I love stats but I think when comparing eras you should look at rankings. The game was totally different in 72.
Both teams 72 Dolphins and 85 Bears were ranked #1 in total D. BUT the Dolphins were ranked #1 on total O, Bears=6.

I had to double check that, because I didn't see that about the offense.

      That's an impressive stat.

Puts more credibility on the Dolphins...but i'll still stick to my guns on this.

Different Era...yes. But i still think if you put those two teams together...it's not even close.

Should Payton have gotten the ball. YES...WITHOUT A DOUBT

But the question isn't "Should Payton have scored a touchdown?"

Its not my sole reason but its a major reason IMO. That was an insult. Bottom line they might be the best team ever or one of a select few and if it comes down to it arguing best team ever doesnt come down to W/L it comes down to intangables and what happens and what stands out in my/your mind. Not doing the right thing in a SUPERBOWL counts in my book and its something I'll never forget and i'm not even a bears fan. it wasnt like it was week 3. It was the freakin superbowl.

Here's the thing though...that was one of 4 running TD's...2 by McMahon and one by full back matt suhey...why focus on only one of those?

Why not give it to payton instaed of two QB sneaks?

In the long run....it doesn't matter.

they were just that dominant...and the best.
