I bet the Cubs the first game. They looked like a real team until those guys pitched. Bill Murray cursed the Cubs once again after singing "Take me out to the ball game" in that first game. All down hill since haha.

Me either doc. I will say that this organization truly killed most of the thrill out of watching baseball for me. I have not watched a complete game of baseball all last year. Baseball was my favorite sport to watch and wager one. Now I can care less if they cancel the season. This is coming from someone who had season tickets for years. I would NEVER miss a CUBS baseball game. I would be either watching on the tube with my score card in hand or be at the park watching live.

For me, you are most likely correct. Call me a bandwagoner or anything you like but you are right. I have to watch a winning and competing team or forget it. I would rather be doing something else.

What really pisses me off is listening to these idiots after the game. Sveum, or whatever his name is, says yesterday ... "No need to panic. Marmol and Wood just had a couple of bad innings". Are you fvken kidding me?? A couple of bad innings?? Their ERA is over 27. I would have so much more respect for him if he said "We suck right now. We really need to make some changes". By him saying what he did tells me this is going to be one LONG season. Anyone can see that Wood is done and Marmol-head is not much better.

Well so far the new Cubs regime looks a lot like the old one. More losses, and ugly ones at that. Yes, it’s only two games into a long season but it’s awfully deflating when the two losses have come the way they have, so far.

Bullpens can make or break a team and the back end of the Cubs bullpen has lost them two games they should have won.

In Thursday’s opener, Kerry Wood and Carlos Marmol ganged up to gift wrap a victory to Washington. And it must have been so much fun they decided to do it again in Saturday’s second game on the year.

Wood came into the game in the 8th inning with a 4-2 lead and after getting two quick outs then served up a home run to cut the margin in half. He then put on base two more runners and got the heave ho from Manger, Dale Sveum. Enter Marmol who then proceeded to allow those two runners to score plus two more as Washington scored 5 times.

After the game, Sveum tried to keep his calm, “It’s no panic situation yet. Just a couple of bad innings the last few days”.

How long do you think it will be before he has a Lou Piniella melt down? There’s already a pool going around in the press box and the heavy money is on it being pretty soon.

At least Marmol was honest when he was asked about the massive booing he got, “I deserved it”, he said and on that he was right on target.

So two games into what feels like a long season, already, the Cubs are searching for answers. And if the back end of the bullpen continues this way the season will be over (mathematically) pretty quick.

As far as the record goes only the Royals have a worse record but they have a good team.Royals started off bad but have a lot of good kids on the field.Just don't see how the owners can sell this club to this loyal fan base.I guess they figure we are going to sell out every game regardless if we win or not so let's not pay any big contracts and make $$$$$.Ridiculous.
