Just quit cold turkey! You do not need the friken patch. If you really want to quit then just do it. If you can quit for two weeks you can go the rest of your life without a smoke. I smoked and chewed since I was 14 and quit at 30. It was much harder to quit the chewing than smoking. You do not need the faggot patch. Just quit. Have a little will power. That is all it takes.

RJ- I am an acupuncture physician working with smokers. Take all things away from you with smoke. Teeth cleaned, ashtrays gone, clothes and coats with the smell, Change sheets regularly due to outpouring from skin. Drink plenty of water, tongue will be of a redder color generally, indicates fluid need. Acupuncture will reduce the desire but not the psychological triggers such as a drink or coffee or driving or sex or whatever. Utilize your hands - ****** Carson used a pencil to help stop. Carrots or pens - use your imagination. You are in control. Exercise and eating right helps you stay in discipline mode. We have a new drug out - I will find out the name- that may help. I have been very successful in treating but it is a control issue you have to get on top of. Other control issues may be out of whack and this could be your way of controlling something in your life. You come across as a strong willed person- Have things around you that shows you have overcome obstacles in the past. Pictures awards, etc. good Luck Brother. acumed4u@*****.com"The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice.

Hey RJ, I just wanted to tell you that a buddy of mine was a smoker of 10 years, he smoked on Average 22 cigs a day, so a little over a pack... he decided to quit on Jan 5th of this year, and none of us can believe how he hasnt smoked since... We even went to Vegas for the Superbowl, and he didnt smoke when he was gambling... He quit by checking websites out on the internet, and doing research, there are a lot of support groups out there to help you quit... He also installed this thing on his computer, its called the quitmeter, it tells you how many cigs you HAVENT smoked and how much money youve saved... He told me that everytime he wants or wanted a a cigarette he would use a Yoga breathing techique, where he would inhale for two deep breaths inhale and exhale and when he breathed out you tell yourself "I AM A NONSMOKER" Do this 2 or 3 times and the cravings will go away... I'm talkin to him about it on the phone right now... he says the name of that site is quitmeter dot com and he is at 937 cigarettes NOT smoked and $187.40 SAVED!! he says that you'll be amazed at how much better you will feel and smell... whyquit.com is a good site he said to check out this link and read some of the stories .... http://whyquit.com/whyquit/A_Kim.html Anyways hope this helps bro, you dont want to die any sooner than you have to do ya? With Emphysema You can breath in but you can't breath out.. THAT MY FRIEND WOULD SUCK!! Good Luck in quitting hope this helps a little...Last edited by illjaunt; 02-18-2005, 02:43 AM.RED LIGHT UP THAT CIGAR

COLD TURKEY IS THE ONLY WAY TO GO!!
Turkey's Triumphs
Did you quit smoking (or chewing) cold turkey?
Have you been 100% nicotine-free for at least 1 year?
Share your victory
Sadly, nicotine cessation rates are grinding to a halt. Imagine day #2 of quitting cold turkey and hearing a nicotine gum commercial proclaim that only a super-hero can quit cold, that it's twice as hard, that few succeed, and that nicotine gum is all that stands between you and failure. Those profiting from replacement nicotine have conditioned smokers to believe that if they can't gradually wean themselves off of all nicotine, by weeks of toying with replacement nicotine, that they're hopeless. They tell us that if we failed once while using their magic cure that it was "our" fault, not the cure's, and that we need to buy more nicotine. This page and website are dedicated to countering such nonsense.
We invite you to help restore faith and confidence in the quitting method responsible for generating all but a small fraction of earth's long-term successful quitters. Just maybe, pages such as this will foster interest in restoring the thousands of effective community-based quitting programs that pharmaceutical industry nicotine and influence destroyed.
Those pushing over-the-counter nicotine replacement products like the patch, gum and lozenge have spent hundreds of millions and two decades bashing and trashing cold turkey quitting. They've bashed while knowing that 93% of study participants relapsed to smoking within six months, while knowing that relapse rates for repeat patch users were almost 100%, while knowing that NRT studies were not double-blind as claimed, while knowing that untold thousands were getting hooked on the cure, and bashed while admitting that 36.6% using nicotine gum are chronic long-term users.
If you quit cold turkey and have remained nicotine-free for at least one year, we invite you to share your victory. Be sure and tell those just starting out how much time you spend each day thinking about wanting to smoke or chew nicotine. Reassurance that the challenges of early recovery are temporary is a wonderful gift to give. If you do not want your e-mail address shared please let me know.
Only one rule ... no nicotine today, Never Take Another Puff, Dip or ChewRED LIGHT UP THAT CIGAR

Wow- the play --is on another smokeless day- Thats the win streak that is mo important now. Reduce bets RJ -to reduce stress and dissolution- to free your mind and please include breathing techniques- sounds hokie- but my patients are instructed to breathe first in thru the mouth and 1/2 way breathe in thru the nose. This incorporates the diaphram to also "unstick" - Keep it up for at least five minutes. Then see how much of a breath you can take. More oxygen- less carbon dioxide- less acid in body- more 'free radicals' to carry away the impurities. Have enjoyed others advice as well and learned a few things to carry forth."The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice.

RJ,
Just noticed this thread. GREAT JOB MAN. The way you decided to do this for yourself will be the motivation that takes you over the edge.
I have smoked for 4 years and this thread is really having an impact on me. Just remember the mental part is as or more important than the physical. Make sure to detach yourself from all the association you have created smoking cigarettes (e.g having a cig after a meal, at a bar, etc.) Also keep your self-talk healthy and motivated and conceptualize yourself as a NON-SMOKER, one that NEVER as a cigarette. That's just my $.02
good luck man, good luck to me too.Everybody dies, but not everyone lives.
