The Boston Herald reports the Red Sox are offering 1B Mark Teixeira "a likely eight-year contract worth somewhere between $145 [million] and $175 million, possibly more. That may or may not be enough to get Teixeira to agree, [because] he is currently believed to be weighing an eight-year offer worth an unknown amount from the Angels, an eight-year offer from the Nationals worth $160 million, and a seven-year offer from the Orioles for $150 million."

Only a mercenary moron would choose to go to the shitty Nats or Orioles for a few million dollars more over the Red Sox or Angels.
ps In keeping with my beliefs, I don't think Sox should chase this guy at any cost;he won't hit 1000 and drive in 300 runs, and if it comes down to it, there are worse possibilites than having Mike Lowell around for a while longer.
ps If forced to choose though between spending the same amount of money on Teixeira or ANY pitcher out there, I would take him in a heartbeat.
