I disagree...Pens gave up way too much for a player they can't resign in the offseason.........if they don't win it this year then all those youngsters +1st round pick gone for a rent -a player....

personall don't agree with giving up too much for a rental..

I live in MTl and I am also pissed with getting rid of HUET...It was one thing if we were taking on a cpl big contracts but to lose him for what? a 2nd rounder?

I believe in HALAK chado but I would rather keep huet for this year, and get NOTHING after not signing him than to get a 2nd rounder in 2009...

            just my 2 cents

Would this be another Atlanta team making an awful trade?

I am not sure, all I know is that he has not performed well, he couldn't even make the Canadian Junior team. I do worry that we gave up alot for Hossa, especially if we don't sign him at the end of the year. But truthfully, Christianson and Armstrong are just 2 hard nosed minor leaguers that fill our roster now. With Hossa, we now probably have the 2 best lines in Hockey, which with solid Goaltending can be enough to win it all...

WOW...I was just having this exact same conversation with a buddy of mine....Pens may have given up way too much for Hossa and Dupuis....prospect Angelo Esposito, forwards Colby Armstrong and Erik Christensen and a first-round pick is a little bit overboard on 2nd thought after I talked with a few buddies and my pops about it. This is an extreme amount of youth to give up for Hossa who is a UFA at the end of the season. They gave up a fuck load for a rental player who could end up playing elsewhere after the season is over. If and only if they sign Hossa to a long term contract only ten will it make it a little bit better for the Pens organization. Another way of thinking about why Montreal didnt get him is because Gainey is a very smart in refernce to building young, strong, and solid players for the teams future and when Atlanta probably asked for a bunch of our youth Ganiey would have quickly and promtly said NO FUCKING WAY! I still am looking for an explanation as to why we ONLY got a fucking 2nd rounder for Huet but he knows more than I do. And yes Doctor I also believe in our back Halak. He is also a very good goaltender and its not so much the fact of getting rid of Huet that I am mad about its the 2nd rounder only for him. I would have also rather kept him for an attempt at the Cup this season and given him away for nothing at the end of this year too. Just would have thought we could have got something better offered to us for him than just that. All in all not a good day for Habs fans to say the least but I am glad Gainey didnt trade away any of our youth and future that is for sure!!!

Not at all...great trade for the Thrashers as they gained a few quality young players and a first round draft pick for the future!!!

Chad I have season tix to the pens and seeing every game the Pens got the better deal here. Christensen could be a great player but never will for some reason. We gave up two 3rd liners at best. Esposito isn't paning out the way we thought he would. Our draft pick will be one of the last in the 1st rd. Hossa will resign with the pens next year. Would you leave playin with sid and geno?
No one called anyone a JT

If Pens resign Hossa say GOODNIGHT to the franchise just like the Lightning ******* up.......Three superstars takes up WAY too much cap room when there isn't much to go around and leaves you with too much garbage so if you don't win in the one season time frame you go down in flames and it only gets worse......

                                Hossa is a rental

CHADO, i have spoken with some people and this is what I have concluded about our Habs
-We have one young up and coming nucleas and what I am hearing is that the deal was hossa for ryder, higgins, lubvonic or wtv and lapierre. Higgins as Gainey said was NOT going anywhere.......
-While we could have used HUET, he wasn't going to carry us through the playoffs and would have been a negative on this team knowing he wasn't coming back. He lets in weak ones and to truly reach our potential we need Price to excel.
-Carbonneau is a terrible coach and could never figure out the goalie situation so Gainey (loves price) solved it for him.
-Habs can win on the road which is amazing for such a young team and it will carry them for a bit, not saying we win any cup this year but it is coming soon with this nucleus which will remain together-WHY?-because we haven't overdosed on stars we will remain well under the cap---Going into today we had 4 mill available and minus Huet we have enough to pick up some key pieces in the offseason

NOTE**********LOOK at hossas playoff resume, its bland
