The AL Gold Glove winners were announced though today and the ONLY player i REALLY had a problem with was Jeter winning at SS. I remember guys here before saying based on stats and stuff, he was one of the worst Shortstop's defensively in baseball. Did he deserve to Win the Gold Glove today and is he the Best defensive SS in the American League?
Secondly, with age Jeter's defensive stats have improved.

A few months ago I posted his defensive stats are equal or slightly better than some of the better well known defensive shortstops.

Look at Jeter's stats in '04 (his first GG), it's a joke how he won.
Range makes one slow. It doesn't make one a bad fielder. How often does range come into play? Once or twice each week? OK so he allowed an extra hit every few games. How often does stopping that ground ball up the middle save a run? Once a month? A few times each season?
Bases purely on stats Erick Aybar should have won.

totally agree...range doesn't matter if you still pick it clean... reguardless, I cant stand the little arrogant prick !9-4 = +5.85

But, nevertheless, I find range to be second most important factor after fielding % in deciding fielders.
Jeter was not at all a poor fielder this year, but he was not the best either, and the stats show that.
But, like all these awards, they are subjective and Jeter is Jeter. And he wins."CFB YTD: 5-8-1 -16.2"

Defensively, he is average.
He's not the best SS on his own team."CFB YTD: 5-8-1 -16.2"

I don't like Jeter, or how everyone thinks he is something he's not."CFB YTD: 5-8-1 -16.2"
