      STREAKING AND SLUMPING STARTERS

      STREAKING

Marco Gonzales, Seattle Mariners (8-6, 4.38 ERA, $243):
It’s a bit of a sorry day for streakers, considering we’ve already highlighted Scherzer. That said, good for Marco. He has bounced back from a terrible stretch by pitching to a 2.33 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP over his last three starts. He’ll look to keep it going tonight, but will be in tough against a solid Brewers lineup. The Mariners are currently +155 road dogs with a total of 10.5.

      SLUMPING

Blake Snell, Tampa Bay Rays (4-6, 4.40 ERA, $737):
This one seems so weird. Snell just hasn’t looked like the guy who captured the AL Cy Young, so far this season. He is coming off one of the worsts starts of his career, allowing six runs on two hits and four walks in just 0.1 innings of work at Yankee Stadium.

Over his last four starts, Snell has an unthinkably high 10.29 ERA and a 2.14 WHIP. Snell will try to bounce back tonight, but will have to do so on the road, against one of baseball best offenses in the Twins. Tonight’s game is essentially a Pick’em with a total of 9.5.

      3 STRIKES

      TWIN CITY SHUFFLE

The Minnesota Twins open a brief three-game home stand with the Tampa Bay Ray Tuesday, which means Under bettors are licking their chops. The Twins have one of the strangest Over/Under splits in the major leagues, posting a 24-13-1 O/U mark on the road but a 15-20-2 clip at home. Minnesota’s offensive production drops from 6.35 runs per contest on the road to 5.03 inside Target Field.

And, with the club recently running against that road Over trend – going 1-3 O/U at Kanas City last week – the total for the series opener with the Rays is ticking down. Books opened Game 1 with a 9.5-run number but that’s been bet down to nine runs as of Tuesday morning. Starter Kyle Gibson, who gets the nod versus Blake Snell, has performed much better at home with a 3.62 ERA and 2-4 Over/Under count in his six starts at Target Field this season.

      OVER DRIVE

Could it be lineups getting more intel on pitchers or perhaps the summer heat injecting balls with a little life? Whatever the cause, MLB Overs have been the hot play the past week. Heading into Tuesday’s slate, MLB games have gone 51-39-4 Over/Under since June 18 – a near 57 percent winning clip for fans of high-scoring baseball. For the month, Overs are paying out at almost 54 percent.

The biggest culprits pushing this Over trend: the Seattle Mariners and Atlanta Braves. The M’s enter Tuesday with a 17-4-1 Over/Under count in June while the Braves boast a 16-6 O/U record this month, but have played Under in four of their last five outings facing totals between 9.5 and 12 runs. Atlanta has an 11.5-run total set for today’s trip to Wrigley while Seattle is pegged with a 10-run number at Milwaukee.

      RED LIGHT, GREEN LIGHT

The Cincinnati Reds are the major-league equivalent to WWE wresting legend, the Ultimate Warrior, who was notorious for his energy-packed entrances which would often leave him gassed for the match itself.

The Reds have a tendency to start with Warrior-like frenzy, sitting tied for tops in the bigs in runs scored in the first inning – averaging 0.83 in the opening frame. During its recent four-game road trip to Milwaukee, Cincinnati plated nine total first-inning runs. However, that production falls off a cliff for the remainder of the game, with the Red averaging only 4.39 runs per game on the season.

Tuesday’s foe, the L.A. Angels have one of the best first-inning defenses in the majors. The Halos give up only 0.42 runs in the first inning of games (second lowest) and starter Andrew Heaney hasn’t allowed a single run in the opening inning through his five starts in 2019, striking out six and limiting opposing hitters to a .118 BA in that window. The “No Runs Scored” prop for the first inning is priced at -105.

      • Yankees hit 4 homers to extend streak, beat Blue Jays 4-3
        June 26, 2019
        By The Associated Press

NEW YORK (AP) DJ LeMahieu and Aaron Judge hit back-to-back homers to begin the bottom of the first inning, giving the Yankees a major league-record 28 straight games with a long ball, and New York held off the Toronto Blue Jays 4-3 Tuesday night.

Gleyber Torres and Edwin Encarnacion each poked a solo shot over the short right field porch for the Yankees, who shook off another injury to Giancarlo Stanton and won for the 10th time in 11 games. The AL East leaders are 8-1 on a 10-game homestand that wraps up Wednesday.

Aroldis Chapman allowed a run in the ninth before retiring Freddy Galvis on an easy grounder with two aboard for his 23rd save in 25 tries.

Stanton exited in the fourth with a bruised right knee and was scheduled for an MRI. He got tangled up with Toronto pitcher Clayton Richard (0-4) in the first while getting thrown out on a headfirst slide into third base.

Yankees rookie Nestor Cortes Jr. (3-0) pitched 4 1/3 solid innings in relief of opener Chad Green.

RED SOX 6, WHITE SOX 3

BOSTON (AP) - Xander Bogaerts hit a two-run homer and David Price struck out nine, leading the Red Sox to the victory.

The start of the game was delayed 24 minutes because of rain, which continued to fall - heavily at times - through the first five innings. The slick conditions may have contributed to a frightening moment in the fifth inning when Chicago shortstop Tim Anderson sprained his right ankle on a fielding play. Anderson was carried off the field on the shoulders of manager Rick Renteria and a trainer.

Price (5-2) worked through the conditions for six innings, permitting three runs and eight hits. Brandon Workman pitched the ninth for his third save.

Jose Ruiz (0-1) took the loss after allowing Bogaerts' two-run shot in the fifth, breaking a 3-all tie.

        PHILLIES 7, METS 5

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Maikel Franco hit a go-ahead two-run homer for the second straight game, powering the Phillies to the victory.

Brad Miller, Scott Kingery and Rhys Hoskins also connected as Philadelphia earned its second straight win since losing seven in a row.

Franco hit a shot to right off Wilmer Font (1-2) for his 18th homer, lifting the Phillies to a 6-5 lead in the sixth inning. Miller made it back-to-back shots when he went deep for a pinch-hit homer.

Philadelphia right-hander Jake Arrieta (7-6) permitted five runs and nine hits in six innings. Hector Neris got four outs for his 16th save.

Jeff McNeil had four hits for New York. Amed Rosario and Dominic Smith homered.

        NATIONALS 6, MARLINS 1

MIAMI (AP) - Max Scherzer struck out 10 in eight innings and won his fifth straight start to lead Washington.

The three-time Cy Young Award winner also had two hits and scored twice.

Scherzer (7-5) is 5-0 with a 0.92 ERA over his last seven starts and has fanned exactly 10 in three straight games. He allowed five hits and one run while throwing 71 of 94 pitches for strikes.

Trea Turner hit a three-run homer and Juan Soto knocked in two runs for the Nationals, who have won six of eight.

Miami had its four-game winning streak end, and manager Don Mattingly and shortstop Miguel Rojas were ejected in the eighth by plate umpire Mike Estabrook for arguing. Rojas struck out earlier in the inning.

Trevor Richards (3-8) allowed a season-high six runs in five innings.

        PADRES 8, ORIOLES 3

BALTIMORE (AP) - Manny Machado marked his return to Camden Yards with a performance reminiscent of his time with the Orioles, hitting a long homer and driving in two runs to lead San Diego.

Machado played seven years with the Orioles before being traded last July, months before becoming a free agent. The third baseman signed a 10-year, $300 million contract with the Padres in February.

Machado received a standing ovation from many in the crowd of 21,644 before striking out in the first inning. In the third, however, he hit a shot off Jimmy Yacabonis (1-2) that traveled an estimated 455 feet and added a run-scoring single in the fourth.

Manuel Margot homered and drove in three runs, and Fernando Tatis Jr. and Francisco Mejia also went deep for the Padres.

Rookie Logan Allen (2-0) allowed two runs and eight hits over six innings.

Richie Martin homered and Hanser Alberto matched his career high with four hits for the Orioles, who lost for the 12th time in 13 games.

        BRAVES 3, CUBS 2

CHICAGO (AP) - Ozzie Albies and Ronald Acuna Jr. homered, Max Fried pitched six innings of two-hit ball and Atlanta beat Chicago.

Acuna crushed the first pitch of the game from Cubs rookie Adbert Alzolay into the left-field bleachers for his 19th homer of the season. Albies hit a towering two-run shot to right center off Mike Montgomery (1-2) in the seventh that gave Atlanta the lead.

Fried (9-3) struck out eight, walked a season-high five and allowed two runs in winning his second straight start.

Relievers Sean Newcomb, Anthony Swarzak and Luke Jackson, who threw a perfect ninth for his 12th save, combined to complete the four-hitter.

Willson Contreras had two RBIs and fellow Venezuelan Alzolay tossed one-hit, one-run ball through 4 2/3 innings in his first major league start.

        ROYALS 8, INDIANS 6

CLEVELAND (AP) - Hunter Dozier's grand slam capped Kansas City's stunning five-run rally in the ninth inning off Cleveland closer Brad Hand.

Hand (4-3) was a perfect 22 for 22 in save chances. But the left-hander did not record an out against the Royals, who entered the ninth down 6-3 before storming back.

Nicky Lopez had an RBI infield single before Kansas City loaded the bases and Dozier connected on Hand's first pitch for his first career grand slam and 13th homer.

Kevin McCarthy (2-1) pitched the eighth and stumbled into a win, and Ian Kennedy worked the ninth for his 10th save.

Tyler Naquin hit a two-run homer and Carlos Santana, Roberto Perez and Mike Freeman had solo shots for the Indians.

        RANGERS 5, TIGERS 3

DETROIT (AP) - Jesse Chavez pitched into the seventh inning in his longest outing in over two years, and Texas beat Detroit.

Detroit has lost 18 of its last 20 home games, and that does not include a game last month that was suspended with the Tigers trailing.

Chavez (3-2) allowed an unearned run and five hits in 6 1/3 innings, striking out seven with no walks. It was his longest outing since he went seven innings on June 16, 2017.

Ronald Guzman homered for Texas, and Ronny Rodriguez went deep in the ninth inning for Detroit.

Jordan Zimmermann (0-5) allowed three runs in five innings. Detroit has lost five straight and nine of 10.

The Rangers were without Asdrubal Cabrera, who was starting a three-game suspension for hitting an umpire with equipment.

        ASTROS 5, PIRATES 1

HOUSTON (AP) - Yuli Gurriel and Alex Bregman homered to back up a solid start by Gerrit Cole in his first meeting against his former team, and Houston beat Pittsburgh.

Cole (7-5) yielded seven hits and one run in six innings against the team which drafted him first overall in 2011 and where he spent five seasons before a trade to Houston before last season. Cole struck out three and walked two as he won his third straight decision.

Bregman got things going in the fourth with a double off Trevor Williams before Gurriel launched a fastball into the seats in left field with two outs in the inning to make it 2-0.

An RBI single by Melky Cabrera got the Pirates within 1 in the sixth before Bregman opened the bottom of the inning with his 22nd home run to make it 3-1.

Williams (2-2) allowed eight hits and four runs in 6 2/3 innings.

        TWINS 9, RAYS 4

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Eddie Rosario had four hits, Willians Astudillo added three hits and Minnesota extended Blake Snell's troubles.

Jonathan Schoop and C.J. Cron hit solo homers for Minnesota, which got to Snell (4-7) for seven runs and 11 hits in just 3 1/3 innings.

Kyle Gibson (8-4) allowed four runs and seven hits in seven innings as the Twins won for the third time in four games.

The Twins scored three runs in each of the third and fourth innings to chase Snell, with Rosario tallying an RBI single in each.

Snell has won once in his last nine starts. In five starts in June, the the reigning American League Cy Young winner has a 12.11 ERA and has given up six or more runs three times.

        MARINERS 8, BREWERS 3

MILWAUKEE (AP) - Daniel Vogelbach hit a two-run homer to lift Seattle past Milwaukee for the Mariners' first interleague win in five tries this season.

Marco Gonzales (9-6) pitched five innings to earn his fourth consecutive win for the Mariners, who are playing at Miller Park for the first time since 2010. Four Mariners' relievers shut out the Brewers over the final four innings.

After the Brewers got a run in the first, the Mariners scored four times in the third off Milwaukee starter Zach Davies (7-2). J.P. Crawford drove in a run with a triple and Domingo Santana plated another with a double off the glove of Milwaukee shortstop Orlando Arcia. Vogelbach capped it with his 19th homer, a two-run, 419-foot shot into the second deck in right.

Seattle added two more runs in the fourth, aided by shoddy fielding by the Brewers.

Yasmani Grandal hit a solo homer and Jesus Aguilar had a run-scoring single for Milwaukee in the fifth off Gonzales, who gave up eight hits and three runs.

        ATHLETICS 7, CARDINALS 3

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Chad Pinder and Marcus Semien homered in a six-run fifth inning, and Oakland rallied to beat St. Louis.

Matt Olson also went deep to help the Athletics win for the sixth time in eight games.

Tha A's, who had totaled nine runs over their last three games, overcame a 3-1 deficit with the big fifth inning to knock out Cardinals starter Jack FLaherty (4-5).

Flaherty gave up a season-high seven runs and nine hits and a walk in 4 2/3 innings. He gave up three homers to raise his total to nine allowed in five June starts. Overall, Flaherty has given up 18 homers in 16 starts this season.

J.B. Wendelken (1-1) picked up his first MLB victory after spending time with Oakland in parts of three seasons. He got the final two outs of the fourth inning and was lifted for a pinch-hitter in the bottom of the fifth.

            • LEADING OFF: Ohtani works off mound, Keuchel makes 2nd start
              June 25, 2019
              By The Associated Press

A look at what's happening around the majors today:

              GETTIN' LOOSE

Angels two-way star Shohei Ohtani will throw off a mound for the first time since Tommy John surgery.

Ohtani had surgery Oct. 1 at the conclusion of his AL Rookie of the Year season. He returned to the Los Angeles lineup as a designated hitter May 7, posting nine homers and 30 RBIs already this season with an .834 OPS.

The Angels repeatedly have said Ohtani won't pitch in games until 2020, but his recovery appears to be progressing well.

Ohtani went 4-2 with a 3.31 ERA and 63 strikeouts in 10 starts as a rookie. He also hit 22 homers and drove in 61 runs with a .925 OPS.

              STEP IT UP

Dallas Keuchel makes his second start since signing a one-year, $13 million contract with Atlanta earlier this month. The former AL Cy Young Award winner lost in his Braves debut, laboring through five innings in a loss at Washington.

Keuchel will face Yu Darvish (2-3, 4.75) in Chicago. Darvish has no-decisions in his last 10 starts and has yet to win at Wrigley Field as a Cub.

              CHECK HIM

Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton will see how he's feeling, a day after bruising his right knee when he got tangled up with Toronto pitcher Clayton Richard while getting thrown out on a headfirst slide into third base.

The 2017 NL MVP just returned last Tuesday from injuries to his biceps, shoulder and calf that had sidelined him since March 31.

              ROYAL RETURN

Kansas City left-hander Eric Skoglund's rejoins the roster after the end of his 80-game suspension for testing positive for banned performance-enhancing drugs.

Skoglund was in the mix to make the Royals' rotation before the penalty. He's made three minor league rehab starts, and reports to the club in Cleveland.

              REPEAT AFTER ME

Miami rookie Zac Gallen faces Trea Turner, Juan Soto and the Nationals at Marlins Park.

The 23-year-old righty made his major league debut last week and pitched five impressive innings at St. Louis, allowing one earned run and five hits while striking out six.

Kyle Hendricks is one of many starters in the majors who pitches like an ace at home and should be faded on the road.

Pitchers generally throw better at home; they're more familiar with the mound and the dimensions of the stadium, and let's face it, they're also just creatures of habit. For some starters the difference between how they perform at home and away is absolutely massive. Knowing which pitchers heat up at home and combust on the road can give you an extra edge when betting MLB odds.

Here are the starters that you should consider betting on at home and are "must fades" on the road this year. We focused on pitchers who have ERA numbers below 3.00 at home, with an ERA more than two and half runs higher on the road. Listed in order of best ERA at home.

                        Kyle Hendricks, Chicago Cubs

                        Home: 4-1, 1.65 ERA, 0.88 WHIP, .215 BAA
                        Away: 3-4, 5.49 ERA, 1.47 WHIP, .290 BAA

The "Professor" takes batters to school at Wrigley Field with the second-lowest home ERA among all starters in the majors.

                        Caleb Smith, Miami Marlins

                        Home: 3-1, 1.84 ERA, 0.89 WHIP, .176 BAA
                        Away: 0-3, 4.66 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, .215 BAA

Smith's WHIP and BAA numbers on the road are actually pretty good, but that ERA isn't going to get him many wins especially on a Miami squad that's dead-last in the majors in runs per game.

                        Wade Miley, Houston Astros

                        Home: 4-1, 1.91 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, .207 BAA
                        Away: 2-3, 4.94 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, .254 BAA

Miley strikes out 9.1 batters per nine innings at home, compared to just 6.6 strikeouts per nine innings on the road.

                        Kenta Maeda, Los Angeles Dodgers

                        Home: 5-1, 2.05 ERA, 0.84 WHIP, .167 BAA
                        Road: 2-3, 5.67 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, .253 BAA

Oddly enough, Maeda's best road start of the year was at Coors Field back on April 5, when he allowed just one run through five innings.

                        James Paxton, New York Yankees

                        Home: 2-2, 2.10 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, .185 BAA
                        Away: 3-1, 5.96 ERA, 1.71 WHIP, .314 BAA

Yankees Stadium is generally considered one of the most home run-friendly parks in baseball, but that hasn't affected Paxton who has allowed just one homer in 34 1-3 innings at home.

                        Pablo Lopez, Miami Marlins

                        Home: 3-1, 2.13 ERA, 0.85 WHIP, .193 BAA
                        Away: 2-4, 6.82 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, .278 BAA

Lopez has allowed only one home run over 42 1-3 innings at home, while giving up seven homers in 34 1-3 innings on the road.
                        Patrick Corbin, Washington Nationals

                        Home: 4-1, 2.17 ERA, 0.88 WHIP, .181 BAA
                        Away: 2-4, 5.91 ERA, 1.57 WHIP, .279 BAA

Coming over from Arizona and hitter-friendly Chase Field, Corbin has been loving his new digs in Washington.

                        Steven Matz, New York Mets

                        Home: 3-0, 2.25 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, .228
                        Away: 2-5, 7.07 ERA, 1.74 WHIP, .306

Matz is tied for eighth among all MLB pitchers in home runs allowed with 18. 15 of those dingers have come on the road.

                        CC Sabathia, New York Yankees

                        Home: 4-1, 2.31 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, .214 BAA
                        Away: 1-3, 6.30 ERA, 1.63 WHIP, .306 BAA

This season might be an aberration for the 38-year-old, between 2016 and 2018 Sabathia had a lower ERA and BAA on the road than he did at home.

                        Domingo German, New York Yankees

                        Home: 4-1, 2.37 ERA, 1.12 WHIP .204 BAA
                        Away: 5-1, 4.99 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, .229 BAA

German has a much higher ERA on the road but as his other stats show he's still pretty good away from Yankee Stadium. He isn't someone I would necessarily bet against on the road.

                        Miles Mikolas, St. Louis Cardinals

                        Home: 4-4, 2.48 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, .223 BAA
                        Away: 1-4, 7.76 ERA, 1.76 WHIP, .346 BAA

Out of all the players on this list, Mikolas is the worst across the board in every away category and his BAA jumps a whopping .123 on the road.

                        Jack Flaherty, St. Louis Cardinals

                        Home: 3-2, 2.49 ERA, 0.83 WHIP, .185 BAA
                        Away: 1-2, 6.68 ERA, 1.67 WHIP, .288 BAA

Flaherty's home WHIP is the best on this list and the fourth-best in the majors among starting pitchers.

                        Adam Wainwright, St. Louis Cardinals

                        Home: 4-1, 2.68 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, .242 BAA
                        Away: 1-5, 6.56 ERA, 1.51 WHIP, .288 BAA

The third straight Cardinals pitcher on this list, suffice to say bettors should be wary of backing the Cards on the road.

                        Eric Lauer, San Diego Padres

                        Home: 3-3, 2.70 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, .244 BAA
                        Away: 2-4, 6.49 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, .293 BAA

Lauer's pitching stats on the road might be a bit skewed by two games at Coors Field where he was rocked for 13 runs in fewer than six innings of work. Take those two starts away and his road ERA is a more respectable 3.72.

                        Adrian Sampson, Texas Rangers

                        Home: 5-2, 2.86 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, .270 BAA
                        Away: 1-2, 6.92 ERA, 1.69 WHIP, .324 BAA

Sampson is 5-1 with a 1.70 ERA over his last seven home starts.

Hottest team: Yankees (9-1 last 10)

New York continues to roll on its current homestand prior to embarking on a long road trip. The Yankees seek the sweep of the Blue Jays this afternoon before traveling to London for a pair of games with the rival Red Sox on Saturday and Sunday. Since losing the first two games of its series at Chicago in mid-June, the Bronx Bombers have lost once in the past 10 contests, while sweeping Tampa Bay and taking three of four from Houston.

The Yankees edged the Jays last night, 4-3 as they failed to cash the run-line as a heavy favorite when Toronto scored one run in the ninth inning. James Paxton takes the mound this afternoon in the Bronx as the southpaw has won his last two starts against the White Sox and Astros, while allowing three runs in 11 innings of work. The last time Paxton faced Toronto (who he no-hit last season with the Mariners) on June 5, the Blue Jays managed an 11-7 win over the Yankees to cash as +180 underdogs.

Coldest team: Orioles (1-12 last 13)

It seems like this category is reserved for Baltimore, but no other team in baseball is close to slumping like the O’s. Following Tuesday’s 8-3 setback to San Diego in Manny Machado’s return to Camden Yards, the Orioles dropped to 4-18 this month. Baltimore’s pitching staff has yielded at least eight runs in five of the past seven games, while falling to 2-5 in interleague play this season.

The Orioles last won at home on June 11 against Toronto as Dylan Bundy will try to end Baltimore’s woes tonight. Bundy is 0-3 in his past three starts, while the Orioles have lost seven of his eight outings at Camden Yards this season. The Padres own a solid 4-1 record in Game 2’s of a road series after winning the opener, as the Orioles will try to buck that trend this evening.

Hottest pitcher: Mike Minor, Rangers (7-4, 2.52 ERA)

Minor has been one of the most impressive pitchers in the American League this season for the surging Rangers, who held off the Tigers in the opener of their series in Detroit on Tuesday. The Texas southpaw is undefeated in his last four starts, while tossing a gem against Cleveland his last time out by allowing three hits and one run in eight innings of a 4-2 home victory. Minor has put together a solid 3.03 ERA away from Arlington this season, as the Rangers have won four of his past six road starts.

Coldest pitcher: Nick Pivetta, Phillies (4-2, 5.54 ERA)

Earlier this month, Pivetta put together two of the best starts in his career by tossing six scoreless innings against the Dodgers and posting a complete-game victory over the Reds. But the Phillies’ right-hander has gone backwards lately by yielding 15 hits and 10 runs in his past two outings on the road at Atlanta and Washington. The good news for Pivetta is he is pitching at Citizens Bank Park tonight, where the Phillies have won five of his six home starts. And the other piece of good news is he faces the Mets, who not only the Phillies have beaten twice in this series, but Pivetta held New York to three runs in a 14-3 blowout on April 16.

Biggest OVER run: Mariners (13-2-1 last 16)

Seattle may be sitting in last place of the AL West following a surprising start, but the Mariners’ bats have woken up recently. The M’s crushed the Brewers in the opener of their interleague set at Miller Park last night, 8-3 to barely cash the OVER of 10 ½. Seattle has won five of its past six games, while scoring at least eight runs in four of those victories. Although there have been a few bumps in the road pitching-wise during this OVER streak, the Mariners have allowed three runs or less in four of the last six contests, while improving to 4-2 in the past six series openers.

Biggest UNDER run: Braves (5-1 last six)

Atlanta rebounded from an 8-3 loss at Wrigley Field on Monday to edge Chicago last night, 3-2. The Braves’ offense has cooled off since a nine-game stretch in which they scored at least five runs, as Atlanta has plated four runs or fewer in four of the last five contests. Granted, Atlanta has hit the UNDER in the five of the last six games, but some of those totals are abnormally high. The first two games of this series in Chicago have seen totals hit 12, while the final game of the Washington series last weekend closed at 10 ½. Dallas Keuchel makes his second start as a Brave after giving up four runs in five innings of his Atlanta debut at Washington last week in a 4-3 setback.

Matchup to watch: Rays vs. Twins

Since dropping a 14-3 decision at Tropicana Field in late May, Minnesota has had its way with Tampa Bay by capturing the last four matchups. The Twins’ offense hasn’t struggled in these wins either by putting up 5, 6, 9, and 9 runs in these victories, including knocking around 2018 Cy Young winner Blake Snell in a 9-4 triumph at Target Field last night. Minnesota’s lineup was held to five runs or fewer in six of its previous seven games before busting out on Tuesday, while improving to 25-13 at home.

Former Rays’ right-hander Jake Odorizzi takes the mound against his old team in tonight’s affair in Minneapolis. Odorizzi never won more than 11 games in a season during his five-year tenure with Tampa Bay, but he has already racked up 10 victories in 2019, including six at home. Odorizzi went through an eight-start stretch in which he gave up one run or fewer before allowing four runs in each of his past two outings against Kansas City. The Twins’ hurler didn’t yield a run in six innings at Tampa Bay earlier this month as Minnesota held on for a 9-7 win after the Twins built a 7-0 lead.

Charlie Morton counters for Tampa Bay, as the right-hander has won 37 of his past 48 decisions since 2017. Morton was set for a no-decision in his last start at Oakland as the Rays and Athletics were tied at 1-1 headed to the ninth inning. Tampa Bay put up three runs in the top of the ninth before Oakland rallied for four runs in the bottom half of the frame to stun the Rays, 5-4. Tampa Bay is 0-2 in Morton’s last two outings since winning his previous four starts, which included the 14-3 rout in the series opener at the Trop last month as a -150 favorite.

                          Betcha didn’t know:
Miami knocked off Washington in the first two matchups this season back in April, but the Nationals have captured five of the past six meetings. Max Scherzer shut down the Marlins in last night’s 6-1 blowout to drop Miami to 2-9 in its past 11 home contests. The last time Patrick Corbin faced the Marlins in D.C. last month, the southpaw tossed complete-game shutout in a 5-0 triumph as a -225 favorite.
