Baseball was always my favorite sport to wager on and I always enjoyed watching it. Like you said not as much as foots though. I still enjoy wagering but also like you I do not have the time I had years ago. You know the way that is. Working more hours for less pay.

I have to admit I have mixed feelings regarding steroids. I hate a cheat but it did make the game more exciting. I remember Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwire battling it out for HR chase. I went to every one of the Cards games at Wrigley that year. That was an awesome year for baseball I thought. 1998

i agree it was very exciting,when Barry Bonds was going for the Hr mark i remember i videotaped every at bat from 700-762.What i am saying as a real baseball fan i still think a 3-2 game is just as exciting you just have to know where to look.Baseball has always been a game of chess.With the steroid era it took alot of fundamentals away from the game because you could always rely on a hr next inning,IMO that was more like a game of checkers,now i feel like its getting back to a chess game between coaches again.

I too have mixed feelings about the steroid era because damn i remember watching sportscenter just so they would break into games when Sosa or Mcquire would have an at bat.It was history watching that but inside it just did not feel like baseball to me.BASEBALL TO ME IS ABOUT TEAM AND PLAYERS WORKING TOGETHER BUNTING GUYS OVER OR HITTING THE CUT-OFF MAN ALL THE SMALL THINGS.THE HR CHASES WERE VERY EXCITING TO ME LIKE I SAID I VIDEOTAPED THEM ALL JUST DID NOT FEEL LIKE BASEBALL.

ONE OF THE HARDEST THINGS TO DO IN ALL OF SPORTS IS TO HIT A BASEBALL.IN PROFESSIONAL BASEBALL YOU ARE 60FEET 6 INCHES from a guy throwing 98 one pitch or 83 on an off-speed pitch.You have to choose if you are going to swing first off,then if the pitch is a strike or a ball and you have a split second to make a deicision to swing or not.

Steroids in my opinion did nothing except give guys the confidence that he can hit.Steroids does not help a guy hit a baseball.It might make it go further but seriously how much further,These guys would have still been hall of fame players without that junk.Same way with Sosa corking the bat i think it helped him mentally and that was it.If you have confidence and feel like you have an advantage over the pitcher then i think that is what helped these guys not just the extra muscle.
