Past Associations are past associations and just that. I did things years ago that I wouldn't do today-so what.
If you want to infer that Obama's friends are terrorists, then go ahead;I read and saw an interesting video that made a case Bush conspired in 9/11.You can believe what you want.
I will give plenty of credit to McCain for serving his country and accepting torture-that doesn't mean he is the best candidate for the Presidency.
Elections are about perception and who can best serve the needs of ALL the people, not just the rich.
Vote for who you want, and let the better man win.
ps If McCain pulls the miracle of all time, I will support him, as anything is an improvement over the miserable self-serving and lying POS incumbent.

If I am not mistaken, he voted in favor of Bush's policies 90% of the time.
That however is not the only reason I am not voting for him.
Look-the economy and the country is in a rather big mess now.
If things were great, the war was over, our troops were home, uunemployment was good, the stock market hadn't crashed, etc., McCain would win the election in a breeze no matter who he chose for a running mate.
There is no guarantee that Obama will get us out of this mess and even be a good President-the same could be said for McCain.
Look we all gamble here, and when we self-handicap, we make our picks based on the stats, trends and general perception as to who will cover in a given game.
Different folks can look at the same sets of stats. for the same game and pick opposite sides.
The same thing holds here-based on my overall perception, for my money Obama offers the best chance to turn things around overall.
Some agree with me, some don't and some are ambivalent-thats why they have elections.

I would rather have someone who is smart but who also listens but doesn't necessarily agree with other points of view than someone who thinks he knows everything and isn't interested in anyone else's opinion.
You don't graudate from Harvard Magna Cum Laude unless you are smart as defined by the dictionary.

Great Judgment Obama-how about even "greater" judgement picking Palin, who has now become a drag on the ticket by just about ever poll in the country.
I guess McCain miscalculated by thinking by just choosing a relatively attractive and energetic woman with some experience, he could lure away the Hillary supporters and win the election-better luck next time McCain;at this point the American public isn't as dumb as you think(at least not in the Blue states lol).

People had concerns about George Bush's past also because at one time he was an alcoholic but they voted for him assuming correctly that he was no longer one.
In all honesty, any rational person including me would have preferred that Obama hadn't had these assocations in the past.
But one has to weigh all of the evidence, and my overall feeling is that while those PAST associations are not a feather in his cap, I feel that those are behind him and that he genuinely wants to serve as President and help the country.
I respect others such as yourself who put a lot more emphasis on those associations, and obviously if he gets elected, we both hope that his motives and actions will be for the country as a whole and not for any ulterior reasons.
I simply hope that if Obama gets elected, that folks and especially the Limbaughs and Hannitys of the world will at least give him a couple of months of free reign to see what he can do before criticizing and/or attacking once again.

If he tries to start implementing social experiments and runaway spending he will be a failure. I will give him the respect any US President deserves as long as he puts America first. If Obama wants 8 years he will stay in the middle, he moves too far left, look for Sarah Palin in the future.

She is a real reformer and Washington outsider, people hate government (look at congress's rating).

If she runs on SMALLER government and reform spending, she can easily win in the future. The fact that she is hot doesn't hurt either
