The point is rodgers did it on the road, 3 times. Ben was at home. Neither qb looked great yesterday but when you level the playing field on a neutral turf, I think rodgers will light up that very suspect steelers secondary. The ravens and jets are running teams and that played in to pittsburghs strength. Green bay is not and won't!

Polu did nothing yesterday and they won pk. Pittsburgh has a ton of others too like harrison and ike taylor. The defenses are very similiar imo and I think you are greatly underestimating the impact matthews has had. It was much greater than polu and anything he did this year!

Pack has no running game, and NO ONE on the team has won a SB RING. This shouldn't be overlooked. Their going into the biggest game of their lives, in front of 100,000 live and countless millions watching, its a whole diff world. Rodgers hasn't seen a D like the Steelers, and if he doesn't carry them, they have absolutly no chance in life of even being in this game, let alone winning it.
If you bet the Pack (and I hope alot of you do) you're betting Rodgers vs the entire Steelers organization.
This is the easiest ML wager I've seen in a long, long time. This Steelers team is put together to win Super Bowls, that's what they do. This will be their 3rd in 6 years, this is uncharted water for the Pack, and they are likely to drowned in it.
The Pack beat a one trick pony in Philly, nobody in ATL, and a pure smoke and mirror Chi team with a guy playing QB that they picked out of the stands @ 1/2 time. Stop drinking the Kool-Aid

What does this mean? That game ended up 9-0, right? Are you saying the Jets D shut them out, or Rodgers had a good game? Sanchez actually had more passing yards, I believe. I read this post a few times and I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. By the numbers as least, the Steelers have a better D, so if they couldn't really score on the Jets, shouldn't they be afraid of a better D? Its true that the Jets were shut out that game, but what does that have to do with Rodgers?
Sorry, I'm just trying to follow what point you're trying to make.

IMO
I think that GB is favored and rightly so, the spread is small and who really cares who is the favorite and who is the dog anyways. These two teams definitely deserve to be in this game and I think it will be an awesome superbowl.
I would have preferred to play Chicago, I think the the Steelers are a better match up versus the bears than the Pack. I wanted the Jets, I think we matched up better against them then we do versus the Pats. I think match ups are very big in these games and I am very concerned about playing the Pack on turf and indoors where the conditions are ripe for Rodgers and his WR's. The Steelers no doubt have the best run D in the league but their pass D is about 12th I believe, this is a huge match up problem for the Steelers. I think that the Pack can use the pass to set up the run. While I dont think they will run for a ton, I think in certain situations they will be able to burn the Steelers for big chunks when they catch the Steelers thinking pass and they bust a big run.
I am also concerned about the O line for Pitt, it hasnt been a strength all year and as of now who knows about the center and if he will be 100 % when the game starts. Two things about Big Ben, he gets sacked a lot because his O line isnt the best, and he gets sacked a lot because he holds the ball FOREVER. Now in his defense, holding the ball for as long as he does opens up some really big plays, but it also opens the oppurtunity for more sacks and a possible fumble. I am very concerned with the Packers pass rush, they are good and very fast and will pressure the shit out of Ben.
Those are some of my concerns about the Pack, they are damn good but there is a reason they have basically been in an elimination game for like the last 6 games. They obviously are not the 85 Bears or the Steelers of the 70's, they did lose to Detroit and only scored 9 versus the Jets.
The Pack will face a D that is much different than any D they see in the NFC, they will also face a very experienced team that wont quit or give up. DE Smith coming back for the Steelers is much needed, and I suspect Troy P might have a big game. The Steelers are going to hit you in the mouth, and then they are going to line up and do it again and again and again.
If Rodgers stays upright and gets enough time it probably will be a long day for the Steelers, if I were a betting man who's not a fan of the Steelers I would understand backing the Pack and laying the small number. But I am a fan(bandwagon from what I am told), and it is hard to bet against Big Ben in a big game.
BOL to whomever you get on, I just hope that it is a good game and the Refs dont influence the outcome so I dont have to hear the whining that will follow.
I started this with IMO, and I am ending with this is just my opinion, I am not an expert on anything other than beating my meat.Questions, comments, complaints:

The location of hte game is HUGE imo. This game being on a perfect field in perfect weather (indoors) is a big advantage for GB. Pitt and Ben seem to thrive in bad conditions.
I've seen Aaron Smith being brought up, total non factor in my opinion. He hasn't played a snap in three months and Tomlin already said Ziggy starts even if Smith is back. Depth never hurts, but there is no chance Smith will be in game shape, he's just been out too long. Also the last I read he is still very questionable to be back in time. That said, Ziggy has made a name for himself with little no drop off.
Nobody seems to be talking about a potentially devastating injury to the Steelers. Pouncey has a high ankle sprain and while he is saying he will be ready, EVERY player says that the day after the injury. Obviosuly depends on the severity of the sprain, but it is apparently a high ankle sprain and those are very difficult to come back in two weeks. If he is out that already banged up and weak offensive line is in even more trouble.
I think Pitt is going to need a couple of those 9 minute TD drives to keep Rodgers off the field to win this game.
One other observation that I haven't heard much talk about. Rodgers played very well in the first half against the Bears. He then got the absolute shit knocked out of him on the helmet to helmet hit and he pretty much stunk after that. I think he might have been a little shaken up (possibly another mild concussion). Just speculating, but his drop in play seemed to coincide with the hit.Last edited by harold_bush; 01-24-2011, 05:29 PM.
