  • Wedding Ring Question

Here is one which is a bit unusual.
As most of you know, I am going to tie the know very soon.
My fiancee feels having and wearing a wedding ring all the time including in bed(no jokes please) is very important.
I will do anything to please her(which is what counts), but if I had my way, I probably would not wear it around the house but only when I or we go out.
My question for you married guys is 1) do you wear your wedding ring and how often and 2) (a lady could answer this also) what is an appropriate amount to spend for a wedding band(not talking engagement rings), and whether it would be insulting to her if I spent more on her wedding band than mine as long as they appeared to match(as the ring for her is more important to her than mine would be for me)?
Thanks in advance for any response.
ps Without being nosy, if any of you guys want to tell me how much you spent for your wedding rings and how long ago, I would appreciate it.

I dont where mine at all. Reason being is when we got married, i worked in the field as an electrician. And gold is the best conductor known to man. Once i came in the office to be in project management, was use to not wearing it. My wife wears hers all the time and i think that is normal. IMO

Jcindaville-I get the feeling that at least in the US, a LOT of men DON'T wear their wedding rings very much for various reasons, some of which are not as valid as yours.

Every guy i know wears their ring and the woman too unless in JC's type of position.

You should always wear yours savage unless you are out without her and around other woman, then QUICKLY take it off to up your chances.

Also, spend 30-40 grand on her ring and that should be sufficient!

LOl-I guess I will have to wait for your next GOY and let the 30-40K ride and hope for the best.
Its too bad that someone couldn't invent a button you press on the ring to immediately somehow make it invisible rather than to have to incovenience yourself by taking it off in the situation you described.

You have a pretty wealthy/generous friend. And that is for a wedding ring only? How much did he spend for the engagement ring?

Size (no jokes) isn't the end all, be all. In order, to me; Cut, clarity, color, then carat. And I tinker around wholesaling diamonds. As far as what to spend, that is a personal decision. Stay away from bricks and mortar malls stores. Very limited knowledge and more about sales.

Also, stay away from VVS or VS stones. In my opinion not worth it. Can get much more for your $$$ with SI-1, even SI-2 stones. No one sees the stone through a loupe when she's wearing it, so it matters what can be seen/unseen while on finger..

I'm sorry but i totally disagree!!!

Nobody ever uses a microscope on it when you show it off and size might not matter to them in the bedroom but it does on their finger. My buddy got either 3/4 or a whole carat for $3,500. The clarity is about mid range and the cut is pretty good. The size is mind boggling and i'm telling you for a fact that every girl i've ever known wants that big stone to show off. If you have something TINY on your finger will the clarity matter if you can't see the damn thing.

NO WAY, they LOVE showing off the bling, bling, size ring and his is beautiful!!!

Sorry to substitute my expertise for yours Wayne. I can show you a large stone that looks like shit b/c it's cut too shallow or too deep and no light refracts. I can show you an great cut, but smaller stone that appears bigger b/c of light refracted. And carat is about weight, not size. You can't tell what carat (weight) a stone is just by looking at it.

And I'm not arguing to argue, I've been selling diamonds for over 10 years..

I don't care if "You" are an expert or not. Get her a grain of salt with 100% everything but size and throw in a microscope too so you can convince her how good it is. I've bought 3 of them and known many others who have too. They love to show off something that "Stands Out" and 99% of the people who see it notice the size more than anything and couldn't tell you 2 shits about it's clarity!
