Is it fair that the rich in this country, which control over 90% of the wealth, pay a lot less percentage of tax than the rest of the American population?Originally posted by kbsooner21Hell no! Why should it be fair for people on welfare to sit around and do nothing yet collect money from working people like me that get up everyday and go work to pay for them?
Why should I work my ass off and pay a 25-30% tax and meanwhile, someone who can no doubt afford to pay a huge tax burden comparatively, who makes billions of dollars, has a tax burden of well under 5%?
The rich are the ones who defeat the flat tax because they know that the middle and lower class will be paying less percentage and they won't be able to use loopholes to get out of their fair share.
It bothers me more that Bill Gates gets out of paying millions and maybe billions of dollars in taxes as one man, meanwhile, some poor ass on the street collected chump change off of welfare. Wow, I'm so worried about the homeless and needy getting rich off of welfare.....There's always gonna be people who abuse the system. But they're a lot who need it and don't.

Exactly bro. You either make it available for everyone and try to catch those who abuse it, or take it away completely and feel justified knowing children and old people and veteran's may be severely effected.....Taking more money out of the shit ass rich is a much more viable option. Here is a stat for you. If you are making the min wage, (that just went up) 40 hours a week, with a week paid vacation. You are bringing home $36.00 a week over the poverty level. I tired of hearing these people cry about if you raise the min wage you are going to put these small business people out of business. Who is small business anymore? There used to be the Ma and Pa hardware store. Now there is a Home Depot or a Lowes on every corner that took over that small business. There use to be the local corner grocery store. Now it's the big grocery chain that took over that small business. fast food places and so on. These type of companies are making money hand over fist and anytime they are told to pay up a little they start crying about it.
I'm not saying that everything should be equal but you have to try to level the playing field a little. A capitalist system doesn't work for everyone, it's not setup that way. Come on, not everyone is, or can be sucessful.

this whole global warming thing is not going to be proven either way. everyone can post something on either side. that tells me that there is NO concrete evidence of anything. just some spinning to make their argument look right.
could it all be generated for money??? isn't that what most things come down to!
after predicting MORE and worse hurricanes than normal last year in the USA, and having NONE. they are doing the same this year, although not as loudly, what if there are none this year also? does that mean they are all wrong? they will make excuses and come up with other dire predictions to keep the money flowing.Last edited by husker; 07-30-2007, 12:48 PM.“A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have."

There's plenty of concrete evidence supporting global warming. There's very little argument amongst the scientific community anymore on whether the problem exists and is the result of human actions. You'd be hard-pressed to find a well-respected scientist in almost any field that doesn't acknowledge those facts. All the arguments are on the political side. Providing the example of one year that bucks the trend is just as useful as saying that cold day in the middle of January is proof that global warming doesn't exist.Originally posted by huskerthis whole global warming thing is not going to be proven either way. everyone can post something on either side. that tells me that there is NO concrete evidence of anything. just some spinning to make their argument look right.

Dimer, it's blown out of proportion, because changes need to be made now, not because the earth is gonna implode tomorrow, but because if changes aren't made, the shit will hit the fan in hundreds of years. How do you guys not understand that?Originally posted by 10DimeBryhusker,
