Joe, you learn fundamentals in Little League, High School, College and the Minors. No MLB Manager should be out there teaching fundamentals to 5 or 10 million dollar players. I'm sorry but that's a joke! If you manage K.C. or T.B. then yes, it's understandable to teach that with all rookies or young guys but that's simply NOT THE CASE WITH THE CUBS!!!!!
This team played like that long before Dusty arrived and everyone thought Dusty would be the savior. Well, guess what, the players still have to play and NO MANAGER will look good if that doesn't happen, period.
MLB Managers are there to handle "Mechanics" and double switches or ego's. They shouldn't have to tell a 10 million dollar player where to throw , a ball with 1 out and a man on 1st. I strongly disagree too and believe that!
this post started as funny but then got serious, and for the most part i understand the points, but a couple are a little off for me.
why is it acceptable for teams like KC and tampa or whomever with young guys to be making errors or throwing to wrong bases..etc...but when it's the cubs who have 2 rookies in the starting lineup, it's not ok? I dont get that. Throw in 2 rookie pitchers in the rotation, and you add to the mix.
Dusty Baker has come in and changed the face of the team. you don't believe it? Think again....before Dusty we were lovable losers, wait till next year but lets have some fun at the old ball park.
Not now...now we EXPECT to compete and get pissed off when we don't. That's a fundamental change that Dusty brought to the clubhouse. Like him or not that is the Truth.
Are the Cubs a good team? No. Should they get rid of Dusty? Yes I do think it's time for a change. I think Dusty has taken them as far as he can go, and now we need someone else to take the team to the next level.
I think the team with all the injuries that they have right now are being a tad bit unfairly judged, HOWEVER, they should be better then they are with the players they put out on the field.
i am NOT a cubs apologist....but I'm certainly not ready to just throw them to the wolves.
Meg.....you need to work on your aim though..cut down on the vodka, and you could have hit him last night!

It's about resources and payroll John, along with fan support. The Cubs have all 3 and the others don't!

I get it, so being loveable "Losers" was fine???
Sad .......
I would rather take the leap then just be pissed because he took that away. Why don't fans care about winning in Wrigley more than they care about having fun.

I'm agreeing and I'm not...all at the same time...lol
It just seems like a double standard to me.
But I KNOW where your coming from.
I think this organization is from top to bottom a million times better then it was 10 years ago, and again if there were not such high expectations, we woulnd't even be talking about this.
That in itself is a different world for die hard cubs fans.

Very weird!
Not on my end...but that's the stigma that was put on the club.

Next level? Are you serious???
When have they done that in my lifetime? I'm not talking about the WS either. I'm just talking about winning consistently.
Keep supporting it and it won't change.
P.S.
Who's in charge of keeping prior and wood there year after year to eat salary and not innings?

Is that Dusty Baker's fault too ... Probably!
Yes Wayne, next level.
Check the records. The numbers don't lie.
this is gonna get worse before better for me, so I think I'll just end this one here.
I will always support the Cubs. I have in all the losing years when no one cared in my lifetime, and I will when they continue to try to get better and get to the next level and the level after that.
If that makes me stupid (i'm saying it, not you) then so be it. But that's the way it's gonna be and I'll defend them to the end if there is merit.
Do you need some attention Bry? Is that the problem? no one responding to your post?
Ok Dimer...i have read your post now...
