Three of the top teams in the nation highlight Big Monday on ESPN with a trio of matchups in the ACC and Big 12.

Kicking things off, the North Carolina Tar Heels head south to Tallahassee to tangle with the No. 5 Florida State Seminoles. Later that night, the No. 1 Baylor Bears will be on the road against the Kansas State Wildcats. At the same time, the Texas Longhorns will be in Lawrence to face off against the No. 3 Kansas Jayhawks.

North Carolina Tar Heels at No. 5 Florida State Seminoles
(ESPN, 7:00 p.m. ET)

Opening Odds: FSU -9.5, Total 143.5

Betting Matchup

In a down season with a straight-up record of 10-11, the Tar Heels are coming off Saturday’s 71-70 home loss to Boston College as heavy 12-point favorites. They are 3-7 SU in ACC play with a 4-6 record against the spread. The total ended as a PUSH on 141 points in Saturday’s loss after going OVER in six of their previous eight games. North Carolina is averaging 71.5 points per game and allowing 70.8 points on defense.

Freshman Cole Anthony returned to the lineup against BC after a two-month absence and scored 26 points.

Florida State (8-2 SU) is a game and a half behind Louisville for the top spot in the conference. The Seminoles got past Virginia Tech 74-63 on Saturday as three-point road favorites. This was their 11th SU win in their last 12 games. The only loss was against Virginia on the road to close out January. They are 18-3 SU overall with a 10-11 record ATS. The total has gone OVER in six of their last seven games.

Devin Vassell was a perfect 7-for-7 from three point range as part of his 27 points against Virginia Tech.

Betting Trends

No. 1 Baylor Bears at Kansas State Wildcats

Betting Matchup

The Bears continued to roll on Saturday with a 68-52 victory against TCU as 11 ½-point home favorites. They have won their last 18 games SU while covering in eight of their last nine contests. Baylor (19-1 SU, 14-6 ATS) is now 8-0 in Big 12 play. The total has stayed UNDER in seven of the last nine games behind a defense that is ranked fifth in the nation in points allowed (58.0).

MaCio Teague scored 19 points with five three-point buckets in Saturday’s win.

Kansas State (9-12 SU and ATS) has two SU wins in conference play against six losses. It is an even 4-4 ATS in those eight games. The Wildcats came up short against West Virginia on Saturday in a 66-57 loss as 13 ½-point road underdogs. Senior forward Xavier Sneed is the team’s leading scorer with 14.4 PPG. He had 11 points in 33 minutes of play against the Mountaineers.

Guard Cartier Diarra is the other Wildcat in double figures (12.8 points) on the year.

Texas has won its last two games (SU and ATS) with a one-point road victory against TCU as a four-point underdog followed by Saturday’s 72-68 home victory against Iowa State as a three-point favorite. The Longhorns are an even 4-4 SU in conference play and 14-7 overall. They have gone 4-10 ATS over their last 14 games. There are five different players averaging at least 10 points a game as part of their 66.2-point scoring average.

Kansas (18-3 SU, 12-9 ATS) is still one game in back of Baylor for first place in the Big 12 at 7-1 SU (5-3 ATS). One of those victories came against Texas on Jan. 18. Two Big Ten games featuring a trio of nationally ranked teams highlight Tuesday night’s college basketball betting board.

The early start sends the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on the road to College Park to face the No. 9 Maryland Terrapins. Later Tuesday night, the No. 22 Penn State Nittany Lions square off against the No. 16 Michigan State Spartans in East Lansing.

Betting Matchup

The Scarlet Knights slipped to 7-4 straight-up and 9-2 against the spread in Big Ten play with Saturday’s 69-63 road loss to Michigan as slight two-point underdogs. The total stayed UNDER 132 ½ points in that loss and it has stayed UNDER in eight of their last 11 contests.

Rutgers (16-6 SU, 14-6-1 ATS) is 4-1 ATS in five previous road games this season. Rutgers is averaging 71.2 points per game and it climbs to 18th in the nation on defense in average points allowed (61.1). The are five players in the lineup averaging at least nine PPG.

Maryland is a half game out of first place in the Big Ten at 7-3 SU as part of a 17-4 record overall. It extended its current SU winning streak to four games with last Thursday’s 82-72 home victory against Iowa as a six-point favorite.

The Terrapins have now covered in their last five games with the total going OVER in the last three outings. Anthony Cowan Jr. exploded for a career-high 31 points against Iowa. Jalen Smith added 18 points with 14 rebounds as the team’s two most explosive players.

The Lions continue to hold a spot in the national rankings with a four-game winning streak both SU and ATS. They closed as underdogs in a recent home win against Ohio State and a road win against Michigan in that same span. The total has stayed UNDER in five of their last seven games.

Covering as an 8 ½-point road favorite, Penn State (16-5 SU, 12-8-1 ATS) got past Nebraska 76-64 this past Saturday. Myles Dread, Lamar Stevens and Myreon Jones combined to score 40 points. The Lions are averaging 76.9 PPG.

Saturday’s 64-63 road loss to Wisconsin as 5 ½-point favorites has the Spartans tied with Illinois at 8-3 SU for first place in the Big Ten. They are 16-6 SU overall and an even 11-11 ATS.

The total ended as a PUSH on 127 points in Saturday’s loss after staying UNDER in Michigan State’s previous six games. It is averaging 76.5 PPG behind senior guard Cassius Winston’s 18.2 points a game. He scored 23 points in Saturday’s loss.

This includes a 7-2 SU (6-3 ATS) record in Big East play. The total has stayed UNDER in four of the Wildcats’ last five games. Guard Collin Gillespie and forward Saddiq Bey are each averaging 15 points per game.

The 17-5 Bulldogs have just two SU wins in their last six games as part of a 5-4 record in conference play. They have failed to cover ATS in five of those six games to fall to 12-9-1 ATS. The Pirates’ extended 10-game SU winning streak came to an end with Saturday’s 74-62 home loss to Xavier as 8 ½-point favorites. This was their first SU loss in Big East play this season and they have now failed to cover in their last four games. Seton Hall is 16-5 SU with a 13-7-1 record ATS. It rolled to a 78-62 victory at home against Georgetown on Jan. 3 to easily cover the 6 ½-point spread. More recently, Senior guard Myles Powell (21.4 PPG) was held to just nine points in 35 minutes of playing time against Xavier. Guard Quincy McKnight is day-to-day with a knee injury.

The Hoyas have doubled up their Big East wins with losses to go 3-6 SU in conference play. They snapped a three-game skid (SU and ATS) with Sunday’s 73-73 squeaker against St. John’s as four-point road underdogs. The total has stayed UNDER in eight of their last 10 games. Georgetown is 13-9 SU overall and 10-11-1 ATS after failing to cover in seven of its last nine games. It did erase a 17-point deficit on Sunday to get a much needed win.
