        That CB was cut with Oakland after 8 games. Meanwhile Jacobs is looking to be a premier running back. Still think $15 million a year for that CB is ridiculous.

              On Tuesday, Kurt Warner instructed his agent, Mark Bartelstein, to make a two-year, $23 million proposal to stay with the Cardinals. According to Bartelstein, Warner's proposal would include $12 million in guarantees, $6 million each season.

              The Bengals have fended off an attempt by the Texans to sign running back Cedric Benson, reaching a two-year deal with him.

                      Rams sign ex-Giants S Butler, ex-Saints FB Karney
                      The St. Louis Rams solidified their secondary and backfield with a pair of free agent signings Wednesday, giving safety James Butler a four-year contract and adding veteran fullback Mike Karney. Terms of the deals were not disclosed. The 26-year-old Butler will be reunited with new Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo, his defensive coordinator the last two seasons with the New York Giants. "It's always good when you get an opportunity to obtain a player that you are familiar with," Spagnuolo said.

                      Panthers cut starting CB Lucas in cap move
                      The Carolina Panthers have released starting cornerback Ken Lucas in a move that clears about $2.3 million in salary-cap space. The Panthers had been trying to work out a trade for the veteran, but Lucas vetoed a deal to the Detroit Lions last month and the Panthers on Wednesday cut him loose after he struggled late last season. The Panthers signed Lucas to a six-year, $36 million free-agent deal in 2005 and he started 49 of 50 games with 13 interceptions.

                        Browns sign OL St. Clair
                        The Cleveland Browns have signed versatile offensive lineman John St. Clair, who spent the past four seasons with the Chicago Bears. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. St. Clair started 16 games at left tackle last season for the Bears. In 2007, he started one game at left tackle. one at right tackle and three at left guard. He was with St. Louis from 2000-2003, Miami Dolphins in 2004 and the Bears since 2005.


                        Chiefs bring back Monte Beisel
                        The Kansas City Chiefs have come to terms with linebacker Monte Beisel and wide receivers Bobby Engram and Terrance Copper. Beisel played for the Chiefs from 2001-2004. The former Kansas State player most recently was with the Arizona Cardinals after a year in New England. Engram began his NFL career with the Chicago Bears in 1996 and went to the Seattle Seahawks in 2001. He has caught 645 passes for 7,690 yards with 35 touchdowns, and has returned two punts for touchdowns.

                          Patriots sign veteran WR Joey Galloway
                          New England has signed veteran wide receiver Joey Galloway, giving the Patriots two of the most prolific active receivers in the NFL. The 37-year-old Galloway has a 15.7 yards-per-reception career average. That leads all active NFL players with 300 or more career receptions and is just ahead of New England's Randy Moss, who has a career average of 15.6. Galloway and Moss are also among only nine active receivers with 10,000 or more career receiving yards.
