In one month this residence consumes more energy than the average American household does in a year. The average bill for electricity and natural gas runs over $2400 per month. In natural gas alone, this property consumes more than 20 times the national average for an American home. This house is not situated in a Northern or Midwestern 'snow belt' area. It's in the South.

The e-mail has become dated, however. The now-former president Bush has moved into a new home in Preston Hollow, Texas, that is about 8,000 square feet – double the size of his Crawford ranch.

Kreider also told us in an e-mail that the Gores have made several eco-friendly changes to their home, which is now LEED certified. According to the Natural Resources Defense Council, this means that Gores' home has earned credits in five categories: "sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy and atmosphere, materials and resources and indoor environmental quality." Kreider also noted that, contrary to what was claimed in the original e-mail, the Gores' residence "does not have a guest house."

We didn't ask for the Gores' electric bills, so we can't say how much efficiency improvement the family has accomplished. But the e-mail was on target in 2007; it's out of date now.

I did not mean that we're out of oil. We will have oil for a time to come, but the overall cost is going to shoot up.

what you posted definitely sounded like you were saying we were running out of oil. i agree that the cost is rising to produce all the energy i listed. but that has absolutely no bearing on the price to the consumer, gust profitability to the co's producing the fuel. prices are set by TRADERS, not the producers. OPEC tries to control supplies to control the price, but most countries don't follow their guidelines.

if you read what I posted, you should gather that I'm not blaming the big oil countries. They know what's going on. We are going to be in a perpetual state of recession for a long time. IF you want to deny the fact that we have already peaked, go ahead. It will not get you very far. you have to break out of this partisan bubble your living in. Stop watching the news. the media is not going to report stuff like this...why would they? stories like peak oil would make most companies stock prices go down..maybe a few niches companies, like, ones that make solar panels would go up, but most would drop. we have already peaked, and in the process of SLOWLY running out.
