Of course Bush's family doing business with Laden's family didn't have anything to do with that And the amount of monies that bush and cheney were going to make off the war in Iraq had nothing to do with it eitherYou can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning

President Obama campaigned on getting the troops OUT of Iraq, where we shouldn't have been in the first place and focusing on the original target, the terrorists in Afghanistan/Pakistan. Do you people only read the crap that is fed to you by Right wing propaganda machines?
I never once said anything about Afghanistan. Please find where I did and re-quote it. I'm sure Husker can dig it up.
My original claim is accurate in that thread so long ago. It dealt with Iraq. Obama said he will start to send troops home from Iraq and I reinforced that with several sources that said it was true. Clinton has also stated that there is going to be a timeline for complete troop withdrawal and has told the Iraqi's they need to know that will be happening soon.
The Bush Administration never told Iraq we would be pulling out at some point. Bush always told the Iraqi's they could have all the time they needed.
It's unfortunate that he's having to send more troops to Afghanistan but it's become a necessary evil. I'm not happy about it, but I support that decision. As Weiner just stated, yall were plenty fine backing Bush for starting this bullshit, now you're expecting one man to end it all tomorrow. Sorry but it taint that easy....
But you have to admit .. HE never should have said HE was going to pull troops out when in actuality they are sending more over there .. need them there or not .. HE never should have said it .. and these statements that HE makes just makes me dislike HIM more and more ..
WHEW!! That is as civil as I can explain it ..

congress only controls the MONEY, the president controls where and when the troops are deployed. congress isn't the commander and chief. but then, i guess this just doesn't fit into your agenda.“A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have."

the president can start things, but at some point he is going to have to come to congress for money for any war. that's one of the checks and balances that the founding fathers put into the govt. both branches of govt have responsibility in any long term military undertaking. partisans on both sides will spin this to try and mislead people.“A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have."

For first time, Bush agrees to 'time horizon' for Iraq pullout
The United States and Iraq have agreed to a "general time horizon" for further reductions of U.S. combat troops in Iraq, the White House said Friday, the first time the Bush administration has agreed to set any kind of timeline for troop withdrawals.

I said, Bush never gave them a pullout date and said we are out of their for good.
From your stories....."general time horizon" for further reductions of U.S. combat troops
but the White House said it wasn't a reversal of President Bush's long opposition to any fixed schedule for troop reductions, including the veto of bills that included timetables for withdrawal.
"There are still discussions ongoing," said White House spokesman Gordon Johndroe. "It's not done until it's done. And the discussions are really ongoing. And ongoing and ongoing. But hopefully drawing to a conclusion
From your story again....THIS IS CALLED A DIRECT TIMELINE FOR THEM TO BE OUT.
Obama, the Democratic nominee in waiting, wants all U.S. forces out of Iraq within 16 months of his taking office, saying they are needed in Afghanistan. Violence in Afghanistan and neighboring Pakistan has increased due to a resurgent Taliban and political instability in Pakistan.

It's a necessary evil to send more in and Obama has said it ALL along that more troops would need to be deployed there because that is where the Taliban is and that is where our REAL threat is of terrorist to this country. He claims that more troops now and a pull out later next year, if not a complete withdrawal.
You seem to have a clear problem with understanding withdrawing troops and setting a time table for COMPLETE withdrawal.
