It's rumored that Pinny had some agents in the US which made them fair game for the Feds. BOS had similar problems with some gambling hardware that was located in the US. My uncle who is an Asst US Attorney here in Chicago has said over and over that the Feds will never prosecute a foreign company with foreign nationals acting as officers of the company especially over this bullshit. If they really wanted to they could attempt to collect some back excise taxes and the like but that will never happen. And the only thing Congress could do is make it harder to fund offshore accounts which is what this last anti-gambling bill attempts to do. It's already illegal under The Wire Act to place a wager online but have you ever heard of an individual being prosecuted for violating this law in the 30 something years it has been on the books? I don't know where you get Jan 31 as a deadline but I'm willing to bet that there will still be plenty of offshores around at that time. Assuming they have no ties whatsoever (agents, offices, hardware/software, etc...) to the US the Feds WILL NOT touch them. Perhaps the rhetoric will get to them and they'll cave but that remains to be seen.

What was their rationale? I have also heard rumors that one of Pinny's owners lives in the US which puts him at risk. I've also heard that they are trying to go public and eliminated a potentially risky US market. Any of these true?

A good deal of the original "offshore" books were locals that decided to run things from another country, thus protecting themselves (not really their agents), but most had a few strikes against them and couldn't afford another bust.

Never did they anticipate the internet craze (and profits) that would come in the future, but almost all kept their US runner/agent structure.

I have not heard that this structure was their demise, but it does shed some light for those that say "why would they even do that".

The bottom line is that the off shore books do not need us customers to surrvive. Of course they welcome their business but their interest are well too diversified. They will not spend tons of money trying to litigate against the US gov't. It will take much too much time and wasteful money. This is as obvious a situation as I have ever seen. Get your money out now or you will regret it! What more do you people need to see happen before the same thing happens and you will be screwed. Believe me, I know what it's like not to have any action but be smarter than this

FYI for those of you who have requested an echeck withdrawal from Pinnacle. My echeck withdrawal from Pinnacle finally appeared on my internet banking site this morning and is identified as "in process". I was probably one of the first ones to request a withdrawal since I happened to have a bout of insomnia in the middle of Wednesday night right after the announcement came out. I'm guessing that Pinnacle is backlogged with withdrawal requests now though.
