        • NBA roundup: Aldridge clutch, Spurs beat Thunder
          November 18, 2017

SAN ANTONIO -- LaMarcus Aldridge scored 26 points, the final two on a crucial basket in the last minute, as the San Antonio Spurs roared back from a ragged beginning to defeat the Oklahoma City Thunder 104-101 on Friday at the AT&T Center.

After trailing by as many as six points in the fourth quarter, Oklahoma City pulled to within 100-99 on a free throw by Paul George with 45 seconds to play. On the ensuing possession Aldridge scored on a putback of a missed 3-pointer by Danny Green to push San Antonio's lead to 102-99 before the Thunder's Carmelo Anthony canned a jumper with his right foot on the 3-point line with 5 seconds remaining to cut the lead to 102-101.

Pau Gasol then hit two free throws with 2 seconds to play and, after a time out, Oklahoma City's Russell Westbrook had to settle for a contested, wild shot at the buzzer that didn't even hit the rim.

          Cavaliers 118, Clippers 113, OT

CLEVELAND -- LeBron James scored 19 of his 39 points in the second half and overtime to lead Cleveland over Los Angeles.

Kevin Love added 25 points and Dwyane Wade scored 23 points with a season-high 11 rebounds for the Cavs, who didn't lead until overtime and trailed by as many as 15.

The Clippers have lost seven straight. Blake Griffin led them with 23 points but shot 8-for-25.

          Kings 86, Trail Blazers 82

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Willie Cauley-Stein set a season high with 22 points, the last one a free throw with 3.4 seconds remaining that lifted Sacramento over Portland.

Cauley-Stein, relegated to coming off the bench for the first time this season, scored 13 in the second half and had two key put-backs in the fourth quarter.

Sacramento won its third straight at home and snapped a three-game losing streak.

          Timberwolves 111, Mavericks 87

DALLAS -- Jimmy Butler scored 21 and Andrew Wiggins added 19 points to lead a balanced attack and Minnesota rallied from a 14-point deficit to rout Dallas.

NEW YORK -- Spencer Dinwiddie compiled a career-high 25 points and eight assists as Brooklyn beat Utah.

Dinwiddie made his third start of the season in place of D'Angelo Russell, who underwent arthroscopic knee surgery earlier in the day. With Russell watching the game on television from his Manhattan hospital room, Dinwiddie hit 9 of 14 shots, 6 of 10 3-pointers and grabbed five rebounds in 31 minutes.

Allen Crabbe added 18 points, DeMarre Carroll contributed 17 and Trevor Booker chipped in 14.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Victor Oladipo scored 21 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to help Indiana rally from a 22-point third-quarter deficit.

Indiana narrowed the deficit to 92-91 on Lance Stephenson's 3-pointer with 5:43 left. Domantas Sabonis hit two free throws to give the Pacers a 93-92 lead. After a basket by Stephenson, Tobias Harris sank a 3-pointer to tie it at 95.

            • Armadillo: Saturday's List of 13: Things I’m looking for this weekend…….

              13) Saints won their last seven games after an 0-2 start, only second time that has happened in the NFL (’93 Cowboys). Washington comes calling to the Superdome Sunday; they’ve won four of last five games against New Orleans.

              12) USC hasn’t had a week off this season, but they’ll have one next week, before the Pac-12 title game. Trojans beat UCLA 36-14/40-21 the last two years, figure to make it three in a row here.

              11) Huge trap game for the 6-3 Jaguars, who head to Cleveland after one of the Jaguars picked the Browns to finish 0-16 this season. Cleveland has couple of offensive linemen banged up, are unsure if they’ll play. Browns are not only 0-9, they’re 2-7 against the spread this year.

              10) Wake Forest allowed 1,321 yards the last two weeks, but they outscored Syracuse 40-5 in the second half LW, and now the Demon Deacons are bowl eligible. Wake plays NC State this week; they’ve lost three in a row to the WolfPack, allowing 36.7 ppg.

              9) Buccaneers-Dolphins play their re-scheduled game from Week 1; Tampa Bay is on the road for the next three weeks; they scored total of 28 points in their last three games. Dolphins are on a short week after their dismal performance in Charlotte.

              8) Arizona ran the ball for 310+ yards in five of their last six games; they’re 3-1 on road, scoring 47 ppg. 7-3 Wildcats are playing Oregon Saturday for the first time since 2014.

              7) How will Seattle’s defense be with Richard Sherman out for the season? 5-4 Falcons lost four of last six games (1-5 vs spread); they’re on road for fourth time in last five weeks.

              6) Miami Hurricanes have been getting slapped on back all week after whacking Notre Dame last week; now they’re a 19-point favorite over a Virginia team that lost three of its last four games, with all three losses by 17+ points. Hurricanes beat Virginia 27-21/34-14 the last two years.

              5) Eagles-Cowboys on Sunday Night Football should be interesting. Key point for me is how the Cowboys protect QB Prescott, who was sacked eight times in Atlanta? Philly had last week off; they went south after their bye last year, but that was in Week 4 after a 3-0 start.

              4) Wisconsin is unbeaten; their basketball team lost before the football team. Badgers covered four of last five games with Michigan, are already in Big 14 title game. Underdogs are 7-3 vs spread in last 10 Michigan-Wisconsin games; Wolverines lost last three visits to Madison.

              3) The Nathan Peterman era begins for the Bills in a 27,000-seat soccer stadium in Carson, CA, home of the Chargers. Buffalo doesn’t think Tyrod Taylor goes thru his progressions quickly enough, so Peterman gets the nod, a year to the day after Jared Goff made his NFL debut in the Coliseum for the Rams.

              2) Florida Atlantic scored 47.5 ppg in winning its last six games; underdogs are 7-1 vs spread in last eight FAU-FIU games. Is Lane Kiffin headed to another big time job? This is a rivalry game, with both teams having first-year coaches.

              1) Rams-Vikings pits pair of 7-2 teams against each other in a nice warm dome in Minneapolis. Wish the Vikings had a dome back in the 70’s, when the Rams use to regularly lose playoff games in the frozen climate of the Land of 10,000 Lakes.

                      • Irving, Celtics beat Hawks 110-99 for 15th straight victory
                        November 18, 2017

ATLANTA (AP) Kyrie Irving scored 30 points, Jaylen Brown added a career-high 27 and the Boston Celtics won their 15th straight game with a 110-99 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday night.

At 15-2, Boston leads the NBA and matched the best start in franchise history through 17 games. The winning streak is the club's fifth-longest, four behind the 2008-09 team that set the franchise mark.

Dennis Schroder had 23 points, and Kent Bazemore added 19 for Atlanta. The Hawks are an Eastern Conference-worst 3-13, but they still had plenty of adrenaline following a 46-point victory over Sacramento - the biggest in franchise history - two nights ago

The Celtics erased a 16-point deficit to take their first lead on Brown's 3-pointer midway through the third. It marked Boston's fourth win when trailing by at least 16 during the streak.

Irving, playing with a protective mask to protect a minor facial fracture, ended the game with a right-handed finger-roll layup, delighting a few thousand Boston fans who were chanting ''MVP! MVP!'' in the fourth quarter. In 31 minutes, Irving made 10 of 12 shots, including five 3-pointers, and hit all five of his free throws.

                        WARRIORS 124, 76ERS 116

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Stephen Curry scored 35 points, Kevin Durant had 27 and defending NBA champion Golden State overcame a 22-point halftime deficit to beat Philadelphia.

Joel Embiid scored 21 points and Ben Simmons had 23 points and 12 assists for Philadelphia. The 76ers led 47-28 after one quarter and 74-52 at the half.

But the Warriors erased that large deficit with a furious rally in the third quarter. Curry's 3-pointer got them within one point. He then made a pair of free throws to give Golden State a 90-89 lead.

The two-time NBA MVP hit another 3 and Draymond Green blew past a defender for a dunk to make it 99-89 going into the fourth.

                        ROCKETS 105, GRIZZLIES 83

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - James Harden scored 29 points, Clint Capela had 17 points and 13 rebounds and Houston beat Memphis.

Houston guard Chris Paul added 17 points and six assists in his second game since returning from a left knee injury. Paul and Harden combined for 10-of-19 shooting from beyond the arc, and the Rockets were 18 for 43 from 3-point range overall.

Memphis dropped its fourth consecutive game. Chandler Parsons led the Grizzlies with 17 points on 7-for-9 shooting, and Marc Gasol and JaMychal Green each scored 15 points.

                        JAZZ 125, MAGIC 85

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Rodney Hood scored 31 points, Derrick Favors had 25 points and 11 rebounds and Utah routed Orlando to snap a three-game losing streak.

The 40-point margin matched the Magic's worst home loss in team history.

Hood was 12 for 21 from the field in his highest-scoring game of the season. The reserve guard had 19 straight points for Utah over one stretch that went from the end of the third through early in the fourth.

Aaron Gordon had 18 points and nine rebounds for Orlando.

                        TRAIL BLAZERS 102, KINGS 90

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - C.J. McCollum scored 25 points, Damian Lillard had 22 and Portland handed Sacramento its ninth consecutive road loss.

McCollum hit four 3-pointers and shot 9 of 16 to help Portland avenge an 86-82 road loss to the Kings on Friday night. Lillard had six assists, the Blazers shot 54 percent (38 of 70) from the floor and made 10 of 21 3-pointers.

Willie Cauley-Stein had 18 points and nine rebounds to lead Sacramento, and Zach Randolph had 17.

                        MAVERICKS 111, BUCKS 79

DALLAS (AP) - Wesley Matthews scored a season-high 22 points and Dallas beat Milwaukee to stop a four-game slide.

Matthews also had eight assists while helping Dallas (3-14) to its first win since Nov. 7 at Washington. He went 6 for 8 from 3-point range.

J.J. Barea had 20 points for the Mavericks, and Harrison Barnes finished with 18. Giannis Antetokounmpo had 24 points and 17 rebounds for the Bucks. They had won four in a row.

                        HORNETS 102, CLIPPERS 87

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Kemba Walker had 26 points, Dwight Howard added 16 points and 16 rebounds and Charlotte snapped a six-game losing streak with the victory over struggling Los Angeles.

Walker, who was coming off a 47-point performance in a loss to the Chicago Bulls on Friday night, was 8 of 17 from the field and 6 of 9 from 3-point range despite a sprained wrist.

Jeremy Lamb added 17 points for Charlotte. Lou Williams had 25 points, and Blake Griffin added 19 for the Clippers. They have lost eight straight.
