All of you are so right. Obama is sending this country down the drain he is doing a terrible job in every aspect. I cant believe i voted for the guy. And our troops deserve to be taking out of this bullshit. how many more soldiers do we need to die to put a stop to this shit. I have had 2 close people die in Iraq and one of my buddys is so messed up from the things he has seen and done. I support the Troops and pray everynight for the freedom they allow us to have and the risk they take for America. GOD BLESS THE USA!

I know this might now be the appropriate thread or even a pc question, but what happens when all of these soldiers come home? Many are National Guardsmen, many are due to be discharged, so what happens with employment? I can't imagine the transition these people are going to have coming home. Could you even think of being deployed as your wife is pregnant and never having met your own child?

that is part of being in the military. family all know you can go away for extended times. same with national guard, they didn't have a problem cashing those checks for years. there is no draft, this is something all these people CHOSE to do.

having said that. we should have been out of iraq and afghanistan a long time ago. there is no good ending in afghanistan, it's exactly like vietnam. we could make a deal with the taliban to keep al qaeda out. why do we still have troops in germany and other countries at peace? we should bring all of our soldiers home and put them on the borders. there is no real need for any foreign bases with the technology available now.

You guys are hilarious. You were all backing Bush when we went to war, and now you can't believe the horror of sending more troops. You can't just suck up your pride and admit that he's doing the right thing. He wants to pull all the troops, but the best move right now is to send more and then get all of them home. If he pulled the troops, all you tough guys, would say we weren't safe, all the taliban, al queda, made up bullshit names, that you guys fell for. Imagine if another country said the bloods and crips attacked them, because 7 guys with red and blue bandanas mastermind an attack, and so that whole country was attacking us, wouldn't make any sense would it?

i did think we should have removed sadam and his son's, and taken out al qaeda training facilities in afghanistan or any place else. but i have said for a while, maybe not here since this forum was gone for a while, that we should get out of iraq. bush was taking them out of afghanistan, and i would have wanted them all out.

you think al qaeda and the taliban are made up??

There's one thing that I will say about this war were currently in and that is that I believe we should pull out of it. We are wasting at least 1 billion a month on this war and bin laden isn't even in Afganastan. We went into Iraq which had nothing to do with 911 when we should have went after Bin Laden and had the best shot at getting him then. Of course Bush's family doing business with Laden's family didn't have anything to do with that And the amount of monies that bush and cheney were going to make off the war in Iraq had nothing to do with it either

Were a forgiving nation and we will forgive your dumbasses
Do you think this decision is Obama's only? Is not the leader of our soldiers telling us that we need more men and that we can win this war? And isn't congress and senators both Republicans and Democrats voting to increase the troops? If so then you can't blame it on Obama.

Obviously from the first post in here I'm the "know it all" someone is referring to. Do we have to go over that Iraq and Afghanistan are two separate wars? Seriously?

President Obama campaigned on getting the troops OUT of Iraq, where we shouldn't have been in the first place and focusing on the original target, the terrorists in Afghanistan/Pakistan. Do you people only read the crap that is fed to you by Right wing propaganda machines?

I never once said anything about Afghanistan. Please find where I did and re-quote it. I'm sure Husker can dig it up.

My original claim is accurate in that thread so long ago. It dealt with Iraq. Obama said he will start to send troops home from Iraq and I reinforced that with several sources that said it was true. Clinton has also stated that there is going to be a timeline for complete troop withdrawal and has told the Iraqi's they need to know that will be happening soon.

The Bush Administration never told Iraq we would be pulling out at some point. Bush always told the Iraqi's they could have all the time they needed.

It's unfortunate that he's having to send more troops to Afghanistan but it's become a necessary evil. I'm not happy about it, but I support that decision. As Weiner just stated, yall were plenty fine backing Bush for starting this bullshit, now you're expecting one man to end it all tomorrow. Sorry but it taint that easy....

Obama Urges U.S. To Shift Focus From Iraq To Afghanistan

                      Barack Obama speaking in Amman
                      July 23, 2008
                      By RFE/RL
Barack Obama, the presumed U.S. presidential nominee of the Democratic Party, summed up his visits to Afghanistan and Iraq by saying it's time to shift the United States' military attention away from Iraq and focus it on the deteriorating security situation in Afghanistan.

Speaking in Jordan on July 22, where he continued his major overseas trip, Obama said that with improved security in Iraq, he believes it's vital for Washington to shift some forces to Afghanistan, the site of the United States' first military offensive against Al-Qaeda and the Taliban shortly after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

"We went to Afghanistan first because it is the central front in the war against terrorism," Obama said. "That is where the 9/11 attacks were planned and today in Afghanistan and the border region of Pakistan, Al-Qaeda and the Taliban are mounting a growing offensive against the security of the Afghan people and, increasingly, the Pakistani people, while plotting new attacks against the United States."

Obama has proposed that if he's elected president, he would withdraw U.S. combat troops from Iraq within 16 months of his inauguration in January 2009, leaving behind only enough to train Iraqi forces, counter Al-Qaeda attacks, and protect civilian operations. There are now nearly 150,000 U.S. troops in Iraq.

Is it cheaper for us to be in Afghanistan than Iraq?Cause that was the big fuss when Obama first took office was the amount we were spending on the war.Looks to me he's costing us more money here and there
