  • Fever, Liberty meet in battle of frustrated teams

The Indiana Fever and the New York Liberty are experiencing frustration for different reasons in the early weeks of the regular season.

Indiana remains the league's only winless team and New York is encountering difficulties with close games.

Only one of these struggling teams will get a chance to experience elation from winning on Sunday at the Westchester County Civic Center in White Plains, N.Y.

Indiana (0-7) has lost its last 15 regular-season games since an 84-82 home win over the Minnesota Lynx on Aug. 6. The Fever also have dropped their last nine regular-season road games since beating the Phoenix Mercury on July 19.

The Fever are off to the worst start in team history and their 76.3 points per game are the lowest in the league. Indiana is allowing 86.6 per game.

Indiana is coming off its best chance to win when it dropped an 89-83 home decision to the Dallas Wings. After trailing by double digits in their first six games, the Fever blew a 13-point lead, getting outscored 56-37 in the final 22:54.

"It (stinks) because we're fighting hard," said rookie guard Kelsey Mitchell, who tied a career high with 26 points and is the first Indiana rookie to score at least 20 points in consecutive games since 2003. "People may have their criticisms of us, but we are working. When you fall short like that, it hurts."

"This is going to sting; it's going to hurt," Indiana coach Pokey Chatman told reporters. "I hear sniffles and crying in there. I'm like, 'Good.' When you work so hard and it means that much to you, you're going to correct that. We'll get to that point."

New York knows about falling short. Each of its first six games has been decided by six points or less, but the Liberty have lost four times.

The Liberty have dropped the last two since rookie Kia Nurse scored 34 points on June 2 in an 87-81 overtime win at Indiana. After taking an 80-74 loss to the Mercury on Tuesday at Madison Square Garden, the Liberty were handed an 88-86 loss by the Connecticut Suns on Thursday.

Thursday's game might have been the toughest of any loss to take for the Liberty when it ended on a four-point play after they blew a 15-point lead.

New York sustained its latest loss when Connecticut's Shekinna Stricklen hit the go-ahead 3-pointer at the buzzer and sank the ensuing foul shot.

"It's heartbreaking," New York's Marissa Coleman said. "We did some good things toward the end to put us in a position to win that game."

"We're right there if we keep holding each other accountable and encouraging each other and motivating each other," New York's Tina Charles said. "We're right there. We just have to put it together."

Charles led the Liberty with 24 points Thursday, and her 23.8 points per game lead the league. She has not scored fewer than 18 points in a game so far and has three double-doubles.

She scored 23 in the last meeting when the Liberty were outscored 42-25 in the second half before escaping in overtime.

"We just played (Indiana) and that was somewhat of a trap game in a sense," New York coach Katie Smith said. "You look at their record and assume it's going to be easy and we almost got our tails beat.

"Hopefully, our mentality of understanding is that they are a scary team. They can put up points pretty easily and quickly if you let them get rolling."

New York has won the last four meetings.

    • Sky, Sparks look to get back on winning track

Having a short memory is pretty good advice every now and then.

That should be the mindset of the Los Angeles Sparks and the Chicago Sky, who face off Sunday at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The Sky lost by 17 points to the Phoenix Mercury on Friday. The Sparks had an extra day to stew about a 25-point loss to the Seattle Storm.

It's probably better they both move on from those debacles. The Sky certainly have reason to be excited despite dropping to 3-4.

Rookie Gabby Williams scored a career-high 26 points on 10-of-13 shooting in the 96-79 loss. That's no easy feat, going up against the likes of Brittany Griner and DeWanna Bonner.

"I was just trying to stay out of the paint with Brittney Griner in there," Williams said after the game. "Just hit those mid-range jumpers and shots were falling. Attacking at full speed and getting to the rim."

The Sky could use Williams' scoring punch. Chicago is mired in the middle of the pack in scoring at 80.3 points per game. Allie Quigley leads the team at 17.3 points per game. Diamond DeShields and Courtney Vandersloot follow at 13.9 and 13.3, respectively.

"She's a gamer. We knew from her UConn days that we can rely on her to put up numbers," Vandersloot said of Williams. "She does so much more than that for us, and it's not always going to show up in that stat sheet, but she can have nights like this. We just need to put some more people around her. Other people need to step up and she shouldn't have to do it all by herself."

Balance is also the key for the 4-2 Sparks, who lost to the Storm in Los Angeles for the first time since 2015 -- and it was over almost before it started. Los Angeles trailed 15-4 and scored only nine first-quarter points.

Seattle opened a 20-point lead in the third quarter and sailed to the victory.

Nneka Ogwumike led the Sparks with 19 points. Los Angeles' other starters were held to single digits. Candace Parker, playing in only her third game, was held to six points.

An important reinforcement is on the way for the Sparks. On Saturday, they activated first-round pick Maria Vadeeva. The 19-year-old was expected to arrive in Los Angeles on Saturday from Russia and be in uniform on Sunday.

The 6-foot-4 rookie center was the 11th overall pick in the 2018 WNBA Draft.

"We couldn't be more excited to have Maria start her Sparks career," general manager Penny Toler said. "Maria has experience going up against some of the best WNBA players in Europe, and at age 19 the sky's the limit when thinking about her development and potential."

While playing professionally in Europe, Vadeeva averaged 9.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.1 blocks in 19.1 minutes per game last season.

      • Mercury host Aces with four-game win streak in tow

The Phoenix Mercury enter Sunday's game against the Las Vegas Aces on a four-game winning streak with their execution and scoring at maximum potential.

The struggling Aces (1-6) travel to play the Mercury (6-3) suffering from a lack of consistency on the offensive end.

Las Vegas rookie forward A'ja Wilson had a team-high 20 points and nine rebounds in Friday's 87-83 home loss to Atlanta, but she made only 6 of 18 shots from the field and was 1 of 8 in the second half.

In an attempt to improve his offensive execution, Las Vegas coach Bill Laimbeer inserted guard Kelsey Plum into the starting lineup for the first time Friday. Plum, a rookie who starred at Washington, is the NCAA career scoring record holder.

She struggled to get in the flow and went scoreless in 15 minutes.

The game at Phoenix begins a four-game, six-day road trip, which Laimbeer hopes will create a better bond between his players away from home.

"We're trying to find a cohesive situation," he said. "I'm pushing any button I can to get five players (to play together). ... I keep saying we're learning, but I don't know how fast we're learning."

Phoenix coach Sandy Brondello has relaxed her defensive-minded tendencies by allowing her team more freedom on the offensive end.

That approach is paying dividends in the Mercury's four-game winning streak. In a 96-79 home win over the Chicago Sky on Friday night, the Mercury led from start to finish. They are averaging 87.3 points over the last four games.

"We've got some pretty awesome players here," Brondello said. "Let's play to them. Put a little more focus on the offense and hope we can build the defense in that way."

All five Mercury starters scored in double figures against Chicago, led by center Brittney Griner with 24 points. Griner also had a team-high eight rebounds.

"Lately we've just been having the big three (Griner, Diana Taurasi and DeWanna Bonner) score, but Bri (January) is a fantastic 3-point shooter," Brondello said. "It was great for her to see that ball go down. Sancho (Lyttle) is always solid. She had a lot of wide-open looks and made them.

"This is an experienced team, and when we needed to buckle down (defensively), we did. We fought over screens much harder than we did in that third quarter. Our rotations off the ball were where they needed to be. And they made a lot of shots. But when we need to play defense, we can."

        • Defensive-minded Dream visit high-scoring Storm

The Atlanta Dream will get another chance to prove their defense is among the best in the WNBA.

The Dream (4-3), which limited the previously undefeated Connecticut Sun in an 82-70 victory Tuesday, travel Sunday to Seattle to face a Storm team that leads the league with 91.1 points per game.

Connecticut had scored 100 or more points in three of its first four games this year.

"We just talked as a team and said, 'Nobody is scoring 100 points on us.' So, that was that," said Dream guard Tiffany Hayes, who had 22 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals in the victory. "I think our defense is one of the best in the league. We can't just have people coming to our home court and scoring 100 points. We definitely had a talk as a team that we're not going to let that happen."

Teammate Renee Montgomery credited rookie coach Nicki Collen, a former Connecticut assistant, for her preparation.

"We always have the upper hand because of (Collen). Seriously. OK, this is her old team, but her (scouting reports) are out of this world. She'll watch every game of the team we're about to play twice. It's crazy."

The Dream opened their three-game trip with an 87-83 victory Friday night in Las Vegas against the Aces, with Hayes scoring 24 points and Angel McCoughtry adding 23 points, nine rebounds and six assists.

The Storm (6-2) lead the Western Conference and are one game behind Connecticut for the league's best record.

Seattle is led by forward Breanna Stewart (21.5 points per game) and guard Jewell Loyd (20.1). The Storm set a league record with 17 3-pointers in their last home game, a 101-74 victory against the Aces on May 31.

The Storm are coming off an 88-63 victory at Los Angeles. Alysha Clark led Seattle with a season-high 17 points, with Stewart and Natasha Howard each scoring 16.

The Storm limited the Sparks to 37.3 percent shooting from the field and a season low in points.

"I would say defensively, it was our best game," first-year Storm coach Dan Hughes said. "It was a good example of how one end of the court impacts the other end of the court. But defensively we just seemed really focused, really active and locked in."

Hughes has gotten a reputation as a defensive guru in his 17 years as a coach in the WNBA. But he said he realizes with players such as Stewart, Loyd and veteran point guard Sue Bird, the Storm are an offensive threat.

"I like the game going up and down," Hughes told the Seattle Times. "We're not going to set defensive records as far as numbers, but if we're efficient that's key."

            • Diana Taurasi scores 25 points, Mercury beat Aces 72-66
              June 10, 2018

PHOENIX (AP) Diana Taurasi scored 25 points, Brittney Griner had 19 points, 15 rebounds and seven blocked shots and the Phoenix Mercury held off the Las Vegas Aces 72-66 on Sunday.

The Aces had a 10-1 run to close to 68-64 with about three minutes to go, but Griner had two blocked shots to give the Mercury (7-3) back-to-back defensive stops, and Taurasi hit a baseline 3-pointer to push the lead back to seven with 1:05 left.

DeWanna Bonner added 14 points and seven rebounds to help the Mercury win their fifth straight.

Phoenix had an 11-2 run to close the first half with 13-point lead and scored the opening basket of the third quarter to reach their largest lead at 52-37.

A'ja Wilson had 17 points for the Aces (1-7). Kayla McBride added 16, and Kelsey Plum had 12.

              SPARKS 77, SKY 59

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Candace Parker scored 24 points on 10-of-14 shooting and blocked three shots in Los Angeles' victory over Chicago.

The Sparks (5-2) never trailed and went on a 17-3 run starting late in the third quarter and extending into the fourth to build to their largest lead at 69-45.

Nneka Ogwumike added 16 points and eight rebounds, and Chelsea Gray scored 10 of her 15 points after the break for Los Angeles.

The Sky (3-5) made 21 of 74 (28.4 percent) shots from the field and hit only one of their first 21 3-point attempts before making the last two when the game was out of reach.

Cheyenne Parker had 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead Chicago. The Sky have lost five of six.

              LIBERTY 78, FEVER 75

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) - Marissa Coleman hit a tiebreaking 3-pointer with 16.1 seconds left to help New York beat winless Indiana.

With the game tied at 75, Coleman caught the ball on the wing and made the 3 against her former team. Coleman came to New York as a free agent in the offseason.

Indiana (0-8) had one last chance to tie it, but Kelsey Mitchell couldn't get a good look from behind the arc and her shot fell short. Mitchell finished with 19 points.

Sugar Rodgers led New York (3-4) with 16 points.

At 0-8, Indiana is off to the worst start in franchise history.

              DREAM 67, STORM 64

SEATTLE (AP) - Tiffany Hayes scored eight of her 23 points in the fourth quarter and Angel McCoughtry had 15 points and 10 rebounds in Atlanta's victory over Seattle.

Damiris Dantas added 12 points, and Jessica Breland had six points, three steals and a season-high 14 rebounds, one shy of her career best. The Dream (4-3) have won three in a row.

Natasha Howard led the Storm (5-3) with 15 points and a career-high 15 rebounds.

                • WNBA Betting Recap - 6/4-6/10
                  June 12, 2018

League Betting Notes (Monday, June 4 through Sunday, June 10)

-- Favorites went 9-4 straight up (SU)
-- Underdogs went 9-4 against the spread (ATS)
-- Road teams went 7-6 SU record
-- Home teams went 7-6 ATS record
                  -- The 'under' went 8-5

                  Team Betting Notes

-- As mentioned last week, Atlanta (5-3) has alternated wins and losses against the spread all season, going 4-4 ATS through eight games while failing to cover or not cover in consecutive outings. The 'under' has been very consistent, however, going 6-1 across their past seven.

-- Chicago (3-5) opened with a pair of victories, but it has been all downhill from there. They have dropped five of their past six games straight-up, while going 0-3-1 ATS across their past four outings. The 'over' has connected in four of the past five contests.

-- Dallas (4-3) has picked up wins in consecutive outings for the first time this season, although they're 1-2 ATS across the past three. They're also 2-3 ATS in the past five on the road, including 0-2 ATS in the past two away from home. The 'over' has cashed in three in a row, however.

-- Indiana (0-8) heads into the new week still searching for their first straight-up victory. While they haven't been able to break through in the win column on the WNBA floor, they have covered two in a row, and three of their past four. The 'over' has hit in five of their past seven. They're best chance at a victory might be Tuesday when they welcome expansion Las Vegas (1-7) to town.

-- Speaking of the Aces, they have dropped three in a row and seven of their first eight. However, Vegas has come up big at the betting window, cashing in two straight while going 3-0-1 ATS over the past four contests.

-- Minnesota (3-6) continues to stumble along, as they haven't won consecutive games since May 23-25. They're also coming up empty at the betting window, going just 1-8 ATS so far this season.

-- Los Angeles (5-2) hasn't been able to piece together more than two wins at a time so far, but they are doing well for total bettors. Their team defense lately has contributed to four consecutive 'under' results.

-- Connecticut (7-1) has been red hot, losing just once against the Dream on June 5. They have been money at home, going 4-0 SU/3-1 ATS.

-- Like the Dream above, Seattle (6-3) has alternated wins and losses against the spread so far through nine games, so if you believe in trends they'll cover Tuesday against the Sky before failing to cover against the Sun on Friday. We'll see.

                    • Fever, Aces enter matchup with one combined win

If the Indiana Fever are going to break out of the winless skid that has defined them through the first quarter of the WNBA season, they won't likely get a better chance than Tuesday's home matchup at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis against the Las Vegas Aces.

Las Vegas has tasted victory only once this year and was the worst team in the league in 2017.

But that one win is one better than the Fever, who have lost eight straight games to begin the season for the first time in franchise history.

Indiana fell to 0-8 with a 78-75 loss at New York on Sunday in a game featured 18 lead changes. Neither team led by more than four through the first half.

The Fever couldn't hold a late lead, with former Indiana stalwart Marissa Coleman ending the Fever's chances with a 3-pointer with 16 seconds to play.

Coleman's final 3-pointer was New York's 13th made shot from beyond the arc in the game, the most ever against Indiana.

Indiana got a game-high 19 points from Kelsey Mitchell, and Tiffany Mitchell scored 14 points for the Fever, reaching double figures for the seventh time in eight games. Victoria Vivians added 11 points and Natalie Achonwa contributed 10 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.

"We know that we are right there," said Achonwa, who registered the second double-double of her career to help Indiana to a 31-22 rebounding edge. "We know we need one more stop; one more shot; one more rebound; one more deflection; one fewer turnover. Everybody needs to improve just one percent more."

This will be Indiana's first meeting with the team from Las Vegas (1-7), which recently relocated to the Nevada desert after being founded in and playing for 15 years in San Antonio.

The Aces head to Indiana on the heels of a 72-66 loss at Phoenix on Sunday. Las Vegas whittled a 15-point Mercury lead to four with 3:17 to go but scored on just one of its remaining five possessions.

"Our defensive effort was better; we got mentally engaged," Aces coach Bill Laimbeer said. "When we really get that edge, we are a decent basketball team. We just have to do that for 40 minutes.

"We kept Phoenix on the perimeter and made them take some long shots, and that likely tired them out and helped us get back in the game."

Las Vegas got 17 points from A'ja Wilson, 16 from Kayla McBride and 12 from Kelsey Plum in the loss.

"But overall we have to put the ball in the basket, too, and we didn't do that (against Phoenix)," Laimbeer said. "To be a good basketball team, you have to do all the little things -- and some of those are shooting and rebounding."

As the WNBA's 11th-place team last season, Indiana was swept by the 12th-place Stars (now Aces), losing the three meetings in 2017 by an average of 11.7 points per game.

Through eight games, No. 1 overall pick and Aces center Wilson and No. 2 pick and Fever guard Mitchell are poised to race each other for the Rookie of the Year award. They are the top scoring rookies in the league, with Wilson sixth at 20.4 points per game and Mitchell ninth at 19.4 ppg.

                      • Mercury take five-game win streak into Dallas

The Phoenix Mercury will ride a five-game winning streak, their longest since 2015, when they travel to face a confident Dallas Wings team on Tuesday.

Dallas (4-3) has won three of its last four games, including an impressive 94-90 home win over the Seattle Storm on June 2. Seattle had a five-game winning streak heading into that game, similar to Phoenix.

The game is a rematch between Phoenix (7-3) and Dallas from the season-opener on May 18 in Phoenix, won by the Mercury 86-78. The Mercury must guard against looking ahead to an anticipated matchup with the WNBA's top team, the Connecticut Sun (7-1), on Saturday in Phoenix.

The Phoenix-Dallas matchup also features Round 2 of a matchup of top post players -- Brittney Griner of Phoenix and Liz Cambage of Dallas.

Cambage, a top international player from Australia returning to the WNBA after four seasons away, made six of her first nine shots for 14 first-half points and finished with 18 points and nine rebounds in the first game. Griner battled through foul trouble to finish with 13 points and seven rebounds.

Griner is coming off a near triple-double in Phoenix's 72-66 win over the visiting Las Vegas Aces on Sunday. She finished with 19 points, 15 rebounds and seven blocked shots. Her 15 rebounds are the most for her since September 2016.

"Blocks keep them from scoring and give us another possession," Griner said. "I've gotten better at trying to keep it in play and block it without hitting them with my body. Jump away but still get the block. Because blocking, then getting a foul, that's the worst.

As for her 15 rebounds, Griner said she told Phoenix coach Sandy Brondello, "Don't get used to it."

"It's a conscious effort I have to make to go try to get a board, but tonight they were just falling in my hands," Griner said. "Just the luck of the fall, I'll take them, though."

Cambage is coming off a game in which she had 23 points, seven rebounds and three blocked shots in Dallas' 89-83 road win against the Indiana Fever last Friday.

Cambage's Australian National Team teammate Cayla George, formerly of the Mercury, signed with Dallas a week ago.

"Cayla brings a versatile game to our roster, with the ability to play multiple positions on the floor," Wings President & CEO Greg Bibb said of the 6-foot-4 player. "She is an outstanding rebounder and a player who has the ability to extend her shooting range well outside the paint. We are excited to add her to our team."

Dallas guard Skylar Diggins-Smith had a career-high 35 points with 12 rebounds and six assists in the win at Indiana. Diggins-Smith vs. Phoenix's Diana Taurasi also figures to be an attractive matchup.

Taurasi turned 36 years old on Monday, a day after scoring 25 points in the win over Las Vegas.

                        • Sky return to play Storm after falling on hard times

The last time the Chicago Sky and Seattle Storm met, it turned out to be a turning point for both teams.

The Sky entered the May 25 matchup at KeyArena with a 2-1 record, and the Storm were 1-1 and trying to avoid dropping their first two home games of the season.

Early in the fourth quarter, the Sky led by 14 points. But the Storm rallied to force overtime and won 95-91 as Jewell Loyd scored 29 points and Breanna Stewart added 28.

The teams meet again Tuesday night in Seattle.

The Sky (3-5) have lost three of four since that night, including the first two on their current three-game trip.

"The Seattle game was pretty heartbreaking. It's difficult to lose a lead like that, then try to look back and see what we all could have done better," Sky rookie Gabby Williams, the No. 4 overall pick in the WNBA draft out of UConn, wrote on her "View from the Sky" diary on espnW. "It was one of those games where one play could change the whole momentum of the game."

The Storm (6-3) have won four of six since rallying against the Sky.

"They were absolutely marvelous in time and score situations," Storm coach Dan Hughes said of his players after that victory. "Their execution and playing to the right players were excellent."

Both teams are coming off cold-shooting games in losses Sunday.

The Sky suffered a 77-59 defeat at Los Angeles. Chicago shot just 28.4 percent from the field (21 of 74) and made only one of its first 21 3-point attempts.

Cheyenne Parker had 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead Chicago, the only Sky player with more than seven points. Williams, who had 26 points in a 96-79 loss Friday at Phoenix to open the trip, scored just two Sunday on 1-of-11 shooting.

"In college, the season opens in November and you can say, 'OK, by February, I'll have this down.' It's not like that here; we don't have the time," Williams wrote in her diary. "It's hard on your body, it's hard mentally and emotionally. It's straining."

The Storm opened a five-game homestand Sunday with a 67-64 loss to the Atlanta Dream, despite rallying from a 12-point deficit in the fourth quarter to take a late lead.

Seattle shot 33.8 percent (25 of 74) from the field and made a season-low four 3-pointers.

"We want to win at home, especially because it is still early in the season," said Stewart, who played a career-low 20 minutes because of foul trouble and scored just 12 points, well below her average of 20.4 that ranks fourth in the WNBA. "We will be back in the gym (Monday) and be ready for Tuesday."

                          • Sparks-Dream matchup could be defensive battle

After playing their worst game of the season on Thursday, the Los Angeles Sparks bounced back to beat the Chicago Sky on Sunday. The Sparks led wire to wire and held the Sky to 59 points, 18 below their season average.

Candace Parker credited the dominating win with being better prepared for Chicago after "we weren't in it" -- it being a 25-point loss to the Seattle Storm on Thursday.

During film sessions leading up to Sunday's game, "the focus was on us and what we do and how we do it. You can tell when we're aggressive in our mindset," she said, adding the blowout loss was plenty of motivation.

The Sparks will need that same kind of effort when they play the Atlanta Dream on Tuesday at Staples Center. The Dream (5-3) have won three straight and, as predicted in the preseason, are the league's most improved team.

Last year, Atlanta finished with a 12-22 record. This year, the Dream are far superior to last year's squad, especially on defense.

On Monday, Tiffany Hayes was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week.

Her 23 points per game topped all players in the East. She ranked ninth in field-goal percentage (55.8 percent) and sixth in free-throw percentage (88.9 percent). Hayes also averaged 4.0 rebounds and 3.3 assists.

In Sunday's win over the Storm in Seattle, Hayes scored eight of her 23 points in the fourth quarter and the Dream stepped up its defense after falling behind 61-60. The Storm were held scoreless for two minutes of the final 2:34.

Angel McCoughtry scored 15 points and now has 5,120 in her career as she nudged past Swin Cash for 15th on the WNBA points list.

Seattle was held to four 3-pointers and shot just 33.8 percent from the field.

"I thought it was a battle," Dream coach Nikki Collen said. "Coming into the game, I thought it was going to take a monumental defensive effort. Seattle has been so good from (behind) the arc and really sharing the basketball. Obviously, a big key was getting (Breanna) Stewart in foul trouble."

It's no coincidence the Dream are allowing only 77.3 points per game -- third lowest in the league.

"It's the game plan," Hayes explained. "We're being disciplined, doing what (coach) says, and everything is working. Everybody is communicating with each other so when somebody gets beat there's someone helping. Our team is always going to be a defensive team, so when we do that right, everything else falls into place."

Having already defeated Connecticut and Seattle, the top two offensive teams in the league, Atlanta faces another stiff test.

Parker is just rounding into form after minor offseason surgery. She looked like her old self on Sunday, with 24 points, six boards and three assists. Nneka Ogwumike added 16 points and Chelsea Gray 15.

Brian Agler's squad turned up the heat on defense as well. The Sky were held to 28.3 percent from the field, and even more devastating was Chicago's 3-point shooting.

The Sky hit only one of the first 21 attempts from beyond the arc. The Sparks set the tempo early, took the lead, and never relinquished their advantage.

"I liked our aggression, and when we're able to play like that we're able to keep moving and we're at our best," Parker said.

The loss to Seattle was the worst home loss in Agler's three years in Los Angeles.

"I thought Nneka and Candace were really, really effective, especially early when they played minutes, because they're so mobile and skilled," he said. "I think it all started right there."
