Blue Jays placed RHP A.J. Burnett on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 29, with a right shoulder injury.

Could the Blue Jays handle injured pitchers any worse? Burnett threw 130 pitches, went on the DL with a sore shoulder after his next start, was rushed back after missing just two turns and is now right back out again. He might have to be written off for the rest of the year at some point. Jesse Litsch is likely to replace him in the rotation.

Jul 3 Matt Smith, of Oakland.Athletics.MLB.com, reports after throwing two innings Saturday, June 30, Oakland Athletics SP Rich Harden (shoulder) has no timetable for throwing again but manager Bob Geren is hoping he will return by this weekend.

Rich Harden's right shoulder reportedly didn't feel "right" Sunday and he's scheduled to be examined by Dr. Lewis Yocum Monday.

"I think at this point, after what's transpired the first part of the season, it would be sort of foolish to plan on Rich being back soon,'' general manager Billy Beane said. "We won't know until he sees the doctor, but, obviously, this has been bothering him for quite awhile. It's been almost three months, and it's still bothering him. To expect he'll just be better in two weeks is unrealistic.''

Jul 12 Harden (shoulder) will be placed back on the 15-day DL on Thursday with an irritated shoulder capsule, the same injury that sidelined him back in early April according to the Contra Costa Times.
Recommendation: There's been no mention yet of how long Harden will be remain sidelined this time, but it's safe to assume it could be September before he rejoins the A's again.

Jul 13 Harden (shoulder) will head back home to British Columbia, the Contra Costa Times reports.
Recommendation: He'll rest his shoulder for several weeks before attempting to resume his comeback. While there's no official timetable for his return, don't expect him back until late August at the earliest.
