  • Villanova beat No. 14 Florida State for AdvoCare title
    November 25, 2018
    By The Associated Press

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (AP) Villanova is making a case to get back into the Top 25.

Collin Gillespie had 17 points, including two key late free throws, and the Wildcats won the AdvoCare Invitational by beating No. 14 Florida State 66-60 non Saturday.

''He loves the competition,'' Villanova coach Jay Wright said. ''I'm just glad he's on our side.''

Gillespie made it 64-60 by connecting on a pair of free throws with 11.2 seconds to play in what was a tight second half.

Eric Paschall had 15 points and Phil Booth chipped in 12 for the defending national champions (5-2). Dhamir Cosby-Roundtree had 11 points and eight rebounds.

Villanova went from No. 8 to out of the Top 25 - the first time since December 2013 - in last Monday's poll after losing to Michigan 73-46 in a rematch of last season's championship game and losing 76-68 in overtime to Furman.

Florida State (5-1) got 11 points from both Mfiondu Kabengele and Trent Forrest.

''They did a much better job of playing to their strengths than we did ours,'' Florida State coach Leonard Hamilton said. ''I thought our guys gave good effort. I think that we're a team that has a chance to develop into a pretty good basketball team.''

The Seminoles' next game is Wednesday night against No. 24 Purdue.

''You only find out some of those areas that you need to work on when you play against great teams, high-caliber teams like we faced today,'' Hamilton said.

Villanova's Mikal Bridges, Jalen Brunson, Donte DiVincenzo and Omari Spellman were all taken in the NBA draft after last year's championship run.

''We've grown so much,'' Wright said. ''This whole season we've got to have a growth mindset.''

Gillespie had nine points to help Villanova take a 26-25 halftime lead. The Wildcats (eight) and Florida State (nine).

    OKLAHOMA STATE 90, NO. 19 LSU 77

LSU's stay in the Top 25 appears over.

Cameron McGriff had 28 points. Lindy Waters added 16, and Oklahoma State won the third-place game.

Skylar Mays scored 20 points for the Tigers, who were coming off a 79-76 overtime loss to No. 14 Florida State on Friday.

''Not a lot to say, we got whipped,'' LSU coach Will Wade said. ''I didn't have us prepared. We got beat in every facet. It was a rough, rough afternoon for us.''

Oklahoma State (4-2) beat Memphis 84-64 and lost to defending national champion Villanova 77-58 earlier in the invitational.

''Today wasn't just about winning third place, that was on the line, but this is a game that I think will have a long lasting effect on our resume for postseason hopes,'' Oklahoma State coach Mike Boynton said. ''It's something that we can certainly build on and look to as that something that we can be proud of.''

McGriff hit a 3 and Waters made three free throws during a second-half opening 15-2 run that put Oklahoma State ahead 57-39 with 13 minutes to play.

LSU missed 12 of its 13 shots during the Cowboys' surge.

''I'm ready to get back to work,'' Mays said. ''Obviously, the way we performed this week it's not up to par.''

McGriff had 13 points as Oklahoma State grabbed a 42-37 halftime advantage. The Cowboys lead by 13 points 5 + minutes into the game.

    ---

    CHARLESTON 78, MEMPHIS 75

Orlando-area native Grant Riller scored 32 points and added a career-high nine assists, Jarrell Brantley had 19 points, and Charleston won the fifth-place game.

Former Orlando Magic star and first-year Memphis coach Penny Hardway saw his team drop two of three at the invitational.

''I'm growing as a coach,'' Hardaway said. ''I want to compete. I don't want to be a laughingstock and then talk about moral victories. We're trying to build a culture, and the guys here, we're all going to have to step up and push toward that culture.''

Riller had 33 points, the second-highest total ever at the invitational, in Friday's 74-51 win over UAB.

Tyler Harris had 25 points for Memphis (3-3).

Brantley made two free throws as Charleston (5-2) went ahead 76-75 with 31.3 seconds remaining.

Riller helped secure the win with a pair of free throws with 15 seconds to play. Jeremiah Martin's lay up put Memphis up 75-74 with 1:02 left. He finished with 11 points to became the 52nd player in school history to reach 1,000 points.

Harris had 16 points as Memphis took a 42-40 lead at the half.

Riller and Brevin Galloway scored 15 apiece during the opening 20 minutes.

    ---

    UAB 68, CANISIUS 58

Zack Bryant had 26 points, seven steals and four assists as UAB rallied from an early 15-point deficit to beat Canisius 68-58 in the seventh-place game.

Jeremiah Bell scored 15 for UAB (4-2), which had previously lost to No. 14 Florida State and Charleston at the invitational.

''We showed a lot of heart and fight, and I think our team really grew up today,'' UAB coach Robert Ehsan said. ''As a young team facing adversity, to be down a third straight day and not quit shows a huge resilience.''

After Canisius got within two late, Bell hit a three and Bryant had a lay up during a 7-0 run that made it 65-56.

Takal Molson had 15 points and Scott Hitchon added 13 for Canisius (1-5).

Bryant had 14 first-half points as UAB used a 20-5 run to tie it at 31-31 with just under a minute to go in the first half.

Canisius led 35-31 at the break.

        6) Colts -7.5 (683)- L

        Season record: 37-32-3

        **********

Armadillo: Monday's List of 13: Den: Wrapping up a sports Sunday

Seahawks 30, Panthers 27— Carolina had ball nine times in this game; they got inside Seattle 20-yard line on seven of those nine drives, but scored only 27 points, which isn’t good, and it cost them this game- they also missed a 51-yard FG on one of the two drives that didn’t get into the red zone. Panthers also fumbled five times, though they didn’t lose any of them.

Carolina lost its last three games, with no takeaways in any of them; this was their first home loss this season. Seattle passes the Panthers in Wild Card race; they’re 10-6-2 in last 18 games as a road underdog.

Browns 35, Bengals 20— Maybe it is Hue Jackson’s fault; Browns won two of three games since they sent Jackson away, scoring 28-35 points in last two games. Bengals brought Jackson on as an assistant coach and haven’t won since, giving up 51-24-35 points in their last three games.

Cleveland’s offense in first half: 4 drives, 37 plays, 289 yards, four TD’s. They ran out the last 0:32 of the first half with a fifth drive.

Andy Dalton hurt his thumb in this game, as Cincy lost for 5th time in last six tries.

Browns ended a 25-game losing streak with this win.

Buccaneers 27, 49ers 9— This doesn’t happen much, but every so often, handicapping is a simple game. Saturday night, 49ers’ LB Reuben Foster was arrested at the team’s hotel and charged with domestic violence. The night before a game- brilliant!!! This makes the 49ers a go-against play.

49ers released Foster after the game.

Buccaneers gained 400+ yards for 6th time in last seven games, but won for first time in last five weeks. For once, they didn’t turn the ball over, going +3 in turnovers.

        Eagles 25, Giants 22:
        — Giants in first half: 5 drives, 38 plays, 346 yards, 19 points
        — Giants in second half: 5 drives, 22 plays, 56 yards, 3 points.
        — Philly was scoreless in first quarter for 5th game in a row.
        — Eagles won 17 of their last 21 games against the Giants.

Unless Saquon Barkley is hurt and Giants are hushing it up, they committed malpractice here by not feeding him the ball enough. 13 runs, 8 pass targets wasn’t near enough in this game and for the love of God, if you go for two points from the 1-yard line, give him the bleeping ball!!!!

Bills 24, Jaguars 21— This game was like a throwback to the 70’s; both teams ran for more yards than they threw for; Bills completed only 8 passes all day, but on an unseasonably warm day in western NY (44 degrees), Jacksonville lost its 7th game in a row.

Bills’ rookie QB Allen ran the ball 13 times for 99 yards; unless he learns to slide or get OB and avoid big hits, he is going to have a short NFL career. He’s got talent, but he’s got to preserve his health, or else……..

Ravens 34, Raiders 17— Speaking of running QB’s, Lamar Jackson toned it down in this game, running only 11 times, after 27 runs LW; Jackson is 2-0 as an NFL starter while Oakland lost for 6th time in its last seven games. Raiders are 15 for their last 55 on third down.

Patriots 27, Jets 13— New England is now 13-2 in last 15 series games; they gained 498 yards in this game, averaging 9.1 yards/pass attempt in a game where Jets had 10-yard advantage in field position. Patriots won last five series games played in the New Jersey swamp; they’re 14-7 vs spread in last 21 games as road favorites.

Gonzaga scored 120-104 points in its two wins over teams ranked outside top 200; Zags are #118 experience team that starts two sophs, two juniors- they beat Duke on Wednesday, their last game.

Idaho State lost two of first three D-I games, last of which was 11 days ago, but they won at Boise State, a solid win. Bengals are #90 experience team that is starting five juniors- their eFG% is #296 in country, but that is skewed by an ugly 120-76 loss at Gonzaga. Pepperdine split its first four D-I games, winning two of three at an event in the Bahamas. NCAA Basketball Game Preview - Indiana Hoosiers at Duke Blue Devils

The Duke Blue Devils aren’t invincible. That’s what Gonzaga proved last week. However, they are still very good, and the Indiana Hoosiers are going to get a taste of that this week. This is a matchup between two of the most successful programs in the history of college basketball. Duke is still on top but Indiana doesn’t have that type of talent this year.

Indiana would love nothing more than to go on the road and pull an upset that would no doubt be a huge benefit for March Madness purposes. However, the Hoosiers more likely goal will be covering the spread because Duke has a dominant team and will be backed by a raucous crowd.

The Blue Devils will aim to get back on track in this one and should have no issue doing so in NCAA basketball gambling.

This NCAA basketball game between the Indiana Hoosiers and Duke Blue Devils will be held at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, North Carolina at 10:30 p.m ET on Tuesday, November 27th, 2018. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN.

We'll have NCAA basketball odds at BookMaker.eu available for every game of the 2018 NCAA basketball season.

                Odds Analysis

The Duke Blue Devils are 5-1 on the season. They fell for the first time last time out against Gonzaga but still might be the best team in the country. Duke has played a pair of games at home this season and has won both of them.

Indiana is also 5-1 on the season. It lost to Arkansas by a point on November 18 but has otherwise gone unblemished. The loss to the Razorbacks was the Hoosiers’ lone road game of the year thus far. Both teams can really score so the scoring total figures to be pretty high for this matchup in NCAA basketball odds.

                Last Time Out

There were some expecting Duke to go much of the year without a loss so the defeat to Gonzaga was certainly a surprise. The Blue Devils fell behind by as many as 16 points in the second half but rallied before falling short, 89-87. Gonzaga missed multiple free throws down the stretch to give Duke a chance but the Blue Devils had four shots blocked in the last couple minutes as they couldn’t complete the comeback.

Star freshman Zion Williams had 22 points and 10 rebounds while while R.J. Barrett had a team-high 23 points. Even though Duke lost it was a good learning experience that may pay dividends down the road.

                Player To Watch

Juwan Morgan -- The Indiana big man should play a big role in whether or not the Hoosiers can hang around in this one. He is averaging 17.5 points, 9.0 blocks and 1.3 blocks per game on the season. Morgan is shooting 71.7 percent from the floor and hopes to get a multitude of easy buckets.

Morgan struggles from the free throw line and Duke would be smart to send him there when he has an easy look at the basket. Duke has the talent advantage on the court so the Hoosiers need players to step up, and Morgan is at the top of that list.

The loss last time out was but a bump in what should be a special season for Duke. Williamson should be able to dominate this game and the Blue Devils will pull away. Indiana is trying to prove it can hang with the big boys but this will be a dose of reality.

Take Duke in a blowout victory at home in NCAA basketball betting. The “under” could be the right call as the scoring will slow down late when the game is in hand.

NCAA Basketball Pick: Duke Blue Devils 87, Indiana Hoosiers 70

                • Experienced Gonzaga, UVA stand tall early
                  November 26, 2018
                  By The Associated Press

PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas (AP) Experienced Gonzaga and Virginia sent not-so-subtle reminders not to discount talented, veteran-led teams.

While Duke and its vaunted freshmen class were the talk college basketball for the first two weeks of the season, Gonzaga and Virginia walked away with titles to cap off Thanksgiving holiday tournaments.

The Zags held off the much-ballyhooed Blue Devils to win the Maui Invitational in what could have been a preview of a late-March showdown. At the other end of the spectrum were the Cavaliers, who beat No. 25 Wisconsin to win the Battle 4 Atlantis in a low-scoring game featuring teams content to grind it out with defense and clock-melting stretches that limited the number of possessions and magnified any mistake.

                  Both styles worked.

''We said we want to learn something as every team would as they come into this tournament,'' Virginia coach Tony Bennett said after Friday's win against the Badgers and preseason Associated Press All-American Ethan Happ.

Experience also showed for No. 6 Nevada and No. 11 Michigan State in winning separate brackets at the Las Vegas Invitational , with both being led by upperclassmen (Wolf Pack fifth-year senior Caleb Martin and Spartans junior Cassius Winston) who earned MVP honors. And in Michigan State's case, that title came by maintaining poise well enough to rally from 19 down against Texas.

Here are some takeaways from those holiday tournaments:

                  MAUI'S TOP TRIO

Maui had the best field of the week with Duke, Gonzaga and No. 8 Auburn, so there were plenty of measuring-stick moments among legitimate Final Four contenders.

No team was more impressive than Gonzaga - in any tournament.

The Zags offense created problems for Duke, with the Blue Devils having a hard time deciphering all their ball screens and motion. Gonzaga will only get stronger when 6-foot-10 junior Killian Tillie returns from preseason ankle surgery in the coming weeks. Tournament MVP Rui Hachimura, a versatile and aggressive 6-8 junior forward, is establishing himself as one of the nation's top players.

But it was Gonzaga's defensive efforts that most impressed coach Mark Few, who said, ''We can really build on that.''

                  DOMINANT HUNTER

Virginia showcased a growing, game-changing presence in 6-7 redshirt sophomore De'Andre Hunter.

Hunter was the Atlantis MVP in the Bahamas after three sometimes-dominant performances. First came a near triple-double against Middle Tennessee. Then he matched a career-high with 23 points and hit a key 3-pointer with about a minute left to help hold off Dayton . He closed with 20 points against Wisconsin.

He was the ACC's sixth man of the year last year but suffered a broken wrist that sidelined him for the NCAA Tournament - and the Cavs certainly missed him as they struggled to contain UMBC's guards in that unprecedented 16-vs-1 March upset. As long as he stays healthy, he's a weapon at both ends alongside veterans Kyle Guy and Ty Jerome, not to mention Virginia's best NBA prospect by far.

''You look at the length and the dimensions, and some of those nice plays he makes offensively,'' Bennett said. ''But I get equally excited about what he's doing defensively, spreading out and being able to guard sometimes a 4, sometimes a perimeter guy. And his alertness took a step in the right direction.''

                  CHAMPS BACK?

There is reason for optimism at Villanova, though the reigning national champs still have work to do.

The Wildcats looked befuddled in a blowout home loss to Michigan in a rematch of last year's title game and an overtime home loss to Furman , which knocked the Wildcats out of the Top 25 poll. Guard Phil Booth said at the time the Wildcats are ''a young team trying to find our way.''

Villanova looked more like it had figured out that path at the AdvoCare Invitational in Orlando, Florida.

The Wildcats beat Canisius, Oklahoma State and No. 14 Florida State. Sunday's 66-60 win against the Seminoles prompted coach Jay Wright to note: ''We've grown so much.''

And they are still growing, trying to replace the talent from last year's title winner, including AP national player of the year Jalen Brunson and Final Four most outstanding player Donte DiVincenzo.

                  ON POINT

Freshman Coby White could be taking hold of the starting point guard job for North Carolina.

He had 33 points - the most by a UNC freshman since Harrison Barnes had 40 in the 2011 Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament - and seven 3-pointers in the loss to Texas in the Las Vegas Invitational. He followed with 19 points and eight assists against UCLA.

The production came with junior point guard Seventh Woods sidelined by a concussion. Woods lacks White's scoring potential but has 27 assists with just six turnovers.

                  REPLACING YOUNG

Oklahoma senior guard Christian James appears ready to fill the scoring void created by the one-and-done departure of Trae Young to the NBA.

Young led the country in scoring and assists; James arrived at the Battle 4 Atlantis averaging a Big 12-best 22.7 points.

James had at least 18 points in three straight games as Oklahoma finished third. Coach Lon Kruger has said he expects it will have to be a group effort this year to replace Young's production, but added: James ''is shooting with confidence and making good plays.''

James said his teammates are telling him they need him to score and ''that takes a load off of me knowing I can relax and play my game and let it flow.''

                    • Gonzaga wins first game as nation's No. 1
                      November 26, 2018
                      By The Associated Press

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) Trayvon Reed scored 23 points and John Jones added 20 to help Texas Southern shock No. 18 Oregon with an 89-84 victory Monday night.

Reed, a 7-foot-2 senior, made all nine of his shots and also was 5-for-5 from the foul line for the Tigers (2-4), who were 24-point underdogs.

It was just the fourth nonconference loss at home for the Ducks since Matthew Knight Arena opened in 2011.

Oregon led by 13 points early in the second half before the Tigers rallied. Reed's dunk with 9:59 left in the game capped a 23-8 run and gave the Tigers a 61-59 advantage. Bol Bol, the Ducks' 7-2 freshman center, had 32 points and 11 rebounds for his third double-double. He hit two free throws with 3:20 left to tie the game at 75.

Reed then scored four straight points to give the Tigers a 79-75 advantage with 2:18 left. Will Richardson hit two free throws 12 seconds later to get Oregon back within two.

Derrick Bruce had eight of his 13 points in the final 1:11 to seal the win, including making all six of his free throws in the final 43 seconds.

Payton Pritchard had 14 points, and Will Richardson and Victor Bailey Jr. added 13 each for Oregon (4-2).

No. 1 GONZAGA 102, NORTH DAKOTA STATE 60

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - Brandon Clarke and Rui Hachimura each scored 18 points as Gonzaga beat North Dakota State to remain undefeated.

Corey Kispert added 17 points and Zach Norvell Jr. 15 for Gonzaga (7-0), which reached No. 1 in The Associated Press Top 25 earlier in the day by virtue of beating former No. 1 Duke at the Maui Invitational.

Vinnie Shahid scored 16 points for North Dakota State (2-5), which shot just 36 percent in the game.

Clarke made all nine of his field goal attempts and added eight rebounds and five blocks for Gonzaga. Six Zags scored in double figures.

Gonzaga has beaten four teams from Power Five conferences already this season, and came in averaging 97 points per game to 71 for the Bison.

North Dakota State stayed close early, and led 19-18 with just over 10 minutes left in the first.

No. 25 MISSISSIPPI STATE 88, ALCORN STATE 65

STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) - Nick Weatherspoon and Lamar Peters both scored 17 points, Reggie Perry added 16 points and 11 rebounds and Mississippi State beat Alcorn State.

Mississippi State was efficient on offense, shooting 33 of 54 (61 percent) from the field. Weatherspoon shot 6 of 10, including 2 of 3 from 3-point range. Peters was 6 of 9 shooting, including 5 of 8 from behind the arc.

The Bulldogs led by as many as 33 points in the second half. Quinndary Weatherspoon added 14 points and Tyson Carter had 10.

Mississippi State (5-1) was a little careless with turnovers in the opening minutes, but recovered to push its lead to 44-29 by halftime. The Bulldogs shot 17 of 25 (68 percent) from the field in the first half, including 4 of 6 from 3-point range.

Alcorn State (1-6) was led by Deshaw Andrews, who scored 26 points. The Braves shot just 37.3 percent from the field.

Tuesday’s List of 13: Nobody asked me, but…….

                          13) OK, first thing today, I’d like some feedback from you, the reader; whats your favorite Christmas song? I’ll post some of the more interesting answers I get sometime before Christmas.

E-mail me at [email protected] Thanks.

                          12) Jacksonville Jaguars fired offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett Monday, then named Cody Kessler their new starting QB for their home game against the Colts this week.

Previous starter Blake Bortles had started 70+ consecutive games for Jacksonville, but the team’s 7-game losing streak cost him his starting job, at least for now. During Bortles’ tenure as the Jaguars’ starting QB, Jacksonville fired three offensive coordinators.

                          11) We all think its great to be a pro athlete or a celebrity, but can you imagine what it is like to be sitting at home Monday night watching the ballgame and while a Tennessee player is hurt. the TV geniuses decide to analyze whats wrong with the Jaguars.

All of a sudden, it becomes a “bash Bortles” thing; we all know that QB’s get too much credit and too much blame, thats why they get paid a lot of cash. But it still has to be weird to be sitting at home and hear guys who may or may not know a lot critiquing your career.

                          10) Aaron Rodgers lost his last eight road starts; it’s the longest road losing streak by a Packers QB since David Whitehurst lost nine straight from 1978-81.

                          9) Bengals lost QB Andy Dalton (hand) for the season; backup Jeff Driskel will get his first NFL start Sunday at home against Denver. Driskel has thrown 36 passes in four NFL games; he was 17-29 passing in Sunday’s loss to the Browns.

                          8) Texans 34, Titans 17— When did it become OK for football coaches to become reckless and go for it on 4th down whenever they feel like it? The NFL is a multi-billion dollar business, do things that are smart!!!

Down 14-10 late in 2nd quarter, Tennessee had 4th-and-1 on the Houston 2-yard line. Instead of doing the smart thing, kicking a FG to make it 14-13, Titans not only go for it, they give the ball to a backup TE masquerading as a fullback, first time he ever carried the ball in the NFL.

The play doesn’t work, Houston runs the next play 97 yards for a TD and school is out. There is a proper time to be conservative and/or “normal.” You do enough goofy things that don’t work, and your players will stop believing in you.

                          7) Last week was the first time the Big East didn’t have anyone in college basketball’s top 25 since February, 1982. Villanova is back in the top 25 this week.

                          6) Of the first 85 games ACC basketball teams played this month, only four of them were true road games, and North Carolina played two of those (Wofford, Elon).

                          5) Atlanta Braves signed C Brian McCann to replace Kurt Suzuki and fill out their platoon at catcher with Tyler Flowers. Braves are also expected to sign 3B Josh Donaldson to a one-year deal, which Donaldson would use to get a longer deal at this time next year.

                          4) Red Sox beat the Dodgers in the World Series; the difference in each player’s winning share and losing share of World Series money: $154,810.23.

                          3) Random fact: 19,429 baseball players have made it to the major leagues.

                          2) Ole Miss football team went 0-8 against the spread in conference games this season, the first SEC team to do that, since at least 1985. They’re fifth team since 2005 in any conference to go winless against the spread in league play.

                          1) This week, Rhode Island became the 8th state to have legalized sports betting; New York hasn’t done a damn thing yet, while everyone goes over to New Jersey to bet, and spend money on food and Christmas shopping. Brilliant!!!

                              David Schwab

First up is the Pittsburgh Panthers on the road against the Iowa Hawkeyes. The North Carolina State Wolfpack are in Madison to take on the Wisconsin Badgers and the highlight of the night is a 9:30 p.m. tip in Durham between the Indiana Hoosiers and the No. 3 Duke Blue Devils.

Pittsburgh Panthers at Iowa Hawkeyes (ESPNU, 9:00 p.m. ET)

                              Opening Odds: Iowa -13 ½, Total 152 ½

                              Betting Matchup

As Pitts’ football team prepares to face Clemson in the ACC Championship, the basketball team will be trying to extend its current SU winning streak to seven games. The Panthers have been able to cover in five of their first six games, including a big 75-73 upset against St. Louis last Wednesday as four-point underdogs. The total has gone OVER in four of those first six games.

Iowa is also undefeated at 5-0 SU, but it has been a tough bet at 2-3 ATS. The total has gone OVER in three of those five games. The Hawkeyes’ biggest win so far was 77-69 victory against Oregon as four-point underdogs on Nov. 15. The next night, Iowa hammered Connecticut 91-72 to easily cover as a 4 ½-point favorite. Sophomore forward Luke Garza has been the team’s leading scorer with 16.2 points per game.

                              Betting Trends

--The Panthers are just 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games playing a Big Ten Team and the total has stayed UNDER in four of their last five matchups against this conference.

--The Hawkeyes are 5-17 ATS in their last 22 ACC matchups and the total has gone OVER in 22 of their last 30 home games.

--This will be the first meeting between the two in recent memory.

North Carolina State Wolfpack at Wisconsin Badgers (ESPN 2, 9:00 p.m. ET)

Opening Odds: Wisconsin -7, Total 144

                              Betting Matchup

The Wolfpack are another ACC team with perfect SU 6-0 start in their first six games. They have been able to cover in four of those six outings after closing as heavy double-digit favorites in all six contests. The total has stayed UNDER in four of the six games. Senior guard Torin Dorn has led the way with 18.2 points and 7.2 rebounds a game. He put up 19 points and pulled down nine rebounds in NC State’s recent win against Mercer.

Wisconsin’s lone setback against five SU wins was a 53-46 loss to Virginia last Friday in the Battle 4 Atlantis championship round. The Badgers closed as four-point underdogs and it was the first time they failed to cover in their last five games. Their biggest SU win of the season came against Xavier on Nov. 13 in a 77-68 victory as slight two-point underdogs. Wisconsin is averaging 74.0 points per game while allowing just 57.8 PPG at the other end of the court.

                              Betting Trends

--The Wolfpack have failed to cover in 20 of their last 27 road games and they are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games against the Big Ten.

--The Badgers are 18-8 ATS in their last 26 games against an ACC team and the total has stayed UNDER in five of their last six games.

--Wisconsin has won the previous two meetings both SU and ATS with the total evenly split at 1-1.

Indiana Hoosiers at No. 3 Duke Blue Devils (ESPN, 9:30 p.m. ET)

                              Opening Odds: Duke -13 ½, Total 155

                              Betting Matchup

Indiana faced Duke at home in last season’s ACC/Big Ten Challenge as 8 ½-point underdogs and it went onto lose 91-81. Heading into this season’s matchup, the Hoosiers are off to a solid 5-1 start straight-up. However, they have failed to cover against the spread in their last three games, including a 73-72 road loss to Arkansas as 3 ½-point favorites. All five wins have come on their home court.

The Blue Devils quickly moved to No. 1 in the nation with an impressive 118-84 victory against Kentucky as two-point underdogs in their season opener. They dropped a few spots in the latest AP Top 25 with last Wednesday’s 89-87 loss to Gonzaga as eight-point favorites. Duke has averaged 91.8 points per game in its SU 5-1 start. It has gone an even 3-3 ATS with the total staying UNDER in four of the six games.

                              Betting Trends

--The Hoosiers are 1-4 ATS in their last five ACC games and the total has stayed UNDER or ended as a PUSH in eight of their last nine road games.

--The Blue Devils have covered the spread in nine of their last 11 games against a team from the Big Ten and the total has stayed UNDER in 12 of their last 16 home games.

--The road team in this matchup has covered ATS in four of the last five meetings with the total going OVER in three of those five games.
