        • NBA roundup: Curry nets 39 in Warriors' win
          November 19, 2017

NEW YORK -- Stephen Curry totaled 39 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists before fouling out as the Golden State Warriors held on for a 118-111 victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday night.

The defending NBA champions took the lead in the first quarter and survived a lull in the fourth quarter.

Less than 24 hours after rallying from a 24-point deficit in Philadelphia, the Warriors did not experience any similar problems in the first half Sunday. Golden State led for most of the final 42:08, held a 22-point lead at halftime and a 28-point edge early in the third before the Nets got close.

Curry shot 14 of 24 from the floor and hit four 3-pointers, guiding the offense in the absence of Kevin Durant, who sat out due to a sprained left ankle. Allen Crabbe scored 25 points and Spencer Dinwiddie added 21 for the Nets.

          Lakers 127, Nuggets 109

LOS ANGELES -- Lonzo Ball recorded the second triple-double of his rookie season, and Los Angeles rolled to a victory over Denver.

Ball finished with 11 points, 11 assists and 16 rebounds, though he hit just 5 of 13 shots from the floor. Julius Randle scored a season-high 24 points and Brook Lopez added 21 for the Lakers.

Gary Harris led the Nuggets with 20 points, while Wilson Chandler scored 17. Each team had seven players produce at least 10 points apiece.

          Raptors 100, Wizards 91

TORONTO -- DeMar DeRozan scored 33 points, grabbed eight rebounds and added six assists as Toronto defeated Washington.

The Raptors had a three-point lead entering the fourth quarter and built it to nine. When the Wizards moved to within five, Raptors reserve guard Fred VanVleet made a 3-pointer with 1:15 to play.

The Wizards were playing without guard John Wall, who has a swollen left knee. Bradley Beal paced Washington with 27 points.

          Pacers 120, Heat 95

MIAMI -- Bojan Bogdanovic scored 26 points and Myles Turner added 25 as Indiana ended its six-game losing streak at AmericanAirlines Arena with a win over Miami.

Indiana shot 60 percent from the floor for its easiest win of the season.

Turner, who made 11 of 14 shots from the field, added seven rebounds, four assists and three blocks. Indiana also got 15 points from shooting guard Victor Oladipo, who leads the Pacers in scoring on the season.

          Pistons 100, Timberwolves 97

MINNEAPOLIS -- Detroit rallied in the fourth quarter and then held on to beat Minnesota.

Andre Drummond had 20 points and 16 rebounds to lead Detroit, while Avery Bradley and Tobias Harris each added 18 points. The Pistons bounced back after dropping back-to-back games for the first time this season. The Timberwolves saw their three-game winning streak end.

Jimmy Butler had a team-high 26 points and 10 rebounds for Minnesota. Andrew Wiggins added 24 points, and Karl-Anthony Towns chipped in 16 points and nine rebounds for the Timberwolves.

          Suns 113, Bulls 105

PHOENIX -- TJ Warren scored nine of his 27 points in the fourth quarter, and the Phoenix bench contributed 50 points in the Suns' win over Chicago.

Devin Booker had 15 points and reserves Mike James and Troy Daniels combined for 29 as the Suns won their second straight and beat the Bulls for the third time in the past four tries.

Rookie Lauri Markkanen had career-high 26 points and added 13 rebounds for Chicago, which missed a chance to win back-to-back games for the first time this season.

          • NBA notebook: Durant misses game with OKC visit looming
            November 19, 2017

Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant missed Sunday night's game against the Brooklyn Nets with a sprained left ankle, the team announced.

Durant suffered the injury during Saturday night's 124-116 road win over the Philadelphia 76ers at the Wells Fargo Center. He scored 27 points on 11-of-20 shooting with five rebounds and two blocks in 33 minutes.

Durant is considered day-to-day and the injury is not believed to be serious. He is averaging 24.9 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.9 assists in 15 games this season.

The Warriors travel to Oklahoma City to play the Thunder on Wednesday night. The game would be Durant's second time playing in Oklahoma City against his former team since joining the Warriors last season.

--Washington Wizards guard John Wall missed Sunday's game against the Toronto Raptors with a swollen left knee.

There is a chance Wall could be ready to play Monday against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Wall is averaging 19.9 points and 9.3 assists per game.

--Philadelphia 76ers guard Markelle Fultz, the first overall pick in this year's NBA draft, will miss at least two more weeks with a shoulder injury, the team announced.

Fultz has played just four games this season, averaging 6.0 points, and has not played since an Oct. 23 game against Detroit because of the shoulder problem.

The 76ers stated the "soreness is dissipating and the muscle balance is improving." Fultz will be re-examined in two to three weeks to determine whether he is ready to return.

Game of the Night - Oklahoma City at New Orleans, (Fox Sports Oklahoma, 8:05 ET)

Anthony Davis caught an accidental head butt from Denver star Nikola Jokic in Friday's blowout loss and immediately left in the third quarter, but he got good news on Sunday when the was cleared after an examination, diagnosed with a contusion of the orbit bone above his right eye. The Pelicans (8-8 SU, 9-7 ATS) list him as probable for this one, so we'll get both teams at relatively full strength if wing defender Tony Allen is able to make it back from a knee issue.

New Orleans welcomed back Rajon Rondo last week and is still getting him acclimated, but comes in on a two-game losing streak after a 125-116 home loss to Toronto and a 146-114 loss at the Nuggets. This is an especially challenging week for New Orleans, who will play the Spurs on Wednesday before a Friday-Saturday back-to-back at Phoenix and Golden State. Despite DeMarcus Cousins joining Shaquille O'Neal and Moses Malone as the only players in NBA history to score 400 points and grab 200 rebounds over a season's first 15 games -- a feat that hadn't been accomplished since Shaq did it in 2000 -- the Pelicans open the week with just the seventh-best record in the conference, a half-game up on Oklahoma City (7-8 SU, 6-8-1 ATS) and slumping Memphis.

If you want to be optimistic about it, New Orleans hasn't had Rondo in play and needed to pick up Jameer Nelson just to give itself an extra playmaker alongside Jrue Holiday. The Pels have also lacked firepower on the wing, but are stuck with that predicament until Solomon Hill is able to return from a torn hamstring next month at the earliest.

Oklahoma City can identify with the slow start and getting a number of moving parts together, but certainly didn't anticipate being under .500 nearly one-fifth of the way in. The Thunder have shown signs of getting it together lately and would be coming into tonight's game above .500 if they hadn't blown a 23-point lead in San Antonio on Friday night, continuing a disturbing trend that has plagued new-look OKC over the first full month of action.

Russell Westbrook was the culprit, struggling to finish shots he typically makes in his sleep down the stretch. Paul George also missed multiple easy looks and failed to grab a key rebound on the defensive end in the 104-101 loss to the Spurs. Combined, Westbrook and George shot 10-for-38 and were brutal down the stretch. Carmelo Anthony scored a team-high 20 points but probably feels he didn't get the ball enough in the second half to keep the game from tightening back up in the first place. None said much to reporters about the brutal loss after the game, but among one another, need to continue to communicate and grow because that Friday night setback is the type that can linger if not addressed.

This is a big week for the Thunder, who welcome in Golden State on Wednesday, facing the team they envision facing as their primary playoff obstacle for the first time. Kevin Durant returning to Oklahoma City is always an event, but he enters the week questionable after missing Sunday's win in Brooklyn with a sprained left ankle.

It certainly feels like the Thunder are running into an ex with their hair messed up, as in they don't have their house in order just yet. They did at least got center Steven Adams back after a three-game absence due to a calf issue. Although OKC went 3-0 without him, it still missed his presence clogging up the paint and rebounding, so count on him being the x-factor against the NBA's most talented big-man tandem tonight.

Oklahoma City swept the season series between these teams 4-0 last season, but only one of those games was played after the Pelicans acquired Cousins. He and Davis combined for 69 points and 17 rebounds, but Cousins fouled out in just 22 minutes, dropping to 0-3 in his early stint in New Orleans. That game also saw Davis score 24 first-quarter points, so it will be interesting to see how the Thunder match up against him with the likes of Andre Roberson, George and Anthony all givng away tons of size. Expect constant double-teams, which will test whether the other Pelicans can take advantage, something that has largely eluded them thus far.

Rondo started for just the second time against Denver and played a season-long 25 minutes, scoring 13 points and adding six assists. Alvin Gentry will play him and Holiday in tandem, which is Plan A for making sure that both bigs remain angry and efficient. Rondo's presence on the floor puts pressure on Holiday and Dante Cunningham to step up as shooters, and they went a combined 2-for-8 from 3-point range in Denver on Friday. Rondo joined Davis and Cousins on the floor during the key stretches where the Nuggets pulled away and caught a minus-30 in plus-minus, so there should be genuine concern that playing his way into shape is likely to cost New Orleans a few games. It's obviously a short sample size, but New Orleans is 0-2 SU/ATS with their new starting point guard out there and have seen both games soar over the posted total. Opponents have averaged 135.5 points.

                        Injury Concerns

Washington missed John Wall in yesterday's 100-91 road loss in Toronto, running out of gas in the second half without its point guard. The team called his absence precautionary, giving him a Sunday off due to left knee soreness, but head coach Scott Brooks told the Washington Post that he was unsure if he'd play in Monday's visit to Milwaukee, though said "it's a great chance" he'll play if the swelling he said hindered his effort in a Friday night home loss to Miami subsides. It sounds like the Wizards just didn't want him to play three games in four nights, so he's got a good shot at being out there barring any setbacks.

Forward Otto Porter was nursing a swollen hand and Markieff Morris caught a knee to the face in Toronto, so there certainly should be concern that the Wizards won't have the juice to prevent what would be their first three-game losing streak of the season. The loss north of the border kicked off a stretch that sees Washington play 10 of 12 on the road between now and Dec. 12.

Cleveland announced late last week that point guard Derrick Rose needs a few weeks to heal an ankle injury and is still at least a month away from getting Isaiah Thomas in the mix, so being forced to give Iman Shumpert the week off to heal from knee pain of his own isn't ideal. While Dwyane Wade is likely to get more minutes after playing 37 in Friday's 118-113 OT win over the Clippers, veteran Jose Calderon will likely start tonight's visit to Detroit.

The Cavs have won a season-best four straight games (2-2 ATS) but are also without forward Tristan Thompson until mid-December, so expect vets LeBron James, Kevin Love and Wade to play major minutes. Fortunately, there are no back-to-backs scheduled for this group until next week.

The Clippers have dropped eight straight entering Monday's game at the Knicks and matched a season-low 87 points in Saturday night's loss in Charlotte. They should get some relief with point guard Patrick Beverley hoping to return from a 5-game absence due to a knee injury. L.A. hasn't won without him and is 5-5 with him in the mix. New York lists shooting guard Tim Hardaway, Jr. as questionable with a sore foot and injured his elbow on Friday. He's scored 26 or more points in three of this last five games.

Portland visits Memphis and won't have to deal with point guard Mike Conley, who has been shelved indefinitely as he tries to keep an Achilles issue from becoming a season-altering problem. Forward Brandan Wright (groin) and guard Tyreke Evans (shoulder) each left a 105-83 Saturday night loss to Houston, so the Grizzlies will certainly be significantly short-handed since they've already ruled Wright out. Evans is expected to be a game-time call.

                        Head-to-Head Trends

Since 2014, even before LeBron returned via free agency, the Cavs began a three-game winning streak against the Pistons that is part of 13-6 SU run in this Central Division series. That also includes a 4-0 sweep in the 2016 playoffs first round, spoiling Stan Van Gundy's only postseason appearance with Detroit. The teams split last year's season series, both SU and ATS, with the Pistons winning each of the final two meetings in Auburn Hills. They've since moved back downtown, so this will be James' first regular-season visit to Little Caesar's Arena, which makes you wonder if he'll have a special performance in store in order to christen it. The Pistons served as his first real obstacle in this league, bringing out both the best and the worst in him, so the thoughtful star always packs something extra for them. Detroit will be facing the Cavs coming off an upset win in Minnesota and is 3-0 (2-0-1 ATS) on the second night of a back-to-back, owning wins at New York, Golden State and home against Sacramento.

Orlando head coach Frank Vogel went 0-4 SU and ATS against the Pacers and former assistant Nate McMillan last season. The Magic have a long history of struggling against Indiana, owning just one win in the last 12 meetings since the final matchup of the 2013-14 season, when Vogel was on the opposite sideline. Last year's games weren't even close, as the Pacers won each by double-digits and owned an average margin of victory of 14.3 points per game. With former Magic draft pick Victor Oladipo now in Indy and returning to Central Florida for the first time in that uniform, things could get spicy. Domantas Sabonis, who the Magic drafted and also shipped out, has been sharp in his sophomore NBA season. Indiana beat Miami 120-95 on Sunday to match a season-high three-game winning streak. It is 1-3 (2-2 ATS) on the second night of back-to-backs, winning in Cleveland.

Philadelphia star Joel Embiid and Rookie of the Year lock Ben Simmons fell short of an upset of Golden State on Saturday, blowing a 24-point lead, so it will be fun to see how they bounce back against visiting Utah. The 76ers snapped a nine-game losing streak at the hands of the Jazz on Nov. 7 despite Embiid's absence and Rudy Gobert's 16 points and 15 boards. It was Philly's first win in Utah since 2005. The Stifle Tower is now out with a knee injury until mid-December, while Embiid averaged 33 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 blocks last week in his first extended action where he's consistently played over 30 minutes.

The Celtics look for a 16th straight win as the team with the NBA's top record (15-2) visits Dallas (3-14), which posts the league's worst. The Mavericks owned the C's until last season, winning 11 of 12 meetings between 2010-16, dropping only a double-OT game in Boston back in 2012. The Mavs were swept by Boston last season for the first time since '08 and are a 7-point home dog tonight as they look for consecutive wins for the first time in '17-'18.

                          • Irving scores 47, Celtics beat Mavs for 16th straight win
                            November 20, 2017

DALLAS (AP) Kyrie Irving scored 10 of his season-high 47 points in overtime as the Boston Celtics rallied once again from a double-digit deficit to beat the Dallas Mavericks 110-102 on Monday night and extend their winning streak to 16 games.

The Mavericks led by as many as 13 points in the fourth quarter, but as they have several times during their winning streak, the Celtics stormed back.

The winning streak ties the fourth-longest in Celtics history.

Boston tied the game at 96 when Irving stole the ball from Dirk Nowitzki and fed Jayson Tatum for an alley-oop layup that hung on the rim for a full second before dropping through.

Irving scored his team's first six points of overtime. Then after Jaylen Brown gave Boston a 104-102 lead with a jumper with 1:39 to play, Irving went to work on Yogi Ferrell, backing him down and drawing contact on a lay-up with 48.5 seconds to play. Though Irving missed the free throw to keep the score 106-102, Dallas never got closer.

                            CAVALIERS 116, PISTONS 88

DETROIT (AP) - LeBron James scored 16 of his 18 points in the first quarter, and Cleveland made 11 3-pointers in the first half in its rout of Detroit.

Cleveland led 73-46 at halftime thanks to an overwhelming shooting performance, an indication that Detroit's stay atop the Central Division might not last much longer. The Pistons still lead the Cavs by a game, but Cleveland has won five straight and scored at least 110 points in eight of its last nine.

The Cavaliers led 27-22 when James went to the bench late in the first quarter. By the time he came back in, it was 50-30. Cleveland's reserves ended up outscoring Detroit's 26-8 in the first half.

The Cavs shot 62 percent from the field in the first two quarters and 11 of 17 from 3-point range. They finished the game 16 of 33 from beyond the arc. Cleveland led 101-62 after three, and the top players for both teams had plenty of time to rest in the final period.

                            PELICANS 114, THUNDER 107

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Anthony Davis had 36 points and 15 rebounds, and New Orleans rallied after DeMarcus Cousins' ejection to beat Oklahoma City.

Cousins had 18 points and nine rebounds before he was called for a flagrant foul on Russell Westbrook with five minutes remaining in the third quarter.

Cousins raised his elbows near Westbrook's face after grabbing a rebound, and the Thunder guard dropped to the floor holding his head. Westbrook remained in the game and finished with 22 points, 16 rebounds, 12 assists and three steals. However, Westbrook also missed 13 of 19 shots.

New Orleans trailed 76-72 when Cousins was ejected but surged ahead soon after with an 11-3 run during which Jameer Nelson, E'Twaun Moore and Darius Miller each hit 3s, with Nelson's banking in from near half-court as the shot clock expired.

Jrue Holiday scored 18 points for New Orleans, which snapped a two-game skid.

                            SPURS 96, HAWKS 85

SAN ANTONIO (AP) - LaMarcus Aldridge had 22 points and 11 rebounds, and San Antonio held off Atlanta.

Atlanta lost its 20th straight game in San Antonio, a skid spanning 20 years.

Manu Ginobili had 16 points and Danny Green had 14 for the Spurs, who have won four of five. Kyle Anderson added 13 points, 10 assists and six rebounds in his 17th start in place of injured All-Star Kawhi Leonard.

Aldridge powered the Spurs past the pesky Hawks, scoring 12 points with six rebounds in the fourth quarter.

Aldridge saved the ball from going out of bounds after blocking Kent Bazemore's shot and then raced downcourt for a driving, one-handed dunk that gave San Antonio a 78-71 lead with nine minutes remaining.

Green hit consecutive 3-pointers to stretch the lead to 90-79 with 3 minutes remaining.

                            76ERS 107, JAZZ 86

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Ben Simmons scored 27 points, a fired-up Joel Embiid added 15 points and 10 rebounds despite a sore knee, and Philadelphia beat cold-shooting Utah.

Embiid skipped the morning shootaround because of pain his surgically-repaired left knee. But he posted his seventh double-double and got under Utah's skin in the fourth quarter.

After swatting away rookie Donovan Mitchell's layup, Embiid turned and said something to the fallen Mitchell, who got up and shoved Embiid to the floor. Mitchell drew a technical foul.

Embiid got up and motioned to the fans, who started to chant ''MVP'' and ''Trust the Process,'' the team's mantra during a lengthy rebuild. Embiid got a standing ovation as he exited with 1:50 left in Philadelphia's second win in five games.

Mitchell scored 17 points on 6 of 19 shooting, Rodney Hood added 13 while making 5 of 17 shots, and the Jazz shot 35.3 percent from the field in losing for the eighth time in 10 games.

                            WIZARDS 99, BUCKS 88

MILWAUKEE (AP) - Bradley Beal scored 23 points to lead Washington over Milwaukee.

Beal helped the Wizards separate from the Bucks with a personal 7-0 run late in the third quarter. Washington then outscored Milwaukee 13-4 to start the fourth, building an 86-70 advantage.

The win snapped a two-game skid for the Wizards, who were playing on back-to-back days for the first time this season.

Milwaukee has lost two consecutive games to fall back to .500 at 8-8 after rattling off a four-game winning streak following the trade for Eric Bledsoe.

Kelly Oubre Jr. added 18 points off the bench for the Wizards, and John Wall scored 15 after missing a game with knee pain. Otto Porter Jr. had 12 points and 11 rebounds, and Marcin Gortat finished with 10 points with 15 rebounds.

Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Bucks with 23 points but was 8 for 21 from the field.

                            KNICKS 107, CLIPPERS 85

NEW YORK (AP) - Kristaps Porzingis scored 25 points and New York extended Los Angeles' losing streak to nine games.

Porzingis outplayed a frustrated Blake Griffin and helped the Knicks snap a 10-game skid in the series with their first victory over the Clippers in five years.

Doug McDermott added 16 points for the Knicks, including a 3-pointer that swung the momentum for good midway through the third quarter.

Griffin scored 21 points but shot just 6 for 17, picked up a technical foul and fouled out with 4:46 remaining. The Clippers (5-11) still haven't won since Nov. 1 at Dallas, when they improved to 5-2.

Patrick Beverley returned after missing five games with a sore right knee and had nine points and six rebounds. But the Clippers are still without fellow guard Milos Teodosic and the rest of their backcourt play was mostly dismal.

                            PACERS 105, MAGIC 97

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Victor Oladipo had 29 points, nine rebounds and seven steals to lead Indiana past Orlando, the Pacers' fourth straight win.

Oladipo, who played his first three NBA seasons in Orlando, and Bojan Bogdanovic combined for 40 points in the second half, 14 of them during a 16-3 third-quarter run that put the Pacers in command.

Bogdanovic scored 24 of his 26 points in the second half.

Nikola Vucevic had 25 points and 13 rebounds for the Magic, who lost their fifth straight. Aaron Gordon had 13 points and 12 rebounds.

The Magic finished with 22 turnovers and shot 33 percent in the second half to fall below .500 for the first time this season.

                            HORNETS 118, TIMBERWOLVES 102

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Dwight Howard had 25 points and 20 rebounds, and Charlotte beat Minnesota.

Howard, acquired in an offseason trade from Atlanta, was 8 for 10 from the field and 9 of 14 at the foul line, where he has struggled all season. He outplayed Timberwolves big man Karl-Anthony Towns, who had 18 points and 12 rebounds as Minnesota lost on back-to-back nights.

Howard, the NBA's active leader in 20-20 games with 49, became the first Hornets player to accomplish the feat since Al Jefferson in 2013.

Frank Kaminsky provided a huge spark off the bench, scoring nine of his 24 points in the fourth quarter. He shot 9 of 15 overall, including 4 of 5 from beyond the arc.

In an effort to come back from a double-digit deficit in the fourth quarter, the Timberwolves repeatedly sent Howard to the foul line. He responded by shooting 6 of 10 to help seal the win.

                            TRAIL BLAZERS 100, GRIZZLIES 92

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - C. J. McCollum scored 24 points and Damian Lillard added 21 points as Portland sent Memphis to its fifth straight loss.

Shabazz Napier added 16 points, while Noah Vonleh finished with 11 points and 18 rebounds for Portland, which won its second straight and fourth in the last five.

Mario Chalmers led Memphis with 21 points, while Tyreke Evans finished with 20. Marc Gasol had 19 points and 12 rebounds, but was 7 of 20 from the floor, part of the Grizzlies shooting 38 percent for the game, and 27 percent from outside the arc.

The teams were tied at 80 with 6:47 left after Gasol split a pair of free throws. But Jusuf Nurkic, who had 10 points, converted a 3-point play and put the Trail Blazers ahead for good.

Portland controlled the boards 60-35, including 15 on the offensive glass.
