  • Derek Jeter

Jeter is one of the few Yankees i have ever really admitted to like. The AL Gold Glove winners were announced though today and the ONLY player i REALLY had a problem with was Jeter winning at SS. I remember guys here before saying based on stats and stuff, he was one of the worst Shortstop's defensively in baseball. Did he deserve to Win the Gold Glove today and is he the Best defensive SS in the American League?

Yes even a step slower he's the best SS in the American League.

It's a flawed award. It's not like they're gonna give it to some slick fielding punch judy that no ones ever heard of. What other SS's are there in the AL?

Is that a Law Firm? Dude, the people that vote for these awards have no clue, trust me, I know a few.

I guess Aybar and Bartlett have more errors anyway. They were calling it a lifetime achievement award on the radio today.

I'm kinda bummed. I thought Ellsbury might get one. He was a highlight reel in Center this year.

Adam Jones didn't deserve it stat wise, but he was a highlight reel out there. I heard Gutierez had the best defensive stats, but nobody was gonna vote for him.

Jeter didn't deserve the first two GGs he got, as his stats those seasons were awful as well.

He wins awards because he's Derek Jeter.

                        Defensively?

His range and zone stats for his career are barely average.

Yea but he dove into the stands once. The voters don't even know the other players

Almost dead last in range. How are you the best SS in your league but can't get to anything outside a five foot radius?

Look at Jeter's stats in '04 (his first GG), it's a joke how he won.
