Probably because of the flight from Tokoyo. Honestly did anyone even read the article, I thought it was interesting. People just see a horse run a great race and than give him the triple crown, they don't take into consideration all the factors.

He wasn't required to run a better race yet he was still sensational.

Big Brown very well could bounce, which would mean taking a rather sizeable step in the wrong direction.
He exerted little effort in today's race. Normally, running 3 races in 5 weeks is a chore. Going into the Belmont I don't see fatigue as a factor.

I did read the article. Normally, fatigue is a factor racing for the triple crown in the Belmont. IMO after today's race it's a non-factor.

This horse hasn't even been tested. He's winning easily. I expect a Secretariat like performance by Big Brown in the Belmont.

No doubt about it, he should be favored and he should win, but how many triple crown losers do there have to be before people catch on? I'm playing devils advocate to an extent.

I'm 48. I haven't seen a horse this dominant since Spectacular Bid in 1979. In the 70s we were lucky. We had 4 superstars from 73 to 79 including 3 in a row from 77 to 79.

I posted in another thread earlier in the week. There's been 16 horses heading into the Belmont with the first 2 jewels of the triple crown. Eventually, a horse has to win the triple crown.

Yutaka Take (Japan's leading rider) will likely ride Casino Drive.

One thing should be noted about Casino Drive. While his "official" record shows only two races, he ran too professionally in the Peter Pan for me to buy that. In Japan, and many other countries, trainers work their horses in team drills that are essentially, another race. The horse has a lot of experience, I think.

Casino Drive's dam threw both Jazil (2006 Belmont winner) and Rags to Riches (last year's winner). That's an astonishing coincidence. That's why the Japanese group has been targeting the Belmont for months.

There are NO locks in horse racing. Remember Spectacular Bid? That being said, Big Brown is unbelievably dominant and has the advantage of being born in the year of a terrible crop of three year olds.

Many say that Spectacular Bid was one of the best ever. His 3rd place finish in the Belmont was blamed on a safety pin in his hoof found the morning of the race. The infection that resulted almost cost him his life.

Last Triple Crown Winner was 1978, 30 years ago....hope that changes this year.
