BALTIMORE ORIOLES VISIT CHICAGO WHITE SOX
SATURDAY MAY 14 @ 7:05 EST
This game should be a gem, pairing two of the three division leaders in the American League. O's lead the AL East and the Sox lead the AL Central. Both teams possess two of the top records in the bigs, and Baltimore is 9-2 on the road, while Chicago is 11-3 at home. Two of the AL's best pitchers will square off with the O's Daniel Cabrera and the Sox Freddy Garcia. Cabrera is 2-2 with a 4.50 ERA, but is a very imposing figure at 6-7 251 pounds. He has averaged six innings per outing, sports a 1.44 WHIP and holds opponents to a .244 batting average. His out pitch is his fastball that has been timed between 97 - 98 mph. Unfortunately he has had trouble controlling it, thus the ranking of 5th in the AL in walks. Still he possesses an above average curve to go with a change-up that is a work in progress.
Freddy Garcia is 3-2, 3.21 ERA, and has averaged almost 7 innings per outing while sporting a 1.17 WHIP. Garcia has a 2-1 strikeout to walk ratio, and has held opponents to a .240 batting average. He truly has one of the best collections of pitches in the major leagues. A solid 92-93 mph fastball, quality change-up which makes his fb seem quicker and a nice curve and slider. His Achilles heel has been his ability to get the left hand batters out, and you can be sure Baltimore will attempt to load up it's line-up with LHB.
Our expert analysts at RED ZONE SPORTS see this game being won by the bullpen, unless Cabrera has control problems early and puts runners in scoring position without earning it. If it gets down to the boys from the pen, take the O's who have had great work at late. We like the Baltimore Orioles to go into Chicago and pull out a victory.

Texas Rangers // Astros Detailed Slammer
HOUSTON ASTROS VISIT TEXAS RANGERS
SATURDAY MAY 21ST AT 4:05 PM EST
This Saturday afternoon fray pits the Rangers who are 5th in the AL West against the Astro's who are a lowly 5TH in the NL Central. We've got an interesting set of mound opponents for this match-up-up, one who is in his first year of full major leaguer experience, and one who was almost snatched from the world of professional baseball to play for the NBA Sacramento Kings. Astacio for the Astros is only 25 and in his first full season and has only three starts to his credit. More importantly he has an 0-2 record with a 7.31 ERA and a WHIP of 1.44 and has been knocked around by the opposition at a .292 batting clip.
Texas will send out Chris Young who was a basketball star at Princeton, yep that's right the Ivy League school until Texas drafted him away in his sophomore season. Even more interesting is that last year Sacramento who has two former Princeton players/coaches on it's staff who remembered Young and thought he might be interested and offered him a contract at close to a million a year to give up baseball during the summer season. I guess I didn't mention that Young is 6-10, 260 lbs,, obviously an imposing figure and has a reasonable curve and fastball clocked in the mid 90's. Texas hurried up and signed him to a three year contract at a mill and a half a year. He has responded with a record of 3-2 in 8 starts and a WHIP of 1.39. It should be noted that he finished the last six weeks of the 2004 season with 3 wins and a 4.71 ERA.
Normally RED ZONE SPORTS looks for the underdog to create more value for you, but this looks too good to pass up. A picture that has bee better than average at home versus a very inexperienced pitcher on the road hurling for the worst road team record wise in the bigs. The Stros are a miserable 2-16 when playing away and things don't appear to be improving. Take the Rangers to easily cover and win Saturday.
