2. A comprehensive national energy policy to get us closer to energy independence. Promote the development of alternate energy to ween us away from foreign oil dependency.
3. Affordable Health care for all citizens like the rest of the developed world, and not just for those who can afford it.
4. More tax relief to the middle class and lower income levels. Basically ensuring that the middle class is thriving. This includes tax cuts to small businesses and companies that provide jobs for our citizens. Current and Right Wing ideology is that you ensure that the upperclass and large companies are given tax cuts in the 'hope' that it trickles down to the poor. It never does and hasn't since Bush has been in office.
5. Comprehensive immigration reform. It's simple. You can't just boot illegal immigrants out of this country. They are a viable workforce and support the economy by spending their money they make while working for the lowest wages on the income ladder. The reason why the food we eat is affordable, is because there is a workforce of immigrants who are willing to work for low wages in some of the most grueling work environments. The immigration issue has been exploited by politicians to divide the country and has only worsen the problem.
6. An active plan to secure social security and provide for seniors over the age of 65 who were the backbone of this country and are now being left behind esp. by the current administration.
7. Much more support for our school system and the teachers who work for them than the current administration. Rebuilding aging schools and give teachers better pay and more support in exchange for more accountability, including making college more affordable.
8. And last but not least in my opinion, Obama CHOSE a viable Vice Presidential running mate, who has experience in foreign policy and governmental issues and not a running mate who was reputed by several respected Conservatives, including; David Brooks NY Times, Peggy Noonan former Bush advisor, and Christopher Buckley of the National Review, as being inexperienced and and lacking the education needed as a potential president, making a mockery of the GOP ticket. McCain's choice makes you wonder about his sound judgment in leading the country and his decision making capabilities.
