AP – Four Barclays Capital specialists consult monitors on the trading on the floor of the New York Stock … NEW YORK – A case of post-election nerves has sent stocks plunging as investors, again anxious about a recession, are wondering what impact a Barack Obama presidency will have on business and the overall economy. Volatility has returned on Wall Street, with the Dow Jones industrials falling 486 points to the 9,139 level, and all the major indexes tumbling more than 5 percent.

The market was expected to give back some gains after a six-day runup that lifted the Standard & Poor's 500 index more than 18 percent. But investors lost some of their confidence about the economy and began dumping stocks again; light volume helped exaggerate the price swings, and there was more late-day selling by hedge funds.

Analysts said the market is also growing anxious about whom Obama selects as the next Treasury Secretary, as well as whom he picks for other Cabinet positions.

Not this year but because Bush stole the election from them in 2004.............. Libs in protest around Wash DC kept the stickers on their cars, I still see Gore/ Lieberman bumper stickers on these nuts cars.

You said "wait till you see the stock market tomorrow" hinting that it would explode on the election result. You were WRONG. But you were wrong because of Bush right??

                    • Jobless report comes out Friday. Could be a terrible day for the market. Taxes will have to be raised and spending programs slashed to get anywhere close to a balanced budget in the next 8 years.

Semi-educated guess says the bottom comes in spring 2009 with the Dow hitting 7200.

More of a gut call than fundamentals.

                      • Even Michael Savage(no relation lol), who has expressed grave reservations about Obama, unlike some folks on this thread, has the common sense and decency to say that he should at least be given a chance to prove himself before he is criticized.

Not from the guy who ran his campaign on "I will give 95% of American workers a TAX CUT"

he hasnt even had 1 day in office and he starts out his victory speech by telling all those who voted for him "We may not get there in one year, one term" ** "I can't tell you what we're going to do yet."

HE SHOULD START HIS FIRST DAY BEFORE HE TRY'S TO RUN FOR A SECOND TERM

I don't really care for him either but do listen on occasion.
I don't think he bashes bith sides to make money;I do believe he believes what he says.
However, that being said, I do think he suffers from paranoia and believe because of this condition, he does not really enjoy his life.
In addition, he knocks all professional sports implying they are a waste of time.
I used him as an example only to point out that even as screwed up as a lot of think his views are, he thinks that no one should criticize Obama right away.
