Chad is having a GREAT year but Dan is going for a Cy Young award right now!
True, but Haren is bound to fall back to earth soon. Opponents are batting .218 against him on balls in play, which he can't keep up unless he has 8 gold gloves behind him and he's stranding more than 82% of his baserunners, which will drop. He's also increased his flyball percentage this year, so it's a wonder that he hasn't given up more home runs. Haren is a beast, but he's bound to regress towards a 3.50-4.00 ERA sooner or later.

I'm sure he will but maybe the way he is pitching, he IS the real deal. They all started somewhere. Who's to say Gaudin doesn't fall back after people see him a little more too.
Oh, there's no doubt that Haren is the ace of that staff and I would much rather have him over Gaudin in the long run. Just making the point that a 1.58 ERA is ridiculously good and damn near impossible to keep up, especially with those peripherals.
Rich Harden (shoulder) is on track to come off the disabled list Wednesday and is expected to pitch out of the bullpen.
Harden played catch Thursday and is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Friday. Barring a setback, he's expected to throw a simulated game Monday. "I still have a lot of work to do,'' Harden said. "We'll see how it feels.''
LMAO....... love his comment........ 2 months ago he was like...."its nothing, i'm not going to miss a start".......this guy is so fragile its hilarious
Rich Harden threw off the top of a mound Friday for the first time since mid April. He tossed 42 pitches without any problems and will throw an inning against hitters next, according to the Contra Costa Times. "I'm happy with the way I feel right now," Harden said. If all goes well, Harden could return to action next week and work out of the bullpen
Rich Harden continues to make progress, throwing a light side session prior to Saturday's game, the Athletics official site reports. He could throw against hitters in a simulated game in Oakland on Monday, get an inning in Sacramento on Wednesday and be ready to be activated on Friday.
Rich Harden gave up one hit in one inning of relief for Triple-A Sacramento, clearing the way for his return from the disabled list Friday against the Mets, the AP reports. Out since April 16 with a strained right shoulder, Harden struck out one and looked sharp in the only minor league appearance of his rehab. "It's just more getting a feel today and throwing my changeup and throwing some off-speed pitches," Harden said. "My fastball was a little bit up today but other than that I got a couple down, made some good pitches and that's what I wanted to do." The Athletics are expected to use Harden out of the bullpen, at least initially.
