Was Bush given the same respect? I dont remember, all I remember was that he stole the election or something like that.

Republicans will give Obama a chance, but if he fucks up we should be there to call him on his bullshit promises. His poetry plans sound good and got him elected, I am skeptical on his promises and think he will "change" once he is in.

That seems fair.
I don't give blind faith to ANYONE, and if he blows it or I see things I don't like, I will offer criticism. Talk is cheap, and he must deliver. Believe me when I tell you that at this point I think he has a lot to prove, and I would be happier if he didn't have those past associations in his resume.
I don't really recall much about how muich respect Bush was given at the outset becasue there was so much controversy surrounding whether he really won or not.

he hasnt even had 1 day in office and he starts out his victory speech by telling all those who voted for him "We may not get there in one year, one term" ** "I can't tell you what we're going to do yet."

It can work by increasing the tax on the top 10% of the wealthiest people in this Country, but in order to do that they must close all of the loopholes in the tax system which will have to get passed through the house and senate.

I know its a stretch, but if the folks who Obama appoints to his Cabinet and other positions are anywhere near as competent as those who ran his campaign, it could augur well.
Like a masterful winning jockey guiding his horse wire to wire from the starting line to the finish line, Obama's strategists did a great job ensuring victory not only in the states he was supposed to win but in the swing states and even in states like Virginia, Indiana and North Carolina, which tradtionally have gone Republican.
Of course, having a "few" bucks in the bank didn't hurt their cause either.
