Way to go RJ, I quit cold turkey 12 years ago. Mrs. CheChe quit August 29 last year cold turkey. It's really hard but the best way to go. If you can't kick it the gum is better than smoking. I know some people that have used it instead of giving up nicotine all together.

My company makes Nicorette Gum Nicoderm Patch. Let me know if you need some just have Spark send you my email address. Best wishes and good luck. You will have it licked in about 3 to 6 more months.

I smoked for 34 yrs. Four years ago I had a heart attack. Smoked a cigarette on the way to the hospital. That was the last one I put in my mouth. Sometimes it takes something drastic to open your eyes or at least thats the way it was for me!

              Only One Way!!!!

              RJ,

There is really only one way to quit, cold turkey. What I did was set a date to begin, go as long as you possibly can without a smoke. Remind youself that you can have a smoke anytime you really want (eases the mental state of mind). If you cannot go any longer, have a smoke. After you do you will realize that it doesn't taste that good, and you will realize that it is strickly a habit (you don't really like the taste). Tell yourself that you have not failed, you just gave in and that you have prepared yourself for the withdrawls that you can expect. Set Another date and try again, this time you will be more prepared for the withdrawl, and tell yourself that the feeling of withdrawl is your body telling you that it is just the healing process. If you give in again, then set another date, and continue to do so. When you are really ready to quit, you will know it & you will also know what to expect. This will work if you stay with it, try not to go to long before you re-set a date to try again.
It is a statistical fact that anyone who uses aides to quit smoking usually go back after a period of tme (70%). It takes time, but, it can be done. It's all in your head and one of those times you will actually be ready.

              Good luck!!!

I had started for a brief time, but stopped again on January 1st of this year, and haven't had a cigarrette since. I'm still on the patch, and it is a daily struggle to not smoke, but I'm doing it.

                  thanks for asking buddy!

It's tough. I smoked a pack a day and I haven't smoked since super bowl. The first few days are definitely the hardest. Good luck and don't quit quitting!!!!

I've smoked for 12 years, and just quit on Sunday. I got the Nicoderm CQ patch and started at Level 1, the damn thing burns when you first put it on, and then it makes me feel nautious, dizzy, and have an upset stomach for about 2 hours. When I wake up in the morning, I feel ok, and then ok for the rest of the day.

This is one of the hardest things I've had to do, after smoking about 1/2 pack to a pack a day for 12 years, this is tough.

Anyway, this is my 3rd day now, and I kind of feel depressed. Not sure if it's because of losing a little money on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, or because of the withdrawal?

                            Any thoughts are appreciated!

Sure your not pregnet? LOL just kidd'in
