      • Wayne, do you not agree that they have the biggest holes to fill out of the teams vying for a playoff spot in the AL? I think it is stupid to think that a team has to make a move because another team did i.e. the Yankees. I root hard for the Sox but think they have major issues with numbers 5-9 in the order, pitchers 3-5 as starters and half their bullpen. Other than that, I think they are set...!

Wells is pitching tonight. Wakefield and Clement are both due back mid to late August. Snyder has been a respectable 5TH STARTER. When those guys come back, we will have 7 starters. It's not as bad as you make it out to be.

Could they have used a pitcher? NO DOUBT but with Nixon going down and Pena out of the trade mix, it did tie their hands a little cause he was included in alot of deals.

Am i happy they did nothing? NO but other teams have just as many IF NOT MORE needs than Boston and they also did nothing. We still field a pretty good team each night last i looked.

I understand, it's Boston so we were "Supposed" to do something ... Well, we didn't!

If you think the Twins are SET just because of the 2 words EVERYONE says (Liriano & Santana) than you're crazy. Their pace and offense will slow down just like it did over the weekend against Detroit!

I hope you are right...I don't have the confidence in Wells, Wakefield and Clement right now...and I fully supported the signing of Clement, who I thought would keep you in games, eat up eatings and win 13 - 15 games. I also liked the Wells signing...but since my glass is ALWAYS half empty, I can't count on them. Varitek hasn't hit since last July, the #5 hole has not done a great job of prtecting Manny, Lowell looks like he my be reverting to 2005.... I hope it is just me being pessimistic.

We only need 2 of the 3 to be healthy as 4th & 5th starters!

              I agree, he is struggling!

i HAVE TO DISAGREE ABOUT Lowell. The guy has a SOLID average and leads the A.L. in doubles (including the 2 rbi tying one Saturday). His defense is also a big reason why the Sox are No. 1 in baseball. Often defense gets over looked and it shouldn't!

Agree very much on Lowell...but if he ends up in the tank, from the plate, the last two months, it is diffiuclt to accept the 'GREAT glove' theory when he is backed by Coco and Gonzo in the lineup. Let's hope this is only a 2 or 3 week aberration.

If it ever got that bad, they could move Youk to 3rd and either throw Ortiz at 1st or go out and sign a J.T. Snow for defense and a low average!

i guess they thought he was expendable with endy chavez & milledge as backups, but the bums they got in return, don't impress me

                        • You guys do realize that the Mets ended up getting Linebrink and Roberto Hernandez for Nady, right? They picked up two solid relief pitchers to replace Sanchez, who is out for the season, and shouldn't lose anything with the guys who are going to replace Nady.

And then they traded Oliver Perez and Heath Bell for Linebrink.

                              • didnt see that 1. but Nady as a part time/injured player, might have had a 30 HR season, we'll see if this pans out
