    Do we think teams like Baylor and Oklahoma are comparable to teams like South Carolina and Arkansas?

    In my opinion, it's not even close. But to each his own opinion, I guess.
    Actually statistically Chokelahoma (FBS Ranking 4th Off/60th Def) does compare (inversely) to South Carolina (FBS Ranking 71st Off/4th Def). Arkansas, again record not included (FBS Ranking 25th Off/49th Def) does compare (again inversely) to Texas (FBS Ranking 43rd Off/14th Def) and Texas lost three of their games by a combined 28 points in total.

    Baylor can again inversely (because it seems not many teams in the Big 12 play defense) compare somewhat to a Georgia squad. Kansas St lines up with the Auburn squad, and the bottom half of the division really stacks pretty close looking again at rankings and statistics.

    Texas A&M=Florida
    Iowa St=Miss St
    TT=Tenn
    Kansas=Mississippi

    Ok St doesnt play a lick of defense so they really dont line up well against a LSU or Alabama. Thus the reason I feel the computer found the best two teams for the championship. Although I think the strength of the two conferences are a lot closer then people are making it out to be.

    • And the top 2 Big 12 have 0!!! wins vs top 25 teams vs SEC top 2 have 3 wins.

      • OSU's D is ranked #1 in takeaways. Also, their numbers are skewed some in the fact that in quite a few games the scores were around 49-0 at half.

          Oklahoma beat Florida State ranked #5 at the time, but I'd have to look at the final BCS poll again.

            Yes, so was I. BCS has K State at #9.

              • Baylor beat #18 TCU, but yes that is the only out of conference top 25 win.

                • So being that they compare in reverse: Big 12 better offense/SEC better defense, I guess the question is: Which is more important. Using last 3 BCS Championship bowls at least, I would say the defense by far. In all 3 of them the defensive team turned it into more of their pace not other way around. I would say that a 30 point average drop off from season scoring average shows that once these offenses are up against that caliber of defenses their strength is taken away.

                    Statistics are great, except when you play in two totally different conferences. I'm sure teams like Houston and Boise could line up statistically and inversely to some of the top SEC teams.

                    However, I think those teams, also are far and away from the top SEC teams. In terms of purely who beats who if they play each other on the field.

                    Would be great if there was some Big12/SEC matchups to look at.

                      That Florida State team also ended up losing to 6-6 Wake Forest and 8-4 unranked Virginia.

                      • So sick that I am bored enough to look at it, but... In all Championship games involving an SEC team this century, opposing teams have only broken 20 twice in 6 games(24 and 21) and SEC team has broken 20 every single time.

                          But as far as picking teams for THIS SEASON'S NC game, the last 10 yrs SHOULDN'T matter.

                          I keep hearing this similar stance when it comes to the Heisman. As much as I think Luck is a can't miss NFL prospect, he shouldn't win the Heisman because "he brought Stanford back from being a bad team, he had a great 2010, etc." If the award is simply about THIS SEASON as it should be, RG3 is hands down the winner. If you compare his numbers to Luck's, there's no comparison. And I'm not even gonna get into a RG3 vs. Richardson debate, but I think he will either win or finish 2nd because he had a great year "against the tough SEC defenses."

                          • I think there still is a link between how conference teams from a very recent past and this season play overall. And as an LSU fan, I think that this is the best defense I have seen LSU have and Alabama's D is just as good. Unfortunately we can not prove it on the field, but I would have been STUNNED if Oklahoma State would have scored 30 on either of them as some "analysts" said they would. And once again, I think if Alabama plays Oklahoma State on a neutral field, there is NO WAY Oklahoma State is a favorite in that game.
