When will Trot get hurt and will Wily Mo be an adequate replacement?
Who is going to step up behind Schilling, Wakefield & Beckett?
Other than Timlin, who can they use as a bridge to Papelbon?
Have we seen the best of Varitek? As not been the same guy since August of last year and can they win with him not producing as he has in the past?
Asking an awful lot in depending on Lester and Papelbon...can they withstand the heat of a pennant race in a city like Boston?
Very good questions and yet virtually the same types of questions can be asked of every team which is doing well.
Re:Varitek-his offensive figures are down, but ability to know how to handle the pitchers and calling a game is not, and by my way of thinking is more important.

Agreed on Varitek, but his offensive decline has not been an issue because the team is hitting the crap out of the ball. But when that inevitable team slump comes, it will become a bigger issue.

Being the way baseball us, he will probably turn it around somewhat when the rest of the team goes into a slump.
He is too much of a pro for this to last for an entire season, and he has contributed some big hits at times.
All things considered, if I had to choose the team to win the WS right now, I would pick the White Sox;that could change if Red Sox can win at least one game this weekend with them and hold their onw in the others.

Tek is my favorite Red Sox, but at 34 and a lot of innings in those knees, I hope this is a 3 month offensive slump...not so sure though.

You are right, but I would venture to say that if just about anyone had been catching the games he caught this year, Sox record would be worse.
As stated, there are few who have his keen sense of how to call a game, and in addition he brings a lot of intangibles to the team;on the other hand, I am not dumb enough to say that his offensive output doesn't matter.
