What's wrong with that? That's exactly my point. How do we really know Ohio State is the best team in the country? We won't till they face each other. Ohio State's ranking was affected with Texas 2nd loss. Now that the season is playing out, who has Ohio State played? Their highest ranked BCS opponent is #13 Texas. Michigan has faced two top 9 teams.

IMO there's too much bias in the human polls. The fans are influenced by media hype. The media is probably the worst judge of all. They are clueless. The so called experts on ESPN and other shows are wrong much more than they are right about picking winners.

The human polls (AP Poll, Coaches Poll and Harris Poll) all rank W Virginia higher than Louisville. There's ZERO logic with that. All the computer polls have it right. They all rank Louisville ahead of W Virginia. There's too much bias with the human polls.

The Coaches poll is the biggest joke. W Virginia #7 with Louisville #12????????

You don't think coaches vote in favor of their own conference? You don't think coaches conspire with one another trying to manipulate the rankings? Why did ESPN sever its ties with the coaches poll? The coaches aren't required to reveal their votes. Their votes reek of conspiracy.

I understand what you're saying and I agree to an extent, but logically speaking, how can Rutgers possibly be ranked ahead of Ohio St in any computer?

What formula is in place that does that calculation?

simple. the Big 11 sucks. Big east is better conference.

I have no idea about any of the computer calculations.

Again, that the beauty of the computer rankings. There's no bias.

The starting point for the human polls begins before any teams play a game. That makes no sense.

                  #2 Texas now #13
                  #5 Oklahoma now #17
                  #6 Auburn now #14
#14 Georgia out of top 25

                  #15 Michigan now #2

Teams that started outside the top 25
                  Rutgers
                  Arkansas
                  Wisc
                  Boise
                  Wake Forest
                  Georgia Tech
                  Maryland
                  Boston College
                  BYU

9 of 25 teams began the season outside the Coaches Preseason Poll. It's obvious the coaches are biased and clueless.

My guess is Schedule. If Ohio St beats Michigan they'll leap ahead of Rutgers because they played a top-10 team.

In ELO-CHESS, only winning and losing matters; the score margin is of no consequence, which makes it very "politically correct".

The ELO-CHESS will be utilized by the Bowl Championship Series(BCS).

In the ELO ranking Michigan has played ND #4 and Wisc #6

                    Rutgers has played #7 Louisville

The highest ELO ranked team Ohio State has played is #21 Texas. That'll change this weekend when they face #1 Michigan.
