I’m 58 and been gambling for over 40 years now…. Been married for 34 years and my wife knows every bet I make. In the early days when I didn’t really care about money management, betting $5,000 or more on a game (and lose) was always a wild ride for her but I never hide it from her. She knew what she was getting into before we got married. She also knew I wasn’t going to change either. So she just hung in they’re with me and I gotta tell ya, my betting life has been all over the place, including losing a house, bankruptcy etc. In spite of all this, were still together and it cost me a lot of money to finally learn how to gamble. Now we have a house twice the size I lost, always cash in our pockets and no bills to speak of. And when I’m out of town, I’ll have her either call in my bets to a local or and now she’s learned how to put them in online and can find the better lines when I’m not around. Now saying all this about her, one thing I didn’t mention is ..She doesn’t gamble one cent on anything and is one of those coupon users and always buys things on sale…Me? I can’t buy anything on sale and never used a coupon in my life…talk about opposites.
Guess what made it work for me was
1) A VERY understanding wife (ya gotta have one of those or forget it)
2) Never tried to hide the fact that I’m a degenerate gambler
3) She knows when I win as I always give her 10% of what I win
4) She always knows when I lose too, but I NEVER bitch or take it out on her..and she also know to sat clear too…
5) After 34 yrs of marriage…I guess I got a keeper here…lol
This is no BullShit either…She always said she would like to write a book about our life together but, nobody would believe it…. As I’ve been involved in some very hairy shit over the years too..
Good Luck my friend, all you can do is be honest, upfront and honorable. Something like a gamblers code of ethics I guess
