Rape almost never ends in pregnancy, please read this and educate yourself.

        Rape Pregnancies Are Rare

        By John C. Willke, M.D.
Source: Life Issues Connector, April 1999, Reprinted with permission

First, let's define the term "rape." When pro-lifers speak of rape pregnancies, we should commonly use the phrase "forcible rape" or "assault rape," for that specifies what we're talking about. Rape can also be statutory. Depending upon your state law, statutory rape can be consensual, but we're not addressing that here.

A relatively new category is "date rape." For some reason this is supposed to be different, but, forcible rape is rape, regardless of whether it occurs on a date or behind the bushes. If a college woman is raped on a date, she should undergo a medical examination and treatment, just as she would in the aftermath of an assault rape. It is not a separate category.

Assault rape pregnancies are extremely rare. Most pro-lifers have heard this comment, but too often cannot back it up with facts. A candidate for office in the State of Arkansas made this comment before the last elections. He was roundly criticized and ridiculed by the opposing candidate and the media. Unfortunately, there was no evidence that he offered substantive proof to back up his claim that rape pregnancies were rare.

How many forcible rapes result in a pregnancy? The numbers claimed have ranged the entire spectrum of possibilities. Some feminists have claimed as high as 5 to 10 percent, which is absurd. One problem has been the lack of available studies and accurate statistics. Often women do not admit to having been raped. On the other hand, it has been known that women, pregnant from consensual intercourse, have later claimed rape. Is it possible to know the actual facts?

There have been some studies. In the statistical abstract of the US in 1989, there were 90,000 rapes reported in the United States. (Bureau of Census Table #283)

Another study was from the U.S. Justice Department, which surveyed 49,000 households annually between the years 1973-1987. In 1973, it reported 95,934 completed rapes. In 1987, the figure was 82,505. The study stated that only 53% were reported to police. Factoring this in, the totals were 181,000 rapes in 1973 and 155,000 in 1987. In August 1995, the US Justice Department, using a different study with different questions, returned a result of 170,000 completed rapes plus 140,000 attempted rapes.

There are approximately 100,000,000 females old enough to be at risk for rape in the United States. If we calculate on the basis of 100,000 rapes, that means that one woman in 1,000 is raped each year. If we calculate on the basis of 200,000 rapes, that means that one woman in 500 is raped each year.

Now for the important question. How many rape pregnancies are there? The answer is that, according to statistical reporting, there are no more than one or two pregnancies resultant from every 1,000 forcible rapes.

But, does it make sense? Let's look, using the figure of 200,000 rapes each year.

Of the 200,000 women who were forcibly raped, one-third were either too old or too young to get pregnant. That leaves 133,000 at risk for pregnancy.
A woman is capable of being fertilized only 3 days (perhaps 5) out of a 30-day month. Multiply our figure of 133,000 by three tenths. Three days out of 30 is one out of ten, divide 133 by ten and we have 13,300 women remaining. If we use five days out of 30 it is one out of six. Divide one hundred and thirty three thousand by six and we have 22,166 remaining.
One-fourth of all women in the United States of childbearing age have been sterilized, so the remaining three-fourths come out to 10,000 (or 15,000).
Only half of assailants penetrate her body and/or deposit sperm in her vagina,1 so let's cut the remaining figures in half. This gives us numbers of 5,000 (or 7,500).
Fifteen percent of men are sterile, that drops that figure to 4,250 (or 6,375).
Fifteen percent of non-surgically sterilized women are naturally sterile. That reduces the number to 3,600 (or 5,400).
Another fifteen percent are on the pill and/or already pregnant. That reduces the number to 3,070 (or 4,600).
Now factor in the fact that it takes 5-10 months for the average couple to achieve a pregnancy. Use the smaller figure of 5 months to be conservative and divide the avove figures by 5. The number drops to 600 (or 920).
In an average population, the miscarriage rate is about 15 percent. In this case we have incredible emotional trauma. Her body is upset. Even if she conceives, the miscarriage rate will be higher than in a more normal pregnancy. If 20 percent of raped women miscarry, the figure drops to 450 (or 740).
Finally, factor in what is certainly one of the most important reasons why a rape victim rarely gets pregnant, and that's physical trauma. Every woman is aware that stress and emotional factors can alter her menstrual cycle. To get and stay pregnant a woman's body must produce a very sophisticated mix of hormones. Hormone production is controlled by a part of the brain that is easily influenced by emotions. There's no greater emotional trauma that can be experienced by a woman than an assault rape. This can radically upset her possibility of ovulation, fertilization, implantation and even nurturing of a pregnancy. So what further percentage reduction in pregnancy will this cause? No one knows, but this factor certainly cuts this last figure by at least 50 percent and probably more. If we use the 50 percent figure, we have a final figure of 225 (or 370) women pregnant each year. These numbers closely match the 200 that have been documented in clinical studies.

So assault rape pregnancy is extremely rare. If we use the figure of 200, it is 4 per state per year. Even if we use a figure of 500, we're talking about only ten per state, per year. In the United States in one year, there are more than 6 million pregnancies. Roughly 3 million eventuate in live birth, 1.5 million are aborted and 500,000 miscarry. And so while each assault rape pregnancy is a tragedy for the mother (not for the baby, though), we can with confidence say that such pregnancies amount to a minuscule fraction of the total annual pregnancies in the United States. Further, less than half of assault rape pregnancies are aborted, even though that course of action tends to be vigorously pushed by those around the woman. 2,3

One final thought, Sandra Mahkorn, in two excellent studies, has asked such women what was their chief complaint? One might fully assume it was the fact that she was pregnant, but that is incorrect. Her chief complaint was how other people treated her. Such treatment ranged from negative, to simply getting little support from those around her. Even in a culture that offers little support and aggressively pushes abortion as a solution, fewer that half of such babies are killed by abortion. Think of how many fewer yet there would be if each pregnant victim of a rape were given the support, aid and tender loving care that she and her baby deserve.

Our goal is to offer truly compassionate care to the woman. That is what is best for both mother and child.

        • Here's my question. Why not argue actual issues? As someone who was undecided as of 2 weeks ago, it's the mortgage issues that you talked about and the small business issues that interested me in John McCain. But everytime I talked to someone about it, we got about 2 sentences in and then they just shout "Muslim!" "Communist!" "Anti-American!". "How could anyone consider the other guy?!?".

Sometimes I feel like I'm trying to have a political conversation with someone that has Tourette's. I'm a level-headed person, but if I didn't know better then I would think that the Democratic Party actually sends guys like Dimer onto the message boards to convince people like me to vote Democrat. It's the weirdest thing I've ever seen.

If we talked about the issues, everyone would realize that McCain voted 90% like Bush, he tried hard to separate himself from Bush, but nobody's believing him. So it's been attack mode since day one. Just watch a McCain rally, all he says is "My friends, my opponent does this and my opponent does that"

                • Barack Obama and his nemesis, Obama author Andy Martin, face off in Honolulu

Martin’s Hawai’i investigaiton causes Obama to panic and suspend his presidential campaign to head off Andy’s stories.

NOTE: Today’s scheduled column has been preempted because of the suspension of the Obama campaign. “Obama and Islam, Again” will appear next Monday. (Part Two of the Hawai’i series will appear as scheduled on Tuesday the 21st. Our calendar was thrown off schedule by the birth certificate litigation.)

Chicago crusader Andy Martin is on the verge of taking down the Obama campaign

(HONOLULU, HI)(October 20, 2008) You have to turn to Hollywood and “High Noon” to find more drama than the confrontation building in Hawai’i. The good sheriff stands alone against the Obama Gang. Eliot Ness and the Untouchables? The Long Ranger? Pick your own hero. Martin vs. Obama explodes into a Hollywood classic.

I will do my best to defeat Obama even though I essentially stand alone. I stand tall. All of the protagonists are from Chicago. Despite ridicule and envy from Chicago’s corrupt mainstream media, I have spent over forty years successfully fighting crooked politicians like Barack Obama and his Daley Machine cronies.

But take a look at one of the most dramatic time lines in recent political history.

Two weeks ago on October 5th Sean Hannity aired a program that terrified the Obama campaign. You can probably see my role at FoxNews.com or on YouTube. The New York Times itself reported that the morning after Hannity’s program, I became the target of a massive liberal assault at the Times. On October 6th I wrote a column predicting that Hannity’s show would become the most important political program of 2008. On direct orders from the Emperor Obama, the New York Times then unleashed its smear machine on me.

One week ago, on October 13th, the Times tried to destroy me with a front-page package of lies, distortions and outright fraud. The Times failed. My investigative team arrived in Hawai’i and began to dig, dig, dig.

I also predicted in a column that attacking me was the first big mistake Obama and the Times had committed. You be the judge of whether I am being proven correct.

I am still standing and the Times’ credibility is going into the toilet.

Before my team left for Hawai’i I predicted we would bring down Obama. By sheer coincidence, one TV network was interested in my mission and has been tagging along with a camera crew.

Monday (today) we petitioned the Hawai’i Supreme Court to order Obama’s secret birth records released.

How did Obama respond? He suddenly discovered that his grandmother, who had supposedly been released from her hospital a week ago, when he showed no interest in her, needed his immediate attention. Cool, calm, collected Obama suddenly suspended his campaign and headed for Hawai’i.

                  High Noon.

I have been issuing reports from Hawaii and we are on the streets digging for the truth. This weekend we issued our story list for Monday-Wednesday (Monday has been rescheduled—see above).

What has Obama done? Cancelled his campaign and announced he is jumping on a plane to join Andy Martin in Hawai’i. Welcome home, Barry (Obama’s grandmother calls him “Barry.”)

                  High Noon in Hawaii.

Barack Obama vs. Andy Martin. The drama builds as we move closer and closer to disclosing the dramatic truth about Barack Obama.

Was I right when I predicted Obama made a classic mistake when he attacked me? Will Jim Rutenberg and all of the other Times slimeballs regret their malicious attacks? You betcha.

Obama did not pay any attention to his grandmother until I showed up in Honolulu. Suddenly she is the center of his attention. She is so central to his campaign that he has suspended it! But when Obama was here last summer he only visited his grandmother for an hour. One hour! Now he suspends his campaign for her?

Could anyone have predicted a more dramatic series of developing events? Hannity puts me on the air as the Chicago expert who confirms the links between Obama and his longstanding anti-American, terror network. Obama’s goon squads immediately try to smear me in retaliation. The New York Times creates a front-page story out of 25 and 35 year-old nonsense in a desperate attempt to discredit and derail my upcoming Hawai’i investigation.

And Andy Martin’s investigative team lands in Honolulu and goes where no mainstream media have gone before, on the streets of Honolulu to dig out the secret truths about Barack Obama.

Hawai’i Five-O looks tame by comparison.

I am still standing, fighting, and investigating, right here in Obamaland. And Hannity’s dramatic show on October 5th will prove to be the turning point in the fight to retake America from the Obamabots and their crooked clandestine campaign cash (Without Andy, Hannity’s second show on October 19th was dull by comparison and provoked no response from the Times or Obama).

The day we landed in Honolulu was Obama’s D-Day. He can’t scare us. He can’t stop us. He can’t intimidate us and the New York Times can’t smear us with lies, half-truths and distortions.

The irony in all of this television drama is that Fox News is not the network following me around Hawaii. I will leave it to the network to disclose which one it is.

Barack Obama is looking increasingly like a desperate, doomed candidate whose Big Lie is about to be exposed.

The New York Times tried to suggest I exaggerate. Do I exaggerate? Apparently Barack Obama doesn’t think so. He knows what I know. And soon you will know what Obama and I know.

What Obama fears most is that I search for the truth not because I am associated with McCain (I am not) or because I am a partisan Republican (I am not a right-winger). Rather I search for the truth for the sake of the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. I took an oath as an 18 year old to defend the Constitution of the United States from its enemies.

Barack Obama is an enemy of the Constitution. He is using tens of millions of dollars in clandestine campaign cash from unknown sources to stage an electoral coup d’etat in our nation. That is why I keep fighting for the truth.

Barack Obama has been lying to the American people. And his Big Lie is about to be exposed.

Now that his secrets are on the verge of being revealed he has panicked and suspended his campaign to visit Hawai’i. Do you believe Obama’s explanation for the sudden trip?

                  Or do you believe me?

Do you believe the smear merchants at the New York Times? Or my truthful words on Sean Hannity’s America?

If Barack Obama is defeated, he will have two people to blame: me and Sean Hannity.

                  • ctt,

McCain is pro-business, Obama wants to tax business one creates jobs the other kills them.

The mortgage issue with Fannia and Freddie were under the watch of Demacrats Barney Frank and Dodd? They of course pass the buck and guess who gets screwed, the American people. This all came about because these government backed institutuions pushed to get everyone into a house of which many could not afford. Many loans were approved which never should have and Franklin Raines made off with some 70-80 million in bonuses for pumping the loan numbers. He is out and now on Obamas policy team.

What kills me is how in the hell can anyone trust the government to run healthcare after this banking debacle. If Obama is elected this is what he wants.....more control over peoples lives and more government power.

The out of control spending is from both sides, but rest assured Republicans will not grow the government anywhere near the amount Democrats will.

McCains best strength is his promise to control spending and veto any pork spending bills. He is very much unlike Bush and was a thorn in Bushes side all 8 years. He routinely fought his own party because he stands on principle.

I think Obama will stick his finger in the air and bend to which ever way the polls say he should go.

In order to "turn this around", it is up to us......not government!!!! Keep government the hell out of the way. Most anything they get their hands on turns to shit.

The few people I know personally that say they are voting for Obama fall into two main categories:

                                1. They want "hope and change"
                                2. They aren't happy with Bush and would have voted for anyone of the opposite party.

Anyway, if you don't mind, please answer my question logically and not emotionally. I don't need to agree with your positions, and I don't want a debate or anything, I just want someone to actually point out specifics reasonable thoughts as to why they support him. Thanks.

                                Anyone care to tackle this?
                                O..H.........I..O!
