Savage, One question. Do you plan on selling her ring after you buy it? Probably NOT!

Where did I write anything about RESALE?

Are you pissed b/c Nascar is a week away, or just looking for someone to start trouble with, or just using Mod status to show off? I'm not sure but I am trying to lend assistance too a fellwo board member who asked questions? I am a partner in a mortgage comapny too Wayne. You want to tell everyone what mortgage product is best for them too?

Savage, I would check out Tiffany's ...don't get scared away from the name brand...they are quality diamonds and the service is impecable. I also found the prices reasonable. Also consider if for some unfortunate reason the ring is damaged or stolen, you don't have to go through the hassle of having an accurate apprasial. I am told that insurance companies take the Tiffany apprasial at face value, while others may need additional proof of value.
The main thing is to get a style she likes and have at it.

You brought up Resale. I just wondered what your expert opinion was on clarity enhanced stones since they "look good" and you advised a board member to buy what looks good. Are there different methods of enhancing? Does anything happen to a CE stone after time?

Once again John, ask her that same exact question and tell me if SHE cares dumbass!

It's about what SHE wants and i'm willing to bet whether she admits it or not ... SIZE MATTERS!

I would imagine she wants a ring that looks great. A larger, poorly cut stone won't look as good.(despite your opinions). Nor does she probably want a bunch or inclusions in her stone either.

And on 2nd thought, this should be Mod post of the year!!:christmas

Savage, one other thing to consider is the quality of the diamond. You don't want the diamond changing colors or fading a few month or even years after the purchase. That is not good to "show off"
Don't laugh, it happened to my future sister-in-law.
                        Just my two cents...Good Luck

savage, I'm willing to bet you are going to give her a life 1,000 times better than what she has ever seen and if you asked HER about cut and clarity she probably wouldn't care, or have a clue but if she sees a nice size ring on the cheaper end with a little less clarity i'm willing to bet the woman will be floored by your "Wealth"!

                          Bottom line!

Don't mean to but in here Wayne and John....LOL

I've heard standard rule of thumb is to spend about 2 months income. The ring was appraised at 4500. I spent a little under 4 for it. It is a .70 carat princess cut diamond set in a 7 mm white gold band. It is mounted in a Cathedral style. The diamond has an F color and an SI2 clarity. That was the ring I proposed to her with. With that stlye and look she didn't want to add something after we were married. She does however want to get the ring upgraded when she graduates from college. We will have been married for about 3 years then.

I threw that out there b/c read your posts and it's like you're trying to pick a fight. All I've been trying to do is help Savage out with usually a very intimidating purchase that can be influenced by people with limited knowledge. (not a shot at you, but pushy "salesman" who know nothing about diamonds).

If we have a difference of opinions, who cares. It's Savage's call. I think I might know a little more about the subject then you though. And again, it's not a shot. But you start throwing shit at me and I'm supposed to shut up b/c you're a Mod? I have a lot of respect for you Wayne, but if you go back and reread, you'll see you started to pick a fight. Why I have no clue. I was giving my opinion to Savage and you start taking shots at me and my opinion. Is that right?

I agree buddy. The rings i bought NEVER did that. They were not cheap but they were not tiny either. IMO and i'm sure john will correct me, i've never seen this happen to a ring with quality. Where was it bought, in a gumball machine?
