You habs (or habs not!) fans are hilarious.

Chad,Your tag proclaims you need a big trade, a better team, makes the big move, and you say they gave up too much. While the mighty Pens chose not to kid themselves like Montreal, and hold on to marginal NHL talent, they made a move to go for the Cup.

If, and yes its a big if, Hossa walks, at the end of the year, the poor Pens franchise, is stuck with just the best 2 players in the game today.

P.S. Doc, when did Hossa play with the best player on the planets line in the playoffs before? I'm willing to give him a shot on a team that wants to, can, and will be hoisting the Cup, as the Hab fans celebrate mediocrity!!!

LMAO i feel bad for you I really do because you are about to face MAJOR disappointment. If you haven't noticed the Pens don't lack offence so the pickup wasn't all that necessary because defence wins championships and they will get shoved around and picked apart at some point. If the Pens resign Hossa the franchise will eat **** just like the Lightning because with the cap you CANNOT afford 3 salaries as large as crosby, malkin and hossa will demand. Hossa wants 8 million, where are they going to fit that? Thats right Pens fan, you can cut every player on the team because it only takes 3 of them to win the cup

        Hossa is a rental

CHADO, i have spoken with some people and this is what I have concluded about our Habs
-We have one young up and coming nucleas and what I am hearing is that the deal was hossa for ryder, higgins, lubvonic or wtv and lapierre. Higgins as Gainey said was NOT going anywhere.......
-While we could have used HUET, he wasn't going to carry us through the playoffs and would have been a negative on this team knowing he wasn't coming back. He lets in weak ones and to truly reach our potential we need Price to excel.
-Carbonneau is a terrible coach and could never figure out the goalie situation so Gainey (loves price) solved it for him.
-Habs can win on the road which is amazing for such a young team and it will carry them for a bit, not saying we win any cup this year but it is coming soon with this nucleus which will remain together-WHY?-because we haven't overdosed on stars we will remain well under the cap---Going into today we had 4 mill available and minus Huet we have enough to pick up some key pieces in the offseason

NOTE**********LOOK at hossas playoff resume, its bland

        GL
WOW...a fellow HABS fan that knows whats up...couldnt agree more with everything!!! What you Pens fans need to realize is that Gainey is one of the smartest GM's in the whole league. He is a master and genious of hockey sense, management, drafting, recruiting, scouting, and overall prospecting of the future of this hockey club. When he was asked by the Thrashers for all the young talent and future you guys gave up for Hossa, Gainey would have said GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE NO WAY!!! Of course winning the Cup this year is a long shot and most likely wont happen but with the nucleus we have here with all our young talent its only a matter of time and I am sure that was his view on it too!!!

Also, I am glad as hell Gainey didnt decide to trade Higgins cause I love him. Look at the two goals he scored last night to put us up 3-1 and pretty much solidify the win!!!

And yes are you gonna pay Hossa the 8 MIL a year that he wants to continue to play with the Pens. Another high paid Lecavalier, Rochards, and St. Louis "one line wonder" that takes up almost all your caps space??? The Pens offense is not the problem its their defence and if Conklin and your defensive core cant hold down the fort it will spell trouble. Defense wins championships in ANY league because you can only outscore your opposition on so many nights before the puck cannot find the back of the net!!!

tash whats your view on this Hossa trade...I think the Pens gave up too much young talent and is most likely why the Habs and Gainey disagreed to any offer the Thrashers were looking for....thoughts?

Since when has Colby Armstrong and Erik Christianson been considered talented? They are 3rd line grinders, which I know that you need, but the Pens have as talented a minor system as anyone and calling up some young talent to muck and grind while your first 2 lines score goals is not a bad recipe. Espisito is considered a bust right now, it will take him too many years to develop just so he can be a 3rd liner on this team. As far as the 1st round pick, late round picks in the NHL are crap shoots. Of course this is all just my thoughts, we will have to wait and see how this plays out.

Hard to say...good trade for both the Thrashers and Pens to some extent...just never like the thought personally about giving up young guys, 3rd liners or not, and to say Esposito is a bust is to early to tell because of the fact of the youth with not only himself but also Armstrong and Christensson. They are all very young and because of their youth you dont know what their potential would/could amount to. Also you pointed out about how they have only about 9 goals and 15 assists. That is also a re-itteration of my point about they are too young to base anything they have done so far to predict how well or bad they will excel or fall off in the future....

Gainey is one of the smartest GM's in the league???

He's afraid to make a deal. His team has won one playoff series in 5 years. You Habs fans are classic!! If Gainey had the Balls to get Hossa, i'm sure you all would still be bashing him, right?

Its simply sour grapes. The Pens were aggressive, and are going all out to win the Cup, which is why you play the games. As a fan, I love it.

If you guys prefer to keep playing for a future that may or may not ever come, and load up on unproven, third line, muckers, more power to you.

If you want to sit there and say you would not have loved to have Hossa putting on your sweater today, instead of the Pens,we all know you're kidding yourselves!!

In the words of the immortal Jim Morrison, " I woke up this morning and got myself a beer, the future is uncertain and the end is always near."

The Pens are playing for the big prize today, which is to be admired. Habs fans, good luck with your 5 year plan, and good thing you changed your avatar, chad!

I know the Caps got Huet and Fedorov. Whats your take on my Caps the rest of season and into the playoffs?

Hockey is a great sport and those guys are great athletes. I get pumped for playoff hockey, just not a day to day maniac like you!

Personally, I appreciate just about any sport in which the competition is fierce and great skills are on display.

I draw the line at competitive masturbation!

If that ever becomes is a sport, I would guess some of our members would have to turn pro

                            • I do agree and did state it in a previous post that the Pens are truly going for it by trading to get hossa. I don't think that he is the missing link to that team, even last night they gave up 52 shots and w/o luongo/brodeur/a few others, that won't carry you too far...

I am a big fan of Fleury and he will help but he is still not the most consistent of goalies...

Right now it looks like Habs/Pens in round 1...so that should be a great series. Gainey is banking on Price turning into Ken Dryden or Patrick Roy which I think will one day happen but not sure it will be this year. Fact is we weren't going far with Huet so why wait on Price.

My take on your Caps the rest of the season is that they have to make the playoffs first. Right now they are sitting in 11th place in the East. They are 5 points back of division leading Carolina for 3rd but only 3 points back of Buffalo and Philly for 8th. So first off all they need to make the playoffs before anything else. If they win the Southeast division and get a 3rd seed their chances are a lot better as they would play a weaker opponent in the first round. To say the are a Cup contender absolutely not but their future look properous. That young winger Niklas Backstrom is up there for rookie of the year voting as he has 50 points this season so far. Also, I really like that defenceman Mike Green as he has 16 goals and 41 points and will is a young stud on the point for you guys. Huet should make a great addition to your club and I am inetersted to know what is gonna happen with Olaf Kolzig and Brent Johsnon now. I am assuming Huet will be #1 and Kolzig #2 but he cant be too happy about that. The one thing that really hurt your team is the season ending injury to Michael Nylander. You guys needed him for sure expecially considering that Alexander Overchkin accounts for almost 30% of your teams goals.

PS - Glad to hear you love playoff hockey. Cant wait for it to start up in April. One of the most intense few month of the year for me as I am on the edge of my seat for EVERY game!!!
