Assuming that at least some of you are interested in posts 102 and 103 and that I have whet your appetite, I want to tell you a bit more about myself and the problems I had in the past with gambling and gambling related activities lest you understand where I am coming from and perhaps make you reconsider that I am merely some self-serving pretty well off arrogant conceited asshole who only tries to stir up trouble with my threads.
If you are not interested tune out-if you are interested, before warned that it will be fairly lengthy.
Ok-lets get one thing straight first of all right off the bat because several of you all alluded to it, namely my financial condition.
I worked for the State for 34 years and obviously didn't get to be well off that way.
I sure as hell didn't get to be pretty well of gambling and over the 40 years of gambling are many many thousands (probably into the hundreds of thousands); I hold my ground now because of some folks in this forum and others who post their picks or pro cappers whose picks are posted for others.
I am also in the market, have been so for many years and pissed away many thousands of dollars with buying options(anyone in the Stock Market will understand the reference) as well as buying crappy penny stocks which in most cases went down in many cases to zero. I haven't bought options in many years and my activities in penny stocks is quite selective and very small in comparison to what is invested in blue chips.
I am pretty well off ONLY because my father made a good living as a dentist and invested his money wisely in the market.
After he died in 2003 and my mom later in 2007, I and my older brother inherited quite a bit of money most of which is managed by Professional money managers with a great record;I did this because realize my shortcomings and gambling tendencies and the possibility I could piss it all away.
Believe me things at one time one weren't so good.
No I was never lacking for food nor was unable to pay the rent, etc., because I had a steady job and made a decent living, but there were times in the past when I was a lot younger when I had to borrow a few grand or so because I didn't have enough money to pay the book;actually back then I bet a lot more back then now(sometimes in the hundreds) even though presently I am in a much better financial condition now than then to so do so.
I even attended a few GA meetings, but then stopped because after I heard the stories of the others, I realized that I was in much better contro of my life and finances than they were-some of those guys were many thousands of dollars in debt., had lost their wives and family, houes, etc.
I will go into more in a future posts about what happened in my life re: gambling if you guys are interested including the personal problems I have encountered in the past and to a lesser extent now.
I think when I conclude and tell the whole story, some of you will hopefully realize that there was a method to my madness about starting a thread about the possible ill effects of gambling and hanging around chatboards based on my experience;because the thread was closed, I never got to tell my story.
My intent of starting the thread was to let some of you guys who think you might have some kind of a gambling problem read my story and those of others who weren't ashamed to state how gambling had affected their life in negative ways; my hope was to get some to take an introspective look at themselves and at least get these folks to think about what could happen to them based on what they had read.
There were several persons who responded to the question before it was closed and said that they did not have a problem, and that is good.
As all of us know however, that is not true in all cases including mine, more of a problem in the past perhaps but still a problem.

No but in all seriousness I think certain people reach a point (as did I) where we could care less about getting involved in "internet" drama anymore. It gets ridiculous and most importantly pointless. However now for the most part being on the outside looking in is much more entertaining than being involved..
