The Cubs were the Cubs before Dusty and they will be after Dusty. It isn't his fault they can't get out of their own way on the field or come through at the plate. If i was Dusty, i would quit anyway. The Cubs are seriously a JOKE and it's not because of Dusty. Wayne, I agree with most of what you said .. But the Tribune Co is not going to fire themselves ... You do not watch this guys moves day in and day out like I do .. or should I say did ... He is awful ... He is lost with the pitching staff .. He puts a line-up out there and if they win they win ... Have you seen some of the scores they have lost by the last few games?? ... OMG ... Joe, I watch a SHITLOAD of Cub games because i have the MLB Extra Innings package and have for 3 years. I get every Cubs game and not knowing or watching this team is not the issue. Do you think Dusty forgot how to manage or that Fred Smith or anyone else would make a difference managing this team? Seriously?? I've seen him make 100 pitching changes too but it's not like the guy has alot to work with out of the pen or in long relief. Everyone on that staff is inconsistent and unreliable. No, you can't fire the Tribune company but you can stop going to games and take a stand. It's a joke to see that place filled daily while the tribune company laughs their way to the bank.
If i lived anywhere near Chicago the only MLB games i would be interested in is the White Sox because that is a fun team to watch, unlike the Bad News Bears (Cubs).
Fire Wood & Prior, then start building a team without those 2 degenerate Disabled List Veterans and move forward.
There is NOBODY out there that will take this team over from Dusty and move them far ahead enough in the standings to matter and that's just my opinion from someone who does watch this team often!

Joe, you learn fundamentals in Little League, High School, College and the Minors. No MLB Manager should be out there teaching fundamentals to 5 or 10 million dollar players. I'm sorry but that's a joke! If you manage K.C. or T.B. then yes, it's understandable to teach that with all rookies or young guys but that's simply NOT THE CASE WITH THE CUBS!!!!!Originally posted by Spark
This team played like that long before Dusty arrived and everyone thought Dusty would be the savior. Well, guess what, the players still have to play and NO MANAGER will look good if that doesn't happen, period.
MLB Managers are there to handle "Mechanics" and double switches or ego's. They shouldn't have to tell a 10 million dollar player where to throw a ball with 1 out and a man on 1st. I strongly disagree too and believe that!
