This is by far the biggest deal of the day so far. Dallas gets Brad Richards AND Johan Homlvquist and Tampa gets Mike Smith, Jeff Halpren, AND Jussi Jokinnen WOW!!!!!!!!!!! not a bad trade for your Bolts at all drugstuntman. heres the latest:

"After much speculation, the Tampa Bay Lightning have agreed to trade one of their 'Big Three' forwards, sending centre Brad Richards and goaltender Johan Holmqvist to the Dallas Stars for goalie Mike Smith, centre Jeff Halpern and winger Jussi Jokinen.

Richards, who makes $7.8 million a season through the 2010-11 camapaign, waived his no-trade clause for the deal to go through. He signed a five-year, $39 million contract in 2006, with his average annual salary more than twice the $3.4 million he made in his previous deal.

Richards has 18 goals and 50 points in 61 games this season.

In 551 career NHL games, the 27-year-old centre has 150 goals and is the Lightning's career assists leader with 338. He had a career-high 91 points in 2005-06.

    More to follow."

Don't get me wrong, my favorite sport is football, but how can anyone call themselves a serious sports fan and not love Hockey? Get behind one team for a playoff run and you will be hard pressed to find a sport more exciting and end to end with action. Every rush up the ice raises the blood pressure as you know that it could be a goal that makes the difference in the game. Add to that, incredible skill( eye hand coordination and skating) combined with amazing hits and fights, not to mention the toughest athletes on Earth. I have seen players take multiple stiches or even broken jaws and then come back to play the next shift or period. Maybe I am biased because i live in the North, but Hockey does deserve some Love.

It just baffles me too Burgh...the main thing is a lot of members didnt grow up playing the game themselves and also werent exposed to it throughout their childhood....playoff hockey is one of the most intense two months of any sport you can watch...just actually give it a chance and sit down and watch some of the games starting April and you will hopefully witness what I am talking about....sheer physical toughness and intensity on every shift it is utterly amazing!!!
