can't understand how amazing that was. I batted .400 in Little League too but it doesn't mean i couldn't understand the difference in what i did and what Ted Williams did in 1941 batting .406
TigerWoods is a living legend golf GOD. People will always try to find chinks in the armor, especially when it comes to one of the greatest champions of all time. You can assume what you want with the knee injury, but if Tiger Woods was capable of walking regularly DO YOU REALLY THINK HE WOULD BE LIMPING! maybe some of us would pull the fake limp card for sympathy or whatever back in elementary school but this is tiger freakin woods, the greatest golfer of all time.
