California Bans Gay Marriage

The point is that the people have voted it down to call it "marriage". Call it a Civil Union and give them couples benifets as well who cares, just dont upset the traditional right of "marriage".

I dont care who they bang, just dont parade around and force your views on others under the guise of discimination or un-consitutional. Both Obama and McCain define marriage as between a man and a woman, both were clear on that in the debates.

My comment wasn't really toward the marriage vote....just the fact that he seems to have hateful opinions of gay people.

When someone states an opinion that they feel that all people are born straight and choose to be gay...it astounds me!

Seriously, I feel that gay or lesbian people are born that way. As long as they keep it in the bedroom, just like "straight" people should, it is really none of my business. I do believe that young kids are impressionable and that gay or straight should stay in the bedroom with the adults and leave the kids alone. They will develop into who they are as they mature and they will be who they are meant to be. Just my opinion.

People fought and died for the right of freedom for this country. And as long as you abide by the law, you are free to do as you wish. It's guaranteed in the Constitution of the United States. It's called the First Amendment.

And yet, because a person chooses to marry someone of the same sex, we are going to say that they don't have the freedom to just marry any 'human being?' And that they don't have thecSAME freedom that is enjoyed by everyone else that is heterosexual? That's NOT what we fight wars for.

This Proposition will more than likely be fought to the Supreme Court and will not be easy to initiate....And contrary to what you think, marriages before this Prop passed, will be honored for now. That may change, but it's not for the time being.

FWIW....I'm heterosexual and think it's unfortunate that as far as we've come in this day and age with civil rights issues, that we take a step back with this kind of action. Weasel, you certainly have a right to your opinion, but I also would have to respectfully disagree with it....

Again, I will have to respectfully disagree with you. Many people in this country at one time were for slavery and if there was a Prop to allow slavery at the time, it would have passed easily in many states. That doesn't make it right. This is a freedom of choice between two individuals. NOT to be decided on someone besides the two who CHOOSE to be married to decide whether it's right or wrong.

Although you may have gone overboard with your opinion in this thread, can't disagree with this statement.

I look at it this way, and I'm sure this will start a whole new discussion...if the entire population was gay...(you finish the rest)
