I was actually eating on the opposite side of town with a couple friends of mine when my dad called saying he had fallen. I have NEVER heard him sound like that on the phone, and I was expecting the worst. Luckily I got ahold of my sister who was near his house, as my dad told me not to call an ambulance. She got him loaded up into the car and I met them at the hospital. It was just a big scare for me as my Dad is not very old (51) and is still in good shape and works out and this wasn't something that I would think would happen to him. Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes. You all are the BEST!
Glad to hear your dad is ok KB, give him a hug. You are right, it could have been much worse.

This is so close to one of the shit ass things I have been dealing with for the past month. My father in law is a red neck like you. He had picked up a ton of coal with a neighbor to split for their stoves. His neighbor left him with the truck at his house and said take your half and I will take your truck and come back. My 74 year old mountain man father in law was shoveling a half a ton of coal off the back of his pickup into a coal bin in front of the house. Had a slight heart attack. The heart attack didn't hurt him, it was the fall from the back of the pickup. When the neighbor came back he was knocked out on the ground. To make a long story short he broke 6 vertebrae and had spinal cord damage. They gave him a 20% chance of walking after surgery. They had to fuse a bunch together and release fluid from the spine and a bunch of other crap. Once again to shorten the story, the tough son of a bitch made it through surgery, is walking with a walker and after a month of therapy is now home going through 4 days a week of continuous therapy.

So when you thinkk it could of been a lot worse, you are right!!!

        • The bride to be said: "A long frilly white dress with a veil." The sales
clerk hesitated a bit, then said, "Please don't take this the wrong way,
but gowns of that nature are considered more appropriate for brides who
          are
being married the first time - for those who are a bit more innocent, if
you know what I mean? Perhaps ivory or sky blue would be nice?"

"Well," replied the customer, a little peeved at the clerk's directness,
          "I
can assure you that a white gown would be quite appropriate. Believe it
          or
not, despite all my marriages, I remain as innocent as a first-time
          bride.
You see, my first husband was so excited about our wedding, he died as
          we
were checking into our hotel. My second husband and I got into such a
terrible fight in the limo on our way to our honeymoon that we had that
wedding annulled immediately and never spoke to each other again."

"What about your third husband?" asked the sales clerk.

"That one was a Democrat," said the woman, "and every night for four
          years,
he just sat on the edge of the bed and told me how good it was going to
          be, but nothing ever happened."
